The geology of Ulleung-Do is dominated by volcanic rocks with low strength and trachytic rocks with high strength but containing vertical joints that yield easily. Consequently, rockfalls along roadcuts are a major geological hazard, with the potential to affect the ring road of Ulleung-Do. In this study, we performed three types of rockfall hazard-risk assessment on the 3-km-long section of the ring road expected to have the highest possibility of rockfall. We used a rockfall ranking sheet in a roadside landslide hazard map, the Slope Stability Inspection Manual for National Highways (Japan), and a rockfall hazard rating system for inspection from the Japan Highway Public Corporation. We also employed the evaluation criteria of 'RHRS' developed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHA). An analysis of roadcuts at 27 sites with regard to geographic and geological conditions resulted in the identification of three classes of rockfall hazard (high, medium, and low). Of note, over 74% of slopes were assessed as high- and medium-class. Finally, a rockfall hazard map of the northeast region of Ulleung-Do was produced based on the evaluation results.

The purpose of this study is to identify the fragmented points of mountain ranges in Daegu metropolitan city using New Sangyeongpyo (Chart of Mountain Ranges), road system map and GIS spatial analysis, and to prioritize the identified fragmented points for restoration based on quantitative assessment. Moreover, this study proposes restoration plans reflecting the assessment results and characteristics of each fragmented point. The results of this study are summarized as follows: First of all, analysis of the distribution of mountain ranges in Daegu metropolitan city showed that jimaek and semaek in Daegu account for 2% of all mountain ranges in the country, implying that the mountain ranges of Daegu do not hold significant ranking on a national level. However, it was found that numerous fragmented points are appearing due to roads. According to the analysis, 35 fragmented points were identified, of which 15 were found to be restorable. In terms of restoration potential and involved risks, assessment results of the 15 fragmented points indicated that 6 points are at Grade I, 3 points are at Grade II and 6 points are at Grade III. Therefore, a methodology of restoring fragmented mountain ranges was proposed through three suggestions of restoration plans that consider the characteristics of each fragmented points. The results of this study are expected to be highly useful as basic data for effective restoration of mountain ranges in connection with mountain range restorations and relevant projects implemented on a national level in the future.
Background: Oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC) is the most common cancer diagnosed within the oral cavity worldwide. Many studies in India report OTSCC ranking among the top two most common subsites within the oral cavity. India is often labeled the oral cancer capital of the world. The incidence of tongue cancers in the population-based cancer registry (PBCR) of Chennai is showing an increasing trend. A majority of the oral cavity cancers (85%) in our cancer center present in advanced stages (III and IV). In contrast, early tongue cancers (stages I and II) constitute nearly 45% of all OTSCCs. Aim: The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical profile and epidemiological trends in our early stage tongue cancer patients with an emphasis on tobacco and alcohol habits. Materials and Methods: This retrospective analysis was based on a prospectively collected database of 458 consecutive early stage OTSCC in-patients at a tertiary care oncology centre in Chennai between 1995 and 2008. Results: Our study suggests that the earlier trends have clearly changed whereby nearly half of our patients are now never-tobacco users. The findings of the study indicate that a majority of the patients were never alcohol users (86.4%) and nearly half of them were never tobacco users (49.3%), and they had the best survival outcomes. This increasing trend of OTSCC among non-tobacco users is in contrast to our earlier experience of tongue cancer more than five decades ago.The median age of patients in our study was 53.3 years; the male to female ratio was approximately 2:1. The median follow up for the 458 patients was 53 months. Conclusions: Our study importantly as well as interestingly shows a conspicuous absence of association with the traditional risk factors, tobacco and alcohol.

