Currently, there is a wave of second startup companies in Korea as well as within the global market, and the role of accelerators have become highly important at the center of changes. In the early 2000s, Y-Combinator has made Airbnb and Dropbox grow into a global company, and its start-up support model has begun to gain worldwide attention, and further became the beginning of the "accelerator" industry. The accelerator industry has been expanding rapidly throughout the United States, Britain and Israel, as well as China and Southeast Asia in recent years. As of the end of 2018, more than 130 accelerators have been operating in Korea, starting with Primer in 2010, and the scope of its activities has been expanding into specialty fields such as Pintech, bio industry, and Block chain, as well as Game. The purpose of this study is to study the role of the accelerator through the phenomenon of these accelerators and their step-by-step support services.
There is growing empirical evidence that passion is an important part of entrepreneurship and influences the intentions, behaviors and performance of entrepreneurs, employees and startups. Passion is especially important in an entrepreneurial context, given the effort and challenge that entrepreneurs starting a startup must overcome. The purpose of this study was to confirm the effect of the passion of startup entrepreneurs participating in the accelerator incubation program and the passion of accelerator entrepreneurs and managers on the entrepreneurial performance of incubator startups. In addition, we tried to confirm whether entrepreneurial self-efficacy plays a mediating role in this influence relationship. The survey was conducted online by startups entrepreneur who completed the accelerator incubation program. A total of 330 questionnaires were used for the analysis. As a result of the empirical analysis, it was confirmed that the passion of startup entrepreneurs and the passion of accelerator entrepreneurs and managers all had a positive (+) effect on the entrepreneurial performance of incubator startups. The influence of passion was found to be high in the order of startup entrepreneurs, accelerator entrepreneurs, and accelerator managers. It was confirmed that entrepreneurial self-efficacy plays a mediating role between the passion of startup entrepreneurs, the passion of accelerator entrepreneurs, and the entrepreneurial performance of incubator startups, respectively. However, no significant mediating role was identified between the passion of accelerator managers and the entrepreneurial performance of incubator startups. This study is significant in empirically confirming for the first time that the passion of accelerator entrepreneurs and managers has a positive effect on the entrepreneurial performance of incubator startups. The passion of accelerator entrepreneurs and managers is playing an important role as a hidden lynchpin in creating the entrepreneurial performance of incubator startups. In particular, since the passion of accelerator entrepreneurs has a great influence on the performance of incubator startups, it is necessary to recognize this fact and carefully examine their passion reputation when startups select accelerators.
This study aims to analyze the effects of the characteristics of startups and the role of accelerators on internationalization performance. To achieve this purpose, we collected data from the management of 180 startups promoting overseas expansion. As a result of empirical analysis, it was confirmed that among the characteristics of startups, innovativeness, learning orientation, and global orientation had a significant effect on internationalization performance. In addition, it was confirmed that the role of the accelerator has a positive effect on the internationalization performance.

Micro hollow cathode discharges (MHCDs) are high-pressure, non-equilibrium discharges. Those MHCDs are useful to produce an excimer radiation. A major advantage of excimer sources is their high internal efficiency which may reach values up to 40% when operated under optimum conditions. To produce strong excimer radiation, the optimisation of the discharge conditions however needs a detailed knowledge of the properties of the discharge plasma itself. The electron density and temperature influence the excitation as well as plasma chemistry reactions and the gas temperature plays a major role as a significant energy loss process limiting efficiency of excimer radiation. Most of the recent spectroscopic investigations are focusing on the ultraviolet or vacuum ultraviolet range for direct detection of the excimer. In our experiments we have concentrated on investigating the micro hollow cathodes from the near UV to the near infrared (300~850 nm) to measure the basic plasma parameters using standard plasma diagnostic techniques such as stark broadening for electron density and the relative line intensity method for electron temperature. Finally, the neutral gas temperature was measured by means of the vibrational rotational structures of the second positive system of nitrogen.
The Standard Model (SM) does not provide an information for 26% of dark matter of the universe. In the dark sector, dark matter is supposed to be linked with the hypothetical particles called dark photons that have similar role to photons in electromagnetic interaction in the SM. Besides astronomical observation, there are studies to find dark matter candidates using accelerators. In this paper, we searched for dark photons using future electron-positron colliders, including Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC)/CEPC, Future Circular Collider (FCC-ee)/Innovative Detector for Electron-positron Accelerator (IDEA), and International Linear Collider (ILC)/International Large Detector (ILD). Using the parameterized response of the detector simulation of Delphes, we studied the sensitivity of a double dark photon mode at each accelerator/detector. The signal mode is double dark photon decay channel, e+e- → A'A', where A' (dark photon with spin 1) decaying into a muon pair. We used MadGraph5 to generate Monte Carlo (MC) events by means of a Simplified Model. We found the dark photon mass at which the cross-sections were the highest for each accelerator to obtain the maximum number of events. In this paper we show the expected number of dark photon signal events and the detector efficiency of each accelerator. The results of this study can facilitate in the dark photon search by future electron-positron accelerators.
