The Minority's struggle for recognition in the life history of Korean-Chinese female leaders (재한 중국동포 여성단체장의 생애사에 나타난 소수자의 인정투쟁)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the experience of recognition struggle, which is a positive interaction with Korean society, through the life history research of the researcher ' The study was conducted as a narrative - life history analysis method. Life history data were collected through in-depth interviews. As a result of the study, the lifetime of the life history research subject, as a result of the constant challenge, considered Korea as the opportunity land and voluntarily migrated to Korea. He can analyze Korea as a fierce life to gain recognition by utilizing positive adaptation strategies. In other words, through the positive interaction of recognition struggle, he negotiated with the mainstream society and established his identity through positive experiences. In addition, through group activities, we have endeavored to protect the rights of the individual as well as the whole society and to improve the image and to integrate with the mainstream society. Through this reconstruction of life history, we can understand the life situation of Chinese leaders and know about the qualities they want to receive in Korean society. Therefore, it is suggested that this reconstruction of life history implies social welfare practice.

Effects of the External Variables of the RFID System for Eco-friendly Agricultural Products on Perceived Value and Behavioral Intention : Applying an Expanded TAM (친환경농산물 RFID 시스템의 외부변수들이 지각된 가치 및 행동의도에 미치는 영향 : 확장된 TAM 모델을 적용하여)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate what influence the external variables of the RFID system for eco-friendly agricultural products such as reliability, safety, effectiveness and innovation have on ease and usefulness, perceived value and behavioral intention. An empirical analysis were conducted to the general consumers over the age of 20 years who live in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas having experience of buying eco-friendly agricultural products in department stores, supermarkets and eco-friendly agricultural product specialty stores from November 10 to November 23, 2012, A total of 350 copies of questionnaire were distributed for this research and, excluding partial ones that were too concentrated on one side or found missing values, a total of 305 copies(87.1%) were used as the final statistical analysis data. The result shows that such external variables of the RFID system for eco-friendly agricultural products as liability, safety, effectiveness and innovation are useful enough as a theoretical basis for later study on RFID systems for eco-friendly agricultural products. Also, it reveals that, since all the process from production to sale of agricultural products can be seen, the products are provided safely for consumers, are objectively and rapidly investigated when problems occur, induce a positive attitude with their historical information, and are supplied through systematic management such as consumers' rights to know and choose and recall of unfit products.

  • Changing our monopoly broadcasting advertising system into free competition system may give rise to serious troubles that intensify commercialism of broadcasting and reduce diversity of public opinion. In the boundaries of public interest out of danger, korean broadcasting system should adopt a system that partially adopts the principle of free market. Broadcasting advertising sale system affect the whole broadcasting system because it functions as an effective capital-resource provider. Thus, it affects the broadcasting policies' righteousness and efficiency. Due to the non-elastic nature of the total advertising market, broadcasting advertising's size affects other media's capital allocation process. Therefore, broadcasting advertising sales system not only affects broadcast's social duty and public interest, but also affects the whole media industry. First, provide fair and open-competitive measures to support broadcast sales policy so that the market-based system can be run smoothly. Second, block any un-due influence from advertisers by separating production/programming and advertising sales. Third, sustain public broadcast system, not based on the advertising sales but based on the subscription fee. Fourth, social intervention of the advertising market. Fifth, provide policies that can set up multiple media channels/outlets and public opinion. By providing the minimum capital resources to the public broadcasting system, the broadcasting system can act on its public-interest duty and support the people's right-to-know rights.

A Study on 50 states' Open Meeting Act in the United States (미국 50개 주 회의공개법 연구)

  • This study aims to elucidate the implications for 20 years of the establishment of the information disclosure law by analyzing contents of the public regulations of 50 states of the United States. For the purpose, it looks at the general outline of the open meetings law of the 50 states, including the requirements and procedure of the advance notification of the meeting, and the protest procedure and penalties for the violation of the law. As a result of analysis, under the law, public meetings should announce their schedule and agenda in advance, and minutes of meetings and recording of meetings should be accessible to citizens. Furthermore, a person who violates the law for opening meetings could be fined or imprisoned. The implications for the establishment of the Open Meetings Act in Korea are as follows: First, the open meeting system starts with the appropriate period and method of advance notice of meeting holding. Second, the substantive contents of the advance notification guarantee the effectiveness of the meeting disclosure system. Third, the method and subject of advance notification should be as wide and diverse as possible. Fourth, all decisions of the meeting that violate the law are null and void. Fifth, a system should be set up so that any citizen could easily raise objections to the violation of the law. Sixth, the person who violates the law should be held responsible. Lastly, citizen access to minutes, recordings as well as comprehensive meeting minutes writing including attendees, agendas, and ballots should be guaranteed.

Staged Improvement in Awareness of Disease for Elderly Cancer Patients in Southern China

  • Background: In mainland China, awareness of disease of elderly cancer patients largely relies on the patients' families. We developed a staged procedure to improve their awareness of disease. Materials and Methods: Participants were 224 elderly cancer patients from 9 leading hospitals across Southern China. A questionnaire was given to the oncologists in charge of each patient to evaluate the interaction between family and patients, patient awareness of their disease and participation in medical decision-making. After first cycles of treatment, increased information of disease was given to patients with cooperation of the family. Then patient awareness of their disease and participation in medical decision-making was documented. Results: Among the 224 cancer elderly patients, 26 (11.6%) made decisions by themselves and 125 (55.8%) delegated their rights of decision-making to their family. Subordinate family members tended to play a passive role in decision-making significantly. Patients participating more in medical decision-making tended to know more about their disease. However, in contrast to the awareness of disease, patient awareness of violation of medical recommendations was reversely associated with their participation in medical decision-making. Improvement in awareness of diagnosis, stages and prognosis was achieved in about 20% elderly cancer patients. About 5% participated more actively in medical decision-making. Conclusions: Chinese elderly cancer patient awareness of disease and participation in medical decision-making is limited and relies on their family status. The staged procedure we developed to improve patient awareness of disease proved effective.
