In recent years the human impact on the environment becomes increasing lift threatening, calls for the better management of resources. In field of water quality of river flow, the best way to conserve water quality is specific efforts to control the pollutant loadings and treat the loadings in the basin to reduce the discharge of pollutant loadings to river. But in general the water quality influenced by the dam discharge. Especially in dry season, it is more dominant way to improve the water quality which contaminated with the pollutant loadings from the basin. The dam discharge amounts of the 2 dams in the Keum River that maintain the down stream water quality were estimated for the year of 1999, 2001, 2006, 2011, in case of irrigation and non-irrigation seasons. The pollutant loadings for the basin are estimated with the planning of treatment plants construction schedule for every sub-basins. The river flow rates were considered low flow as 2.33 year low flow and 10 year low flow. The QUAL2E model was used as a tool of simulation.
Seom River was major branch of Namhan river, consist of primary basin that Wonjoo-city, Hoingsung-gun and primary contamination source was sewage from human lives. This study was evaluated production contamination loading of each branch basin and water quality grade and water quality simulation by QUAL2E to provide efficient contaminations source control. Rusult of survey, production loading of BOD, T-N, T-P were 26,591 kg/day, 4,560 kg/day, 731 kg/day resectively. Water quality analysis in 17 points of main stream were appeared that 1st grade(BOD 1 mg/l under) was 6 point, 2nd grade was 9 point and 3rd grade was 2 point. And result of water quality analysis for branch steram, first grade was evaluated 68.7%. Based of field data, calibration and verification result were in good agreement with mesured value within coefficient of variance were from 2.59% to 18.73%, from 6.39%, to 28.46%, respectively.
Characterization of sediment quality is important for the proper management of surface water quality, yet sediment has not been monitored sufficiently. In this study, fecal indicator microorganism concentrations of sediments in the Geum River Basin were monitored. Sampling was carried out at one paddy field, one lakeshore and five monitoring stations in the lower reach of the Geum River Basin. Surface waters and sediments were sampled four times during rainy season. Total coliform concentrations of sediments were 12 times higher in average to those of surface waters while E. coli concentrations of sediments were six times higher. No correlation found between indicator microorganism concentration between surface waters and sediments.

This study aimed at the introduction of desktop method for assessment of environmental flows developed by IWMI(International Water Management Institute) recently and its application to Geum river basin. This scheme simulated the influence on aquatic ecosystem caused by watershed development and in turn the decrease of water quantity keeping the river's own flow regime. It was found to be as very effective method although it had simple structure. Flow duration curves for different environmental classes at Sutong and Gongjoo sites were estimated according to the natural conditional scenario of Geum river basin and the results were relatively compared well with the previous studies. The behaviors of monthly average runoff time series of both sites showed the level of A class. The results of this study would provide the fundamental data to establish the future plans of monitoring or management for aquatic ecosystem of Geum river basin.
Depth-area-duration(DAD) relations are important to hydrological plans and designs for the water resources as well as the flood defence. And these relations have been still in analysis and use today because they can be applied to readily available data. In this paper, rational and consistent DAD models were developed using the multiple regression analysis and basic relationships of area ratio-runoff volume about heavy rainfall occurring in the Im-Jin river basin, 1999. In addition, revised DAD models and curves that can convert a maximum point rainfall to mean area rainfall were developed and evaluated. As results, these models seem to have predictive value in order to plan and design hydrological structures of flood defence in the Im-Jin river basin.
The Terra/MODIS data set over Yellow River Basin, China is generated for the purpose of an input parameter into the water resource management model, which has been developed in the Research Revolution 2002 (RR2002) project. This dataset is mainly utilized for the land cover classification and radiation budget analysis. In this paper, the outline of the dataset generation, and a simple land cover classification method, which will be developed to avoid the influence of cloud contamination and missing data, are introduced.

Yi-dong experimental basin is operated for research on the rural basin characteristics and accumulation of a long term data by hydrological observation equipments. It is basin area 9,440ha, length 14.4km and slope 0.67%. Hydrological observation network is constructed of rainfall meter 4points, reservoir storage level 3points and river water level 2points.
An investigation of the karyotypes of two species of the genus Brachymystax (B. lenok and B. tumensis) has been done for the Russia Primorye rivers running to the East Sea basin, and others belonging to Amur basin. Based on the analysis of two species chromosome characteristics, combined with original and literary data, four cytotypes have been described. One of these cytotypes (Cytotype I: 2n=90, NF=110-118) was the most common. This common cytotype belongs to B. tumensis from the rivers of the East Sea basin and B. lenok from the rivers of the Amur basin, i.e. extends to the zones of allopatry. In the rivers of the Amur river basin, in the zone of the sympatric habitat of two species, each taxon has karyotypes with different chromosome numbers, B. tumensis (2n=92) and B. lenok (2n=90). Because of the ability to determine a number of the chromosome arms for these two species, additional cytotype have been identified for B. tumensis: Cytotype II with 2n=92, NF=110-124 in the rivers basins of the Yellow sea and Amur river and for B. lenok three cytotypes: Cytotype I: 2n=90, NF=110 in the Amur river basin; Cytotype III with 2n=90, NF=106-126 in the Amur river basin and Cytotypes IV with 2n=92, NF=102 in the Baikal lake.

Storage function method which considers the non-linearity of the relationship between rainfall and runoff has been frequently used to predict runoff in a basin and a flood pattern. However, it is time-consuming to estimate appropriate parameters of every basin and rainfall event, which requires the empirical parameter equation applicable in Korea. In this study, multiple regression analysis is used to develop empirical equations to estimate parameters of Storage Function method using basin characteristics. The basin area, maximum stream length, and stream slope are considered as the basin characteristics as the result of the regression analysis. Collinearity is removed and trial-and-error method is used to choose the most descriptive parameters to the dependent variables in Han River basin which is divided into 30 subbasins. The developed equations are validated using the rainfall events in MunMak gauging station and named as 'Han River equation'. The equation could provide the useful information about Storage Function method parameter to calculate runoff from a basin and predict river stage.