For the application of flexible printed circuit board (FPCB), electroplated copper is required to have low surface roughness and residual stress. In the paper, the effects of surface roughness and residual stress of electroplated copper as thick as $8{\mu}m$ were studied on organic additives such as inhibitor, leveler and accelerator. Polyimide film coated with sputtered copper was used as a substrate. Surface roughness and surface morphology were measured by 3D-laser surface analysis and FESEM, respectively. Residual stress was calculated by Stoney's equation after measuring radius curvature of specimen. The addition of additives except high concentration of accelerator in the electrolyte decreased surface roughness of electroplated copper film. Such a tendency was explained by the function of additives among which the inhibitor and the leveler inhibit electroplating on a whole surface and prolusions, respectively. The accelerator plays a role in accelerating the electroplating in valley parts. The inhibitors and the leveler increased residual stress, whereas the accelerator decreased it. It was thought to be related with entrapped additives on electroplated copper film rather than the preferred orientation of electroplated copper film. The reason why additives lead to residual stress remains for the future work.
Recently, the government has been pursuing various policies to create new industries and jobs through the invigoration of start-ups. For the sustained growth of start-ups, it is necessary to look not only at the supply of risk capital but also at policies for venture capital firms that nurture and foster start-ups. The purpose of this study is to estimate the effects of the nurturing and fostering role of risk capital, such as mentorship on the performance of start-ups, and to do this we analyzed the effects, as a newly introduced form of venture capital, of mentoring by an accelerator and investor ties on the performance outcomes of start-ups. We find that mentoring and investor ties for start-up enterprises positively influence follow-up investment in start-ups. In addition, this study finds that with a younger CEO of a start-up, it is more likely that the performance of the start-up will improve. Meanwhile, when examining increases in employment as a measure of the business performance of start-ups, mentoring and investor ties are found to have a positive effect on the increase of employment at start-ups. These results suggest that there is a need to promote policies that strengthen the mentoring role of venture capital in Korea's equity finance policies and in the government's SME support policies.
A new computer simulation method for film growth, the kinetic Monte Carlo simulation in combination with the results obtained from molecular dynamics simulation for the transient process induced by deposited atoms, was developed. The behavior of energetic atom in Au/Au(100) thin film deposition was investigated by the method. The atomistic mechanism of energetic atom deposition that led to the smoothness enhancement and the relationship between the role of transient process and film growth mechanism were discussed. We found that energetic atoms cannot affect the film growth mode in layer-by-layer at high temperature. However, at temperature of film growth in 3-dimensional mode and in quasi-two-dimensional mode, energetic atoms can enhance the smoothness of film surface. The enhancement of smoothness is caused by the transient mobility of energetic atoms and the suppression for the formation of 3-dimensional islands.

Complex oxide heterointerfaces have been extensively explored in the past due to the novel phenomenon emerging at such interfaces that differ from their individual bulk counterparts. The integration of a ferromagnetic (FM) material with the superconducting (SC) material leading to proximity effect is one of the commonly studied phenomenon in these heterostructures. In continuation, we have stabilized the FM layer La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 (LCMO) on SC material YBa2Cu3O7-${\delta}$ (YBCO) using pulsed laser deposition technique and explored the structural, magnetic, electrical and magneto-transport properties of this heterostructure. ${\Phi}$-scan measurements confirm the epitaxial nature of LCMO/YBCO heterostructure grown on single crystalline SrTiO3 substrate. The FM transition of LCMO and SC transition of YBCO are observed in the magnetization measurements of the bilayer structure. Through electrical measurements, we understood that the proximity effect leads to lowering of the SC transition of YBCO. The role of interface in the bilayer structure is also realized through electrical transport measurements.
An L-band linear accelerator system for e-beam sterilization is under design for bio-technology application. The klystron-modulator system as RF microwave source has an important role as major components to offer the system reliability for long time steady state operation. A PFN line type pulse generator with a peak power of 71.5-MW, $7{\mu}s$, 285 pps is required to drive a high-power klystron. The high power pulse transformer has a function of transferring pulse energy from a pulsed power source to a high power load. The pulse transformer producing a pulse with a peak voltage of 275 kV is required to produce 30-MW peak and 60 kW average RF output power at the frequency of 1.3-GHz. We have designed the high power pulse transformer with 1:13 step-up ratio. The peak and average power capability is 71.5-MW (275 kV, 260 A at load side with $7{\mu}s$ pulse width) and 130 kW, respectively. In this paper, we present a system overview and initial design results of the high power pulse transformer.
