The teleoperation system applies all of the industrial fields due to the development of the network infrastructure. It is one of the indispensable elements for controlling the robot at a remote sight and monitoring the limit or unknown environment. The common teleoperation robot system is what has the visual module to supply the network system and realistic UI to the existed robot system. Therefore, remarked that the fusion between modules and transmission of visual data the remarked the important element to improve the robot application in the various environments. Delay of development time by robot platform and noneffective communication among developers are also problem to approach. In this paper we propose the independent teleoperation system. The main application language is JAVA in this system, which is applied JAVA API like JNI and JMF to construct the effective teleoperation system. The system has the both side communication system between sever and client as a basic structure. The visual data that is attached the robot at a remote sight is captured by JMF API and then is transmitted to the web browser called client by RTR protocol. JNI is used to connect between JAVA and the lower part application (sensor fusion, motion control.) of the robot programmed by various Native languages. The proposed system is the application that can perform the elements, for instance transmission of visual data, the fusion of various native application modules and the effective network communication, with any platform.
We need a lot of manpower and we can cut down a labor cost by applying industrial robots the footwear bonding automation process. In this study, we suggest how to program off-line robot path along a shoe's outsole shape in the footwear bonding process by 5-axis microscribe system like robot arms. This microscribe system development consists 5-axis microscribe mechanics, signal processing circuit, and PC with software. It is the system for making database of a shoe's outsole through the movement of a microscribe with many joints. To do this, first read 5-encoders' pulse values while a robot arm points a shoe's outsole shape from the initial status. Then, calculate a relative shoe's outsole by Denavit-Hatenberg's (D-H) direct Kinematics of known length of links and coordinate values. Next, calculate the encoders' pulse values of the robot arm's rotation and transmitting the angle pulse values to the PC through a circuit. Finally, it is able to display a shoe's outsole at real-time by computing the Denvavit-Hantenberg's (D-H) direct kinematics in the PC. With the coordinate values calculated above, we can draw a bonding gauge-line on the upper. Also, we can make off-line robot path programming compute a shoe's bonding area on the upper. These results will be effectively applied for programming a robot path on off-line and automatically.
Recently, realization of an intelligent cooperative interaction system between a man and robot systems is required. In this paper, HyperCard with a voice control is used for above system because of its easy handling and excellent human interfaces. Clicking buttons in the HyperCard by a mouse device or a voice command means controlling each joint of a robot system. Robot teaching operation of grasping a bin and pouring liquid in it into a cup is carried out. This robot teaching method using HyperCard provides a foundation for realizing a user friendly cooperative interaction system.
In a park or street, we can see many people Jogging or walking with their dogs chasing their masters. In the previous study, an entertainment robot, CARTRI that imitates the dog's behavior was created. The robot's task was chasing a moving goal that was recognized as the master. The physical structure of the CARTRI robot was three-wheel type locomotion system. The sensor system which could detect the position of the master in the outdoor space, was consists of a signal transmitter which was held by the master and five ultrasonic receivers which were mounted on the robot. In the experiment, the robot could chase a human walking in outdoor space like a park. But it could not avoid obstacles and its behavior was only goal-chasing behavior because of the limit of the sensor system. In this study, an improved RF-ultrasonic sensor system which can detect both goal and obstacle is developed in order to enable the CARTRI robot to carry out various behavior. The sensor system has increased angle resolution by using eight ultrasonic receivers instead of five in the previous study. And it can detect obstacle by using reflective type ultrasonic sensors. The sensor system is designed so that detection of goal and obstacle could be conducted in one sampling period. The Performance of the developed sensor system is evaluated through experiments.
