Creep-fatigue crack growth models have been proposed employing $(C_t)_{avg}$ as a crack tip parameter characterizing the time-dependent crack growth. The basic assumptions made in these previous models were ideal creep reversal conditions such as no creep reversal and complete creep reversal condition. Due to this assumption, the applicability of the models was limited since they did not consider partial creep reversal condition which is usually observed in many engineering metals at high temperature. In this paper the creep reversal parameter, Temperature;$C_R$, which was defined by Grover, is critically evaluated to quantity the extent of partial creep reversal at the crack tip. This approach does not rely on any simplifying assumptions regarding the extent of the amount of creep reversal during the unloading part of a trapezoidal fatigue cycles. It is shown that the $(C_t)_{avg}$ value calculated for 9Cr steel agrees well with the experimentally measured one. It is argued that the extent of improvement is not significant when the result is compared with that of the conventional model which has an assumption of full creep reversal behavior.

The ability of time reversal techniques to focus ultrasonic beams on the source location is important in many aspects of ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation. In this paper, we investigate the time reversal beam focusing of ultrasonic array sensors on a defect in layered media. Numerical modeling is performed using the commercially available software which employs a time domain finite difference method. Two different time reversal approaches are considered - the through transmission and the pulse-echo. Linear array sensors composed of N elements of line sources are used for signal reception/excitation, time reversal, and reemission in time reversal processes associated with the scattering source of a side-drilled hole located in the second layer of two layer structure. The simulation results demonstrate the time reversal focusing even with multiple reflections from the interface of layered structure. We examine the focusing resolution that is related to the propagation distance, the size of array sensor and the wavelength.
Five hundred and fory-four women were provided government funded sterilization reversal services with technique of microsurgery at 15 reversal institutions designated by the Korean Association for Voluntary Sterilization since the inception of Female Reversal Program in 1981. A large majority of reasons for requesting reversal surgery was a loss of children, comprising 87.3%, and the mean interval between sterilization and reversal was 33.6 months. Two hundred and ninty-one of 418 women who were post-operatively followed up with the length of 11 months to 11 years, have experienced term dilivery or ,intra-uterine pregnancy, represented 69.6%. Eight cases have experienced ectopic pregnancy and 9 cases spontaneous abortion. The largest number of reversal clients were sterilized by the laparoscopic unipolar coagulation technique and the next largest group was sterilized by the laparoscopic banding technique, representing 59.8% and 28.9% respectively. The highest pregnancy rate, 80.9%, was shown in clients who had undergone laparoscopic banding technique while the lowest, 61.8%, was the group of laparoscopic bipolar coagulation. The most common site of the anastomosis was isthmic-ampullary portion and the next was isthmic-isthmic portion. The highest success rate, 77.8 %, was marked in the isthmic-isthmic anastomosis and the lowest was in the ampullary-ampullary anastomosis, representing 50.0%. A more than 60% of the clients became pregnant within 6 months of their reversal surgery, with the shortest interval being 1 month, the longest 39 months, and the mean 7.6 months. A large majority of the successful cases were pregnancy within 1 year of their reversal surgery, representing 82.1 %. The higher rate of pregnancy, 73.5%, was in the clients undergone reversal surgery within 36 months of their sterilization and the lower pregnancy rate, 64.1 %, was in the clients undergone reversal surgery longer than 37 months of their sterilization.

In this paper, a closed-form expression of the ergodic channel capacity for a narrow-band time-reversal communication scheme is analytically formulated. In the time-reversal communication scenario, a transmitter sends a signal and a so-called time-reversal array receives the signal. Then, the received signal is reversed in the time do main and resent to the original transmitter. Here, one transmitter and an antenna array for the time-reversal array are assumed. Since the spacing between the array elements is large, the signals received by each antenna element can be considered independent. For simplicity, the communication channel is assumed stationary, whose properties are not changed for the time-reversal process. Based on the obtained formulation, the channel capacities for the time-reversal and the conventional channels are compared.
Waterhammer and slamming phenomena can occur when power is cut off due to reversal flow in pipeline and sudden close of check valve. Therefore analysis of reversal flow time, which means the time of reversal flow in pipeline due to pumping station blackout, is needed to protect facilities from waterhammer economically and efficiently. However systematic study on reversal flow time has not been done yet. So theory of reversal flow time analysis is proposed and verified with experiment using several parameters like pump specific speed, motor pole number, and characteristic curve of pipeline in this study.

