Peeled chestnuts were stored at different temperatures($-10^{\circ}C$ and $-20^{\circ}C$) and after blanching at $90^{\circ}C$ for different lengths of time(0, 10, and 20 min) for 6 months. After the storage period, the texture, color, DSC and sensory characteristics were analyzed. Hardness, fracturability and chewiness increased with storage time, whereas springiness and cohesiveness decreased. Additionally, the L* decreased and a* and b* increased with storage time. Analysis of the DSC revealed that the peak of the retro gradation was approximately $46{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ and enthalpy for the peak increased with storage time. Additionally, the increment of enthalpy for samples stored at $-20^{\circ}C$ and blanched was lower than that of samples stored at $-10^{\circ}C$ and non-blanched samples. The sensory evaluation scores were also higher for samples stored at $-20^{\circ}C$ and blanched samples than for those stored at $10^{\circ}C$ and non-blanched samples.

Retroreflective article is different from other reflecting objects as it returns the incidence ray to the near of its source. This characteristic makes the retroreflectors have many applications in reflective highway signs, reflective vests, and other safety-relaxed items. These articles may have various shapes. However, the quantitative evaluation of performance for the best shape of retroreflector needs much time and cost for manufacturing prototypes and for performance experiments. In this work, we have developed a program for simulating the trace of ray entered into a retroreflective element, in order to determine the optimal shape of retro-reflection. We have also proposed new performance criterion of retroreflective articles, which can confide the range of incidence angle, instead of the criterion with the merely retroreflective strength.

This paper presents the development of videobased 3-dimensional tracking system. Measurement of human motion is important in the application of ertonomics. The system uses advanced direct video measurement technology. Passive retro-reflecting markers are attached to a subject and movements of markers are observed by two CCD cameras. Infrared light emitted near the CCD cameras is reflected by the markers and is detected by the cameras. The images are captured by Samsung MVB302 board and the centers of markers are calculated by DSP program. The positions of markers are transferred from MVB02 board to the computer through AT bus. The computer then tracks the position of each marker and saves the data. This system has dynamic accuracy with 0.7% average error and 4.2% maximum error, and the sampling rate to 6 .approx. 10 Hz, and this system can analyse the trajectory and speed of the marker. The results of this study can be used for operator's motion analysis, task analysis, and hand movement characteristic analysis.

HIV와 유사하게 retro virus의 일종인 Friend virus of Anemia strain (FVA)을 BALB/c mice 에게 감염시 reverse transcriptase 의 활성에 의해 비장의 erythroid progenitor cell 에서 증식되므로서 비장의 비대 및 빈혈을 초래하게 된다. 이를 지표로 하여 reverse transcriptase 억제작용을 지닌 항 virus 약물을 천연성분으로 부터 검색하고자 하였다. 우선, 대조약물로 사용한 기존의 항 AIDS 약물인 zidovudine (AZT) 을 FVA 가 감염된 BAB/c mice 에게 18일간 투여시 (약 100 mg/kg/day, p.o. ) 대조군에 비해 비장의 비대 및 reverse transcriptase 활성이 90% 이상 억제되었으며, 이들의 혈청을 정상 BALB/c mice 에게 재투여시에도 유사한 결과를 나타내어 reverse transcriptase 를 억제하므로서 항 virus 작용을 나타낸다는 것을 입증하였다. 그러나, 혈액중 Hemoglobin등 빈혈의 지수는 대조군과 유사한 수치를 나타내므로서 정상으로 회복되지를 못하였다. 이것은 zidovudine 자체가 지니는 골수억제에 의한 부작용 때문인 것으로 고려된다.

Korea multi-purpose satellite-5 (KOMPSAT-5) is a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite scheduled to be launched in 2010. To satisfy the precision orbit determination (POD) requirement for a high resolution synthetic aperture radar image of KOMPSAT-5, KOMPSAT-5 has atmosphere occultation POD (AOPOD) system which consists of a space-borne dual frequency global positioning system (GPS) receiver and a laser retro reflector array. A space-borne dual frequency GPS receiver on a LEO satellite provides position data for the POD and radio occultation data for scientific applications. This paper describes an overview of AOPOD system and operation concepts of the radio occultation mission in KOMPSAT-5. We showed AOPOD system satisfies the requirements of KOMPSAT-5 in performance and stability.

In this paper, a SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) method using a single camera and planar fiducial markers is proposed. Fiducial markers are planar patterns that are mounted on the ceiling or wall. Each fiducial marker has a unique hi-tonal identification pattern with square outlines. It can be printed on paper to reduce cost or it can be painted using retro-reflective paint in order to make invisible and prevent undesirable visual effects. Existing localization methods using artificial landmarks have the disadvantage that landmark locations must be known a priori. In contrast, the proposed method can build a map and estimate robot location even if landmark locations are not known a priori. Hence, it reduces installation time and setup cost. The proposed method works good even when only one fiducial marker is seen at a scene. We perform computer simulation to evaluate proposed method.

Neurofibromas are benign tumors that originate from the peripheral nerves, including neurites and fibroblasts. Generally, a solitary neurofibroma is located in the skin and rarely in other places. A 72-year-old female suffered from epigastric discomfort for 2 months. Endoscopic findings showed an early gastric cancer type IIc at the antrum. Abdominal computed tomography revealed early gastric cancer with a 1.6 cm-sized metastatic node posterior to the duodenum. Laparoscopic assisted distal gastrectomy and retro-pancreatic dissection were performed uneventfully. Histological examination revealed gastric adenocarcinoma, invading the mucosa without nodal metastasis, and a neurofibroma. Herein, we present a case of a gastric cancer patient with a solitary retroperitoneal neurofibroma which mimicked a distant metastatic node.

The purpose of this study is to examine how the Chanel Collection, a famous brand acknowledged for it's modern style, was influenced by post-modernism. The scope of research includes initial concentration on 1920's boyish style of Chanel as well as its relative influence on modernism. Secondly, the research concentrates on Chanel Collections that Lagerfeld's designs were best represented. The results were as follows: The tendency to eroticism for fashion business, tendency to retro-fashion, tendency to popularization of sub-cultural group's fashion, tendency to no-match-mix, tendency to androgynous style, tendency to emphasis on ornaments in clothing.

처마 끝에 열리는 고드름은 흔히 겨울철에 내린 눈이 지붕위에 쌓여 있다가 따사로운 햇살이 비치면 녹은 눈이 중력에 의해 흘러내리면서 영하의 찬 기류에 얼면서 성장하여 길게 매달린다. 그러나 땅바닥이나 물그릇 속에서 위로 자라 올라오는 역고드름은 특별히 그곳에서만 지상의 역 중력이 작용할 이유가 없기 때문에 간단히 해석되기가 쉽지 않다. 겨울밤에 정안수를 놋그릇에 떠놓고 공불기도를 올리다가 물이 어면서 나타나는 기이한 역 고드름은 물이 얼면서 생긴 표면의 숨구멍을 통하여 물보다 저밀도인 얼음의 체적이 불어서 밀려나오면서 생길 수 있으나, 이 현상만으로는 역고드름이 그렇게 크게 자랄 수가 얼다. 따라서 이 경우는 주변에서 불어오는 찬 기류가 지형지물에 부딪히면서 회오리쳐 소슬바람을 일으킬 때 일시적인 부압이 작용하여 그릇속의 물이 숨구멍을 통해 나오면서 얼어 성장되는 현상이 부가적으로 상승작용을 일으켜 길게 자라 올라온 것이다.
