  • This paper presents a rope modeling and verification for the robotic platform of the wall cleaning robot (ROPE RIDE). ROPE RIDE has the characteristics of climbing up and down using a rope fixed on the roof like traditional workers. In order to perform a stable operation with a wall cleaning robot, it is necessary to estimate the position of the robot in a vertical direction. However, due to the high coefficient of extension and nonlinearity of the climbing rope, it is difficult to predict the behavior of the rope. Thus, in this paper, the mathematical modeling of the rope was carried out through the preliminary experiment. Extensive experiments using different types of rope were used to determine the parameters of the constitutive equation of climbing ropes. The validity of the determined parameters of various ropes was verified through the experiment results.

  • Recently, the robot manipulators are needed more slim size and longer reach and more accurate movement for increasing productivity. So, in this paper, the simulation modeling method and the efficient modeling method for new slim & long reach robot has been investigated for forecasting the slim robot performance before making prototype. To do this investigation, the major parts of robot driving system such as motor, belt and reducer devices and parts assembly method have been investigated mainly. And then, using this developed modeling method the new designed robot will be forecasted about the dynamic performance of new designed robot.

  • Most omni-directional mobile robots have to change their trajectory for avoiding obstacles regardless of the size of the obstacles. However, an omni-directional mobile robot having kinematic redundancy can maintain the trajectory while the robot avoids small obstacles. This works deals with the kinematic modeling and motion planning of an omni-directional mobile robot with kinematic redundancy. This robot consists of three wheel mechanisms. Each wheel mechanism is modeled as having four joints, while only three joints are necessary for creating the omni-directional motion. Thus, each chain has one kinematic redundancy. Two types of wheel mechanisms are compared and its kinematic modeling is introduced. Finally, several motion planning algorithms using the kinematic redundancy are investigated. The usefulness of this robot is shown through experiment.

  • In this paper are presented kinematic and dynamic modeling and path-tracking of fourwhelled mobile robot with 2 d.o.f. having the limited drivetorques. Controllability of wheeled-mobile robot is revealed by using the kinematic model. Instantaneously coincident coordinate cystem, force/torques generated by inverse dynamics exceed the limitation, we make wheeled-mobile robot follow the reference path by modifying the planned reference trajectory with time-scaling. The controller is introduced to compensate for error owing to modeling uncertainty and measurement noise. And simulation results prove that method proposed by this paper is efficient.

  • We have shown how unstructured modeling was used to derive a general stability condition in Part 1. In Part 2, we focus on the particular dynamics (structures modeling) of the robot manipulator and environment. Using rigid body dynamics, the stability condition for the direct drive robots has been achieved in terms of the Jacobian and robot tracking controller. Combining the structured and unstructured modeling, a stability condition for a particular application can be obtained. This approach has been used to analyze compliant motion on the University of Minnesota robot using a feedforward torque controller. We have obtained a stability condition for this application. Through both simulation and experiment, the sufficiency of this condition has been demonstrated. For a sufficient stability condition, recall that if the condition is satisfied, then the stability is guaranteed; however, if the condition is violated, no conclusion can be made.

  • This paper deals with dynamic walking and inverse dynamic analysis of the IWR biped walking robot. The system has nine bodies of the multibody dynamics. and all of the .joints of them are made up of the revolute joints at first. The problem of redundant constraint in double support phase is solved by changing the type of the joints considering kinematic relation. To make sure of its dynamic walking, the movement of balancing weight is determined by which satisfies not only the condition of ZMP by applying the principle of D'Alembert but also the contact condition of the ground. The modeling of IWR and dynamic walking are realized using DADS.

  • As international market pressures increase, product life cycles are becoming shorter at same time requirements for productivity and flexibility are becoming higher. Major improvement in robot programming user interface is central to increasing productivity and flexibility for automatic manufacturing environments. New computer technologies have the potential to accomplish this improvement. In this study we have developed a system which proves that interactive computer graphics and geometric modeling have matured to the point where their artful application into an integrated system can rsult in radically new and powerful user interface for robot programming. With the graphic user interface environment the system efficiently utilizes the existing CAD data and gemetric modeling techniques for off-line programming and simulations. Also the system successfully generates robot control programs performing the desired tasks given through off-line programming.

  • The robotic shoe testing system that mechanically simulates human motion was proposed to overcome the problems associated with human subject tests. The objective of this study is to predict new motion trajectory for robot that will produce similar force and moment of particular human motion. In order to solve this problem, it is imperative to understand the dynamics of robot for shoe testing. The methodology using parameter estimation technique was proposed for this problem. Since the dynamics of robot is certainly different from that of human, it is necessary to adapt/modify the robot's trajectory for future analysis, which is currently under investigation.