Objective: To determine the reproductive outcomes of women undergoing microsurgical reversal of tubal sterilization at age 36 years or older. Materials and Methods: A series of 133 patients who received microsurgical reversal of the previously sterilized fallopian tubes at Seoul National University Hospital from July, 1980 to January, 1992 was reviewed and evaluated for clinical characteristics, pregnancy rates, and factors influencing the outcome of tubal reversal. Results: Of 133 patients, 78 (58.6%) had been sterilized by laparoscopic cautery. Loss of children was a leading cause for tubal reversal. The mean interval from tubal sterilization to tubal reversal was 65.0 months. The overall pregnancy rate was 52.6% (70/133), and the mean interval was 9.4 months from tubal reversal to pregnancy. Excluding 7 patients who were lost to follow-up, 76 pregnancies were confirmed in 63 patients with the delivery rate per patient of 66.7% (42/63). There were no significant differences in age, duration of tubal sterilization, postoperative tubal length between pregnant and non-pregnant groups. Conclusions: Microsurgical reversal of tubal sterilization could be a justifiable method in women 36 years age or older.

We present the magnetisation reversal dynamics of epitaxial Fe thin films grown on GaAs(001) and InAs(001) studied as a function of field sweep rate in the range 0.01-160 kOe/s using magneto-optic Kerr effect (MOKE). For 55 and 250 ${\AA}$ Fe/GaAs(001), we find that the hysteresis loop area A follows the scaling relation A ∝ H$\^$${\alpha}$/ with ${\alpha}$=0.03∼0.05 at low sweep rates and 0.33-0.40 at high sweep rates. For the 150 ${\AA}$ Fe/InAs(001) film, ${\alpha}$ is found to be ∼0.02 at low sweep rates and ∼0.17 at high sweep rates. The differing values of ${\alpha}$ are attributed to a change of the magnetisation reversal process with increasing sweep rate. Domain wall motion dominates the magnetisation reversal at low sweep rates, but becomes less significant with increasing sweep rate. At high sweep rates, the variation of the dynamic coercivity H$\sub$c/ is attributed to domain nucleation dominating the reversal process. The results of magnetic relaxation studies for easy-axis reversal are consistent with the sweeping of one or more walls through the entire probed region (∼100 $\mu\textrm{m}$). Domain images obtained by scanning Kerr microscopy during the easy cubic axis reversal process reveal large area domains separated by zigzag walls.
Blue tilapia, Oreochromis aureus swim-up fry were fed,0, 1, 10, or 60 ppm $17\alpha-methyltestosterone$(MT) for 30 days (sex reversal period). Fish that had been fed 0 ppm MT during the sex reversal period were subsequently fed 0 ppm MT (0-0), 10 ppm MT (0-10) or 60 ppm MT (0-60) for the next 57 days (post sex reversal period) ; fish that had been fed 60 ppm MT during the sex reversal period were subsequently fed 0 ppm MT (60-0), 10 ppm MT (60-10), or 60 ppm MT (60-60) during the post sex reversal period. One group was fed 1 ppm MT (1-1), while another group was fed 10 ppm MT (10-10) during the entire 87-day experiment. There was a significant inverse relationship between concentration of MT and percentage body protein and percentage body fat at the end of the sex reversal period, while there was a significant positive relationship between concentration of MT and percentage body moisture. MT treatment during the post sex reversal period had greater effects on body composition of males at the end of the post sex reversal period than did MT treatment during the sex reversal period. There was a significant inverse relationship between MT concentrations, during both the sex reversal and post sex reversal periods, and gonosomatic indices (GSI) in males. In females, there was a significant inverse relationship between MT concentrations during the post sex reversal period and GSI.

During the last three years, the possibility of the time reversal Lamb waves has been paid attention to for structural health monitoring of a plate. This study proposes a numerical scheme which can simulate the spatial focusing of time reversal Lamb waves on a rectangular plate. In this scheme, a time reversal process is formulated in the frequency domain using active virtual sensors being equivalent to the mirror effects of an actual sensor due to wave reflection on the plate boundary. Forward and backward Lamb wave propagations are represented by scalar functions for simulating the spatial focusing of time reversal Lamb waves. The validity of the proposed scheme is demonstrated through the comparison to the results of finite element analysis in which the spatial focusing of time reversal Lamb waves is realized by wafer-type piezoelectric(PZT) transducers collocated on a rectangular plate.

We compare the detection probabilities of the time-reversal(TR) detection system and the conventional radar system. The target is assumed to be hidden inside a random medium such as a forest. We propose a TR detection system based on the SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) algorithm. Unlike the conventional SAR images, the proposed TR-SAR system has an interesting property. Specifically, the target-related signal components due to the time-reversal refocusing characteristics, as well as some of clutter-related signal components are concentrated at the time-reversal reference point. The remaining clutter-related signal components are scattered around that reference point. In this paper, we model the random media as a collection of point scatterers to avoid unnecessary complexities. We calculate the detection probability of the TR radar system based on the proposed simple random media model.