Background: Selecting priority occupational carcinogens is important for cancer prevention efforts; however, standardized selection methods are not available. The objective of this paper was to describe the methods used by CAREX Canada in 2015 to establish priorities for preventing occupational cancer, with a focus on exposure estimation and descriptive profiles. Methods: Four criteria were used in an expert assessment process to guide carcinogen prioritization: (1) the likelihood of presence and/or use in Canadian workplaces; (2) toxicity of the substance (strength of evidence for carcinogenicity and other health effects); (3) feasibility of producing a carcinogen profile and/or an occupational estimate; and (4) special interest from the public/scientific community. Carcinogens were ranked as high, medium or low priority based on specific conditions regarding these criteria, and stakeholder input was incorporated. Priorities were set separately for the creation of new carcinogen profiles and for new occupational exposure estimates. Results: Overall, 246 agents were reviewed for inclusion in the occupational priorities list. For carcinogen profile generation, 103 were prioritized (11 high, 33 medium, and 59 low priority), and 36 carcinogens were deemed priorities for occupational exposure estimation (13 high, 17 medium, and 6 low priority). Conclusion: Prioritizing and ranking occupational carcinogens is required for a variety of purposes, including research, resource allocation at different jurisdictional levels, calculations of occupational cancer burden, and planning of CAREX-type projects in different countries. This paper outlines how this process was achieved in Canada; this may provide a model for other countries and jurisdictions as a part of occupational cancer prevention efforts.

Seek management and environmental solutions that promote competitiveness environmental aspect recognize need for a commitment to continuous improvement of a it's decision making model. Provide business with tools and methodologies to make better environmental choices and understand the environmental effects of resource flows. A last of understand use of the Decision Making element principal as a guideline for evaluating and ranking approaches. The result of this study are summarized as follows; (1) setting for approach decision management select of the change environment police, (2) making improvements of developing operational controls setting targets, (3) measuring and achieving success of EMS, (4) decision making system on the Environment and Management
The Bioconcentration factor(BCF) is used as an important criterion in the risk assessment of environmental contaminants. Also it can be used as indicator of biomagnification of environmentally hazardous chemicals through food-chain as well as a tool for ranking the bioconcentration potential of the chemicals in the environment. This paper reports the measured BCF value on carbofuran in Carassius auratus(goldfish), under steady state, and examined corelation between the BCF value and the depuration rate constant. Carassius auratus(goldfish) was chosen as test organism and test periods were 1-day, 3-day and 5-day. Experimental concentrations were 0.05, 0.10 and 0.50 ppm. Carbofuran in fish tissue and in test water was extracted with n-hexane and acetonitril. GC-ECD was used to detect and quantitate carbofuran. The depuration rate of carbofuran from the whole body of goldfish is determined over the 24-h period after treatment. The obtained results were as follows: 1. It was possible to determine short term BCFs of carbofuran through relatively simple procedure in environmental concentrations. 2. $BCF_1$ of carbofuran in concentration of 0.05, 0.10 and 0.50 ppm were 1.66, 1.64 0.61, $BCF_3$ were 2.08, 2.14, 0.66 and $BCF_5$ were 2.21, 2.57, 0.86, respectively. 3. Carbofuran concentration in fish extract was increased as increasing test concentration and prolonging test period, but $BCF_s$ in concentration of 0.50 ppm was greately decreased. 4. Determined deputation rate constants of carbofuran in concentration of 0.05, 0.10, 0.50 ppm were 0.076, 0.082 and 0.089, respectively. 5. It is considered that great decrease of $BCF_s$ in concentration of 0.50 ppm is due to high water solubility and stability of carbofuran in testwater. 6. It is suggested that low BCF of carbofuran is due to its relatively high water solubility and depuration rate, compared to BPMC, carbaryl and chlorothalonil.

