  • We establish a statistical model for the ultra-wide bandwidth (UMB) indoor channel based on over 2000 frequency response measurements campaign in a Practical apartment. The approach is based on the investigation of the statistical properties of the multipath profiles measured in different place with different rooms. Based on the experimental results, a characterization of the propagation channel from theoretic view point is described. Also we describe a method for measurement of the channel impulse response and channel transfer function. Using the measured data, the authors compares channel impulse responses obtained from time-domain and channel transfer functions obtained from frequency-domain with statistical path loss model. The bandwidth of the signal used in this experiment is from 10MHz to 8.01 GHz. The time-domain results such as maximum excess delay, men excess delay and ms delay spread are presented. As well as, omni-directional biconical antenna were used for transmitter and receiver In addition, measurements presented here support m channel model including the antenna characteristics.

  • Analysis of an indoor propagation channel has conventionally used the ray-tracing method. But, in this paper, we had modelling the channel for three dimensional indoor structure by the finite difference time domain method for three dimensional full wave analysis. An excitation signal of the FDTD method used plane wave. The plane wave was excited using the total field/scattered field method. And absorbing boundary condition used the perfectly matched layer method with 7 layers. An living room for the simulation of indoor channel modeling is surrounded the wall that be composed of the wood, the conductor, the glass and concrete. When there are furniture in the living room or not, it were simulated, respectively. As simulation results, we could identify the fading effect of multipath at indoor propagation environment, calculated mean excess delay and rms delay spread for the receiver design.

  • For OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) systems, 2-D MMSE (2-Dimensional Minimum Mean Square Error) channel estimation provides optimal performance in frequency/time selective fading channel environment. However, the 2-D MMSE channel estimation has high computational complexity due to the large matrix size, because the 2-D MMSE channel estimation considers time as well as frequency axis for channel estimation. To reduce the computational complexity, we propose a modified 2-D MMSE channel estimator which is based on 1-D MMSE channel estimation with weighted sum. Furthermore, we consider RMS delay spread and Doppler frequency estimation for 2-D MMSE channel estimation. We show that the proposed method can significantly reduce computational complexity as well as that it can perform close to 2-D MMSE channel estimation.

  • There are several factors that disturb an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) radio propagation in an indoor environment such as path loss, shadowing and multipath fading. These factors directly affect the quality of the received signal. In this paper, we investigated the influence of the human body shadowing on UWB propagation based on measured wireless channel in an anechoic chamber. The characteristics of the UWB channel including the transmitter and the receiver antenna effects are acquired over the frequency bandwidth of 3${\sim}$11 GHz. The major factors such as the power delay profile (PDP), the angular power distribution (APD), the pulse distortion and the RMS delay spread caused by the human body shadowing are presented.

  • This study measured and analyzed the propagation characteristics at frequencies 6, 10, and 17 GHz to discover the new propagation demands in a semi-basement indoor corridor environment for meeting the 4th industrial revolution requirements. The measured indoor environment is a straight corridor consisting of three lecture rooms and glass windows on the outside. The measurement scenario development and measurement system were constructed to match this environment. The transmitting antenna was fixed, and the frequency domain and time domain propagation characteristics were measured and analyzed in the line-of-sight environment based on the distance of the receiving antenna location. In the frequency domain, reliability was determined by the parameters of the floating intercept (FI) path loss model and an R-squared value of 0.5 or more. In the time domain, the root mean square (RMS) delay spread and the cumulative probability of K-factor were used to determine that 6 GHz had high propagation power and 17 GHz had low propagation power. These research results will be effective in providing ultra-connection and ultra-delay artificial intelligence services for WIFI 6, 5G, and future systems in a semi-basement indoor corridor environment.

  • In this paper, we consider an OFDM receiver algorithm design for IEEE 802.11a/p system, which targeting large coverage area while keeping the transmission format unchanged. Particularly, taking into account the inter-symbol interference(ISI) and inter-carrier interference(ICI) that can be induced with large RMS delay spread, we employ channel shortening time-domain equalizer(TEQ) and evaluate the receiver performance in terms of SINR and packet error rate(PER). The preamble defined in IEEE802.11a/p is used to estimated the initial equalizer tap coefficients. Primary purpose of the paper is to give an answer to the question, though partially, whether or not 16-QAM constellation can be used in none line of sight environment at the boundary of a large coverage area. To this end, we first analyze the required TEQ parameters for the target channel environment and then perform simulation for PER performance evaluation in a generic frequency selective fading channel with exponential power-delay profile.

  • This paper represents measurement prodcedure and analysis of terrestrial DTV field test results over Taejeon city area. Thirty three points were selected as measuring points. Signal power, noise power, Segment Error Rate, RMS delay spread and equalizer performance was measured. The video and audio quality of DTV was good over half of test sites. Equalizer, could correct signal ghost and improve S/N up to 13.7 dB. From this test, the test procedure for DTV will be estabilished.

  • In this paper, a measurement and analysis program is developed, that can be utilized to measure and analyze radio propagation characteristics. This program is able to control the measurement instruments including spectrum analyzer through a GPIB interface, and analyze the measured data to yield mean excess delay and RMS delay spread. The measured path loss can be compared with theoretical path loss in free space or inside tunnels. The measured and analyzed results can also be presented in the forms of graphs. As those tasks can be conducted on the measurement spot, this program is very helpful for performing and verifying measurements.

  • Narrowband and wideband characterizations of radio propagation channels in tunnel environments are investigated by using ray tracing techniques. For a rectangular straight tunnel and a rectangular curved tunnel, received power is simulated when the receiver moves away from the transmitter. The fast fading statistics of the narrowband propagation are analyzed in terms of cumulative distribution function, level crossing rate and average fade duration. The tunnel wideband radio propagation channel is characterized in terms of mean excess delay and rms delay spread.

  • In Ubiquitous Society, accurate Location Calculation of user's device is required to achieve the need of users. As the location calculation is processed by ranging between transceivers, if some obstacles exist between transceivers, NLoS(Non-line-of-Sight) components of received signal increase along with the reduction of LoS(Line-of-Sight) components. Therefore the location calculation error will increase due to the NLoS effect. The conventional location calculation algorithm has the original ranging error because there is no transformation of ranging information which degrades the ranging accuracy. The Iterative Calculation method which minimizes the location calculation error relys on accurately identifying NLoS or LoS condition of the tested channel. We employ Kurtosis, Mean Excess Delay and RMS Delay spread of the received signal to identify whether the tested channel is LoS or NLoS firstly. Thereafter, to minimize location calculation error, the proposed Iterative Calculation method iteratively select random range and finds the averaged target location which has high probability. The simulation results confirm the enhancement of the proposed method.
