In this paper, we present a night-time vehicle detection method using CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) classification. The camera based night-time vehicle detection plays an important role on various advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as automatic head-lamp control system. The method consists mainly of thresholding, labeling and classification steps. The classification step is implemented by existing CIFAR-10 model CNN. Through the simulations tested on real road video, we show that CNN classification is a good alternative for night-time vehicle detection.
Noise maps are produced according to 'The Method of making a Noise Map' in order to noise control efficiently, and prediction model to predict road traffic noise which may apply to Korean situation, include CRTN, RLS 90, NMPB, Nord 2000 and ASJ 2003. Of them, ASJ 2003, Japan's prediction model has not been verified for the application to Korean situation according to the classification of vehicle. In addition, ASJ 2003 was revised to ASJ 2008 recently, a classification for motorcycle was added. This study attempts to check the classification of vehicle in ASJ 2008 and 'The Method of making a Noise Map' to confirm the suitability of the application of them to Korean situation.
High-resolution satellite images offer abundance information of the earth surface for remote sensing applications. The information includes geometry, texture and attribute characteristic. The pixel-based image classification can't satisfy high-resolution satellite image's classification precision and produce large data redundancy. Object-oriented information extraction not only depends on spectrum character, but also use geometry and structure information. It can provide an accessible and truly revolutionary approach. Using Beijing Spot 5 high-resolution image and object-oriented classification with the eCognition software, we accomplish the cultures' precise classification. The test areas have five culture types including water, vegetation, road, building and bare lands. We use nearest neighbor classification and appraise the overall classification accuracy. The average of five species reaches 0.90. All of maximum is 1. The standard deviation is less than 0.11. The overall accuracy can reach $95.47\%.$ This method offers a new technology for high-resolution satellite images' available applications in remote sensing culture classification.
Terrain classification is still a challenging issue in image processing, especially with high resolution satellite images. The well-known obstacles include low accuracy in the detection of targets, especially for the case of man-made structures, such as buildings and roads. In this paper, we present an efficient approach to classify and detect building footprints, foliage, grass and road from high resolution grayscale satellite images. Our contribution is to build a strong classifier using AdaBoost based on a combination of co-occurrence and Haar-like features. We expect that the inclusion of Harr-like feature improves the classification performance of the man-made structures, since Haar-like feature is extracted from corner features and rectangle features. Also, the AdaBoost algorithm selects only critical features and generates an extremely efficient classifier. Experimental result indicates that the classification accuracy of AdaBoost classifier is much higher than that of the conventional classifier using back propagation algorithm. Also, the inclusion of Harr-like feature significantly improves the classification accuracy. The accuracy of the proposed method is 98.4% for the target detection and 92.8% for the classification on high resolution satellite images.
This paper proposes a gradation image processing method for the development of a Road Sign Recognition Platform (RReP), which aims to facilitate the rapid and accurate management and surveying of approximately 160,000 road signs installed along the highways, national roadways, and local roads in the cities, districts (gun), and provinces (do) of Korea. RReP is based on GPS(Global Positioning System), IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit), INS(Inertial Navigation System), DMI(Distance Measurement Instrument), and lasers, and uses an imagery information collection/classification module to allow the automatic recognition of signs, the collection of shapes, pole locations, and sign-type data, and the creation of road sign registers, by extracting basic data related to the shape and sign content, and automated database design. Image division and merging, which were applied in this study, produce superior results compared with local binarization method in terms of speed. At the results, larger texts area were found in images, the accuracy of text recognition was improved when images had been gradated. Multi-threshold values of natural scene images are used to improve the extraction rate of texts and figures based on pattern recognition.

The paper explains the method to process, analyze and predict traffic patterns in Los Angeles county using Big Data and Machine Learning. The dataset is used from a popular navigating platform in the USA, which tracks information on the road using connected users' devices and also collects reports shared by the users through the app. The dataset mainly consists of information about traffic jams and traffic incidents reported by users, such as road closure, hazards, accidents. The major contribution of this paper is to give a clear view of how the large-scale road traffic data can be stored and processed using the Big Data system - Hadoop and its ecosystem (Hive). In addition, analysis is explained with the help of visuals using Business Intelligence and prediction with classification machine learning model on the sampled traffic data is presented using Azure ML. The process of modeling, as well as results, are interpreted using metrics: accuracy, precision and recall.