In this paper, steering systems for mobile robot with permanent magnet wheels are discussed. The mobile robot with permanent magnet wheels can have three different types of steering and driving configurations; two-wheels, three-wheels, four-wheels. By a Two-WD(Wheel Driving) system, driving and steering characteristics are controlled by ratio of each wheel speeds. Three-WD system is steered by a front wheel and driven by rear wheels. Four-WD system has better stability than two wheel system. Usually the permanent magnet wheel has nearly none slip. Thus turning radius of the mobile robot with three-WD and four-WD System will be increased and the steering and driving system will be complicated. To solve this problem, two magnet wheels with two dummy wheels are used in this study. fuming radius of the developed mobile robot is small and the structure of the robot is simple. It is possible to move forward, backward, to turn left and right, and to rotate freely with two-WD. This study proved that two-WD system is very suitable fur the mobile robot with permanent magnet wheels.
In a park or street, we can see many people jogging or walking with their dogs tracking their masters. In this study, an entertainment robot that imitates a dog's behavior is created. The robot's task is tracking a moving target that is recognized as the master. In order to design the robot, the ecological approach. in which the robot's goals and surroundings heavily influence its design, is used. A three-wheel type locomotion system is designed as the robot's physical structure which can follow a human jogging in outdoor space like a park. A sensor system which can detect the position of a master for the robot in the outdoor space, is developed. This sensor system consists of a signal transmitter which is at the hand of a master and some sensors which are mounted on the robot. The transmitter emits RF(radio frequency) and ultrasonic signals and the sensors detect the direction and distance from the robot to the transmitter by using the received signals. For the control architecture of the robot, a purely reactive behavior-based method is used in order to increase speed of response. The developed robot is evaluated through experiments conducted in indoor and outdoor environments.
A remote controlled mobile robot system has been developed and tested to monitor the radiation area in the nuclear power plant. The mobile robot system operates according to car-driving-like commands and is capable of radiation measurement and visual inspection in unmanned situations under radiation. The robot system is equipped with a radiation sensor and two cameras with appropriate illumination set-ups. The camera with auto-focus function and 8-times zoom lens is mounted on the pan/tilt rotational base and the other is mounted on the front panel of the robot system. All commands regarding the motion of the mobile robot and various sensors are given through the monitoring system which is designed to provide an integrated man-machine interface.
Typically, robot system configured by articulated robot manipulator with 1 DOF transfer unit is being applied in automotive manufacturing automation process. Especially, 1 DOF transfer unit is necessary to extend workspace of robot manipulator. In this configuration, because transfer unit works only one direction, robot manipulator only works in one side in case of car body painting or sealing automation process. it is necessary three robot manipulator system at least. In this paper, in order to robot manipulator works effectively in car body sealing automation application, we are suggested omni-directional manipulator system and conducted studying on redundancy resolution method to solve manipulability-optimal problem.
In this paper, an analysis on a new robot manipulator developed for the side buffing of the shoes is presented. The robot manipulator is composed of five degrees of freedom. An analysis on the forward and inverse kinematics was performed. Through the analysis, an analytic solution was derived for the joint angles corresponding to the position and orientation of the tool in the Cartesian coordinates. The hardware system of the robot composed of the control system, input/output interface system, and related electronic system was developed. The communication system was also developed to interact the robot with the related surrounding systems. A graphic user interface(GUI) program including the forward/inverse kinematics, control algorithm, and communication program was developed using visual C++ language.
Until now, many networked robots have been connected to the Internet for the various applications. With these networked robots, very long distance teleoperation can be possible through the Internet. However, the promising area of the Internet-based teleoperation may be distance learning, because of several reasons such as the unpredictable characteristics of the Internet. In robotics class, students learn many theories about robots, but it is hard to perform the actual experiments for all students due to the rack of the real robots and safety problems. Some classes may introduce the virtual robot simulator for students to program the virtual robot and upload their program to operate the real robot through the off-line programming method. However, the students may also visit the laboratory when they want to use the real robot for testing their program. In this paper, we developed an Internet-based robot education system. The developed system was composed of two parts, the robotics class materials and the web-based Java3d robot simulator. That is, this system can provide two services for distance learning to the students through the Internet. The robotics class materials can be provided to the student as the multimedia contents on the web page. As well, the web-based robot simulator as the real experiment tool can help the students get good understanding about certain subject. So, the students can learn the required robotics theories and perform the real experiments from their web browser when they want to study themselves at any time.