The study has suggested a way to minimize safety accidents found in on-site firefighting activity by analyzing firefighters' [investigation report on accidents to on-sie workers]. The study result is described as follows. First, the result of [investigation report on on-site workers] shows that while accidents are found to most frequently have occurred to low-ranking firefighting officers such as Sobangsa and Sobanggyo and firefighting officers with career of less than 5 years, fire-extinguishing activity proved to be the most prone to accidents in the category of activity. Second, analysis performed to identify variance between injury extent and area based on cause of accident shows statistically significant variance. In addition, the result of verifying difference in cause of accident based on category of activity shows significant difference with 'falling over and sliding' being the highly likely cause of accident in fire containment and rescue activities and 'reckless move' being highly likely case of accident in emergency activities. Third, the result of verifying factors behind the extent of injury done to on-site workers shows that when accident is caused by 'incomplete behavior', it was found that the extent of injury is substantial. It was also found that rescue activity is accompanied by substantial extent of injury. As a solution to this, the study suggested ways to establish, extend and operate safety-specific curriculum for entrants, develop materials regarding risk prognosis training and explicate training-related regulations, set up safety management measure for a single squad team, upgrade performance of private protection equipment, institutionalize SOP by on-site activity stage, materialize and activate swift rescue team and increase objectivity and proficiency of safety accident investigation.
Background: Green tea extracts are approved as nonprescription drug and available as health functional foods, health foods, and beverages. Clinical information on the products is lacking. Methods: Information about the products on green tea nonprescription drugs was obtained from the website of the Korea Pharmaceutical Information Center. The Naver, i.e., a top ranking online search portal, was used for compiling the list of the health functional food products using key words of 'green tea catechin' on August 23, 2018. The recommended daily dosages of catechins were calculated as 30% of the total dried mass of green tea and about 50% of the catechins were considered as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Results: A total of two types of nonprescription drugs containing green tea powder or extracts, nine health functional food products, and three types of health foods were found. The regulatory requirements of the EGCG exceeding 800 mg were reported to be associated with adverse effects of elevated liver enzyme. If consumers take several green tea products concurrently, such as nonprescription drugs with health functional foods or health foods, it could exceed the recommended amount of EGCG. Conclusion: The concurrent use of green tea products as nonprescription drugs, health functional foods, and healthy foods may lead to an increased exposure to EGCG. Pharmacists should be aware the availability of various types of green tea products and the potential risk of liver toxicity due to excessive consumption of EGCG.

The objective of this study was to conduct a systematic review and network meta-analysis to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of various types of acupuncture for menopausal hot flashes (HF). Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were retrieved from 8 electronic databases, and the risk of bias was evaluated for the included studies. Pairwise meta-analysis and network meta-analysis were performed using Review Manager and R software for indirect comparison and ranking, respectively. In total, 23 RCTs (2,302 patients) were eligible for systematic review, of which 10 were included in network meta-analysis. Network meta-analysis showed manual acupuncture (MA) had the highest probability of reducing HF frequency and severity, followed by sham acupuncture (SA), electroacupuncture, usual care, or no treatment; furthermore, warm acupuncture significantly improved menopause-specific quality of life compared with MA or electroacupuncture. Compared with hormone replacement therapy, acupuncture had less efficacy in reducing HF frequency but enhanced menopause-specific quality of life. There was no significant difference between MA and SA in mitigating HF. The existing evidence showed that MA could be used for alleviating menopausal HF. However, it is recommended that more high-quality RCTs should be performed.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze factors related to the functional state of stroke patients after discharge from hospital. Methods : The data was provided from a hospital in Wonju, Gangwon-do. The subjects of the analysis were those who were admitted to the emergency room due to stroke from July to December 2016. The dependent variable was the patient's functional status as measured by the modified Rankin Scale(mRS). Independent variables were demographic factors (age, sex, and marriage status), transportation and distance factors (transportation, travel distance), inpatient factors (lengths of stay, Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI), Tissue plasminogen activator, National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Hierarchial regression analysis was applied for the analysis. Results : In the hierarchical regression analysis, Model 3, including socio-demographic factors, transportation, distance factors, and inpatient factors, was the best fitted model. It showed that functional status of stroke patients was positively associated with age, length of stay, CCI, NIHSS, and negatively associated with unmarried status. Conclusions : Results indicated that management of stroke requires care from the pre-disease stage, and a customized education program policy is needed for high-risk stroke patients who are older and have comorbid illness.
