The electro-chemical decolorization of Rhodamine B (RhB) in water has been carried out by electro Fenton-like process. The effect of distance, material and shape of electrode, NaCl concentration, current, electric power, $H_2O_2$ and pH have been studied. The results obtained that decrease of RhB concentration of Fe(+)-Fe(-) electrode system was higher than that of other electrode system. The decrease of RhB concentration was not affected electrode distance and shape. Decolorization of electro Fenton-like reaction, which was added $H_2O_2$ onto the electrolysis using electrode was higher than electrolysis. Addition of NaCl decreased the electric consumption. The lower pH is, the faster initial reaction rate and reaction termination time observed.
The biosorption of dye, Rhodamine B(Rh-B), onto waste activated sludge was investigated. The biosorption capacity and contact time were shown as a simulation of dye adsorption equilibrium and kinetics models. We observed that biosorption of Rh-B occurred rapidly less than 4 hr. These experimental data could be better fitted by a pseudo-second-order rate equation than a pseudo-first-order rate equation. The equilibrium dependence between biosorption capacity and initial concentration of Rh-B was estimated and it was found that the equilibrium data of biosorption were fitted by four kinds of model such as Langmuir, Freundlich, Redlich-Peterson, and Koble-Corrigan model. The average percentage errors, $\varepsilon(\%)$, observed between experimental and predicted values by above each model were $21.19\%,\;9.97\%,\;10.10\%\;and\;11.76\%$, respectively, indicating that Freundlich and Redlich-Peterson model could be fitted more accrately than other models.
The energy levels are very important to investigate properties of organic dye materials. These values of energy levels can be calculated and compared with absorption spectra, cyclic voltammetric measurement and computer simulative calculation. In this study, absorption and emission changes were observed by complexation between rhodamine 6G based dye and mercury. This is related to spirolactam ring system of rhodamine 6G based dye. According to structural change of this dye, HOMO and LUMO energy levels were investigated and determined by their values with different approaches.
A colorimetric chemosensors $Sn^{2+}$ have been designed and synthesized by three steps. The spirolactam ring-opening process of rhodamine B is one of the most useful mechanisms for controlling fluorescence properties. Herein, new fluorescent chemosensors 1 and 2 based on rhodamine B containing phenothiazine derivertive were synthesized. They exhibit selective fluorescence enhancement behaviour in the presence of $Sn^{2+}$ ion. Complexation between these compounds and the metal cations were confirmed through continuous variation method. It is observed that compounds 1, 2, and $Sn^{2+}$ ion are complexed by 1:1 formation. Especially the proposed compounds 1 and 2 exhibit quick, simple and facile synthetic route.
In this study, we synthesized fluorescent sensors from rhodamine 6G derivatives and hydroxy coumarin. The synthetic routes to the rhodamine 6G derivatives containing hydroxy coumarin are shown in Fig. 1. Two derivatives were synthesized through Schiff base reactions. The structures of the new compounds were confirmed by melting point, $^1H$-NMR, and GC-MS analyses. The compounds were found to selectively bind to tin ($Sn^{2+}$) ion by fluorescence titration using various metal cations. Longer carbon chains gave more sensitivity. $Sn^{2+}$ ions exhibited the strongest fluorescence among the nime ions. The binding analysis using Job plots suggested that compounds form 1:1 complexes with the $Sn^{2+}$ ions.
Lead molybdate ($PbMoO_4$) were successfully synthesized using a facile surfactant-assisted hydrothermal process and characterized by XRD, Raman, PL, BET and DRS. We also investigated the photocatalytic activity of these materials for the decomposition of Rhodamine B under UV-light irradiation. From XRD and Raman results, well-crystallized $PbMoO_4$ crystals have been successfully synthesized with a facile surfactant-assisted hydrothermal process and had 52-69 nm particle size. The $PbMoO_4$ catalysts prepared at $160^{\circ}C$ showed the highest photocatalytic activity. The PL peak was appeared at about 540 nm at all catalysts and it was also shown that the excitonic PL signal was proportional to the photocatalytic activity for the decomposition of Rhodamine B.

We fabricated photo-sensor for fluorescence detection in LOC. LOC is high throughput screening system. Our LOC screens biochemical reaction of protein using the immunoassay, and converts biochemical reaction into electrical signal using LIF(Laser Induced Fluorescence) detection method. Protein is labeled with rhodamine intercalating dye and finger PIN photodiode is used as photo-sensor We measured fluorescence emission of rhodamine dye and analyzed tendency of fluorescence detection, according to photo-sensor size, light intensity, and rhodamine concentration. Detection current was almost linearly proportional to two parameters, intensity and concentration, and was inversely proportional to photo-sensor size. Integrated LOC consists of optical-filter deposited photo-sensor and PDMS microchannel detected 50 (pg/${mu}ell$) rhodamine. For integrated LOC including light source, we used green LED as the light source and measured emitted fluorescence.
PVA/silica hybrid xerogels were synthesized by sonohydrolysis of a mixture of 2-way catalyzed TEOS and water solution of PVA. PVA was successfully removed from the xerogels through calcination and its removal was confirmed through TGA analysis of the calcined gel. Microstructure of the gels was studied through SEM, XRD and FTIR. Nitrogen sorption studies were conducted to find out surface area of different samples. It was found out that the samples having PVA removed through calcinations have higher surface area (411.64 $m^2$/g) than the samples (353.544 $m^2$/g) synthesized without any PVA. Adsorption properties of these xerogels synthesized by using different ratios of components were studied by taking Rhodamine G6 as a model adsorbate. The experiments were conducted at room temperature ($25^{\circ}C$). UV visible spectroscopy was used to measure the concentration of the dye before and after adsorption. The adsorption data of Rhodamine G6 on PVA modified silica is described by the Freundlich's adsorption model.
Two new chemosensors, rhodamine 6G derivative bearing hydroxyethyl group (1) and rhodamine base derivative bearing 15-crown-5 group (2) were synthesized and their sensing behaviors toward various metal ions were investigated by UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopies. Addition of $Hg^{2+}$ ion to a $CH_3CN$ solution of 1 and 2 gave visual color changes as well as fluorescent OFF-ON observations. Selectivity and sensitivity of 1 towards $Hg^{2+}$ are excellent enough to detect micromolar level of $Hg^{2+}$ ion, even in equeous media and biological sample (HeLa cell).
Rhodamine B (RhB) and rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) were employed as catalysts for the synthesis of cyclic carbonate from carbon dioxide and epoxide. It turned out that the catalytic activity of Rh6G was nearly 29 times higher than that of RhB at 1 atm pressure, $90^{\circ}C$. Furthermore, the catalytic efficiency of RhB and Rh6G was greatly enhanced with triethylamine as co-catalyst. Under the optimized conditions, the best isolated yield (93%) of cyclic carbonate was achieved without organic solvent and metal component.
