An Architecture for the Expert System for the Telecommunications Internetworking Design

  • CBR is a knowledge-based system that utilizes the previous knowledge or experience to solve the current problem. In previous CBR research, the emphases are mainly put on the development of more sophisticated indexing mechanism for past cases or the most similar case retrieving methodology out of a group of previous cases. In this paper, discussed is a CBR system that is able to take advantage of the case or knowledge that does not belong to the past in the telecommunications internetworking design area. And the architecture for such CBR system is proposed. Finally, the performance of the CBR system is shown through an ablation experiment.

Study of Retrieving the Aerosol Size Distribution from Aerosol Optical Depths (에어로졸 광학깊이를 이용한 에어로졸 크기분포 추출 연구)

  • In this study, aerosol size distributions were retrieved from aerosol optical depth measured over a range of 10 wavelengths from 250 to 1100 nm. The 10 wavelengths were selected where there is no absorption of atmospheric gases. To obtain the solar spectrum, a home-made solar tracking system was developed and calibrated. Using this solar tracking system, total optical depths (TODs) were extracted for the 10 wavelengths using the Langley plot method, and aerosol optical depths (AODs) were obtained after removing the effects of gas absorption and Rayleigh scattering from the TODs. The algorithm for retrieving aerosol size distributions was suggested by assuming a bimodal aerosol size distribution. Aerosol size distributions were retrieved and compared under various arbitrary atmospheric conditions. Finally, we found that our solar tracking spectrometer is useful for retrieving the aerosol size distribution, even though we have little information about the aerosol's refractive index.

Contents-based Image Retrieval using Fuzzy ART Neural Network (퍼지 ART 신경망을 이용한 내용기반 영상검색)

  • This paper proposes content-based image retrieval system with fuzzy ART neural network algorithm. Retrieving large database of image data, the clustering is essential for fast retrieval. However, it is difficult to cluster huge image data pertinently, Because current retrieval methods using similarities have several problems like low accuracy of retrieving and long retrieval time, a solution is necessary to complement these problems. This paper presents a content-based image retrieval system with neural network in order to reinforce abovementioned problems. The retrieval system using fuzzy ART algorithm normalizes color and texture as feature values of input data between 0 and 1, and then it runs after clustering the input data. The implemental result with 300 image data shows retrieval accuracy of approximately 87%.

Retrieving of Compositionally Similar Images Using Straight Line Elements (직선 성분을 이용하는 구도가 유사한 사진 검색 방법)

  • According to photography, lines are important elements that make composition and mood of photo. In this paper, we proposed a measure for compositional dissimilarity between photos using lines which are basic elements of photography. To identify patterns of lines which classify composition of photos, we investigated both features of compositionally same photos and compositionally different photos. Then we developed effective measure for compositional dissimilarity between photos by applying the investigated features to the measure, and we implemented an image searching system which retrieves photo compositionally similar to given query to evaluate performance of proposed method. The searching system showed the precision of about 85% maximally for the highly matched 10 results and was capable of reliably retrieving compositionally similar to given query even if some objects were included in photos.

  • With the popularity of digital audio contents, querying and retrieving audio contents efficiently from database has become essential. In this paper, we propose a new index scheme for retrieving audio contents efficiently using audio portions that have been queried frequently. This scheme is based on the observation that users have a tendency to memorize and query a small number of audio portions. Detecting and indexing such portions enables fast retrieval and shows better performance than sequential search-based audio retrieval. Moreover, this scheme is independent of underlying retrieval system, which means this scheme can work together with any other audio retrieval system. We have implemented a prototype system and showed its performance gain through experiments.

  • As the library retrieval system grows on the web rapidly through the rapid popularization of the internet, specially, it is almost impossible for children-only to retrieve on the web. So, there are some problems, such as, providing the retrieving results with no relation to children library. In this paper, we are supposed to design and implement library information retrieval system to provide better relevant library information for children using 3D environment. It consists of PHP, APACHE and MYSQL databases. At first, web page which gathers documents on the web implemented PHP using 3D. At last, APACHE server return retrieving results for user query using PHP.

  • According to the increase of audio and video data utilization, the presentation of multimedia data contents and the work of retrieving, storing and manipulating a multimedia data have been the focus of recent work. The display for multimedia data should retrieve and access the contents easily that users want to present. This study is about the design and implementation of a system to retrieve multimedia data based on the contents of documentation or the caption information of a multimedia data for retrieving documentation including multimedia data. It intends to develop an filtering step to retrieve all of keyword within the caption information of multimedia data and text of a documentation. Also, the system is designed to retrieve a large amount of data quickly using an inverted file structure available for B+ tree.

  • 현재의 영상 검색 시스템은 일반적으로 카테고리 검색 및 분류 검색으로 구성되어 있다. 일반적인 영상 데이터베이스 구축 및 현재의 검색 방법으로는 영상에 대한 재미요인을 분석하여 사용자에게 제공되지 않는다. 하지만 본 논문에서 제시하는 Q-방법론을 사용하여 영상을 분석하였다. Q-방법론에 의하여 분석된 영상은 영상 서버에 저장되며 영상 위치와 분석된 영상 디스크립션 및 재미요인은 데이터베이스에 구축하였다. 또한, 카테고리 검색 및 분류 검색에 대한 단점을 보강하기 위하여 키워드 검색시 색인 사전을 참조하여 온톨로지 검색에 대한 기능을 강화하였다.

  • Spatial relationships among objects are one of the important ingredients for expressing constraints of an image in image or multimedia retrieval systems. In this paper, we propose a unified image retrieval scheme using spatial relationships among objects and their features. The proposed scheme is especially effective in computing similarity between query image and images in the database. Also, objects and their spatial relationships are captured and annotated in XML. It could give better precision and flexibility in retrieving images from database. Finally, we have implemented a prototype system for retrieving images based on proposed technique and showed some of the experiment results.

Analysis on the Information Flows and Representations of User-OPACs Interfaces. (이용자-OPACs접속의 정보 흐름과 표현의 분석)

  • The main objective of this study is to analyse the information flows and representations which is shown at the displays of the user-OPACs interfaces in the 5 academic library automation systems. The findings made in the study are summarized as follows: 1) The interactive styles of that displays are based on the menu selection style. 2) The structures of information flow on that displays are the compound structure which is basically made of the network, the binary, and the pop-up structures. 3) The elements of the displays are consisted with the fields concerning the database name, the current working area, the indicator, the menu, the exit, the prompt and the system message. 4) The essential entries of the main menus are Book, Periodical. and Thesis. 5) The important languages of the command language styles are Search, Display, Print, Help, and End. 6) The elements of the display structures for the retrieval are the retrieving key, the Boolean operators, and the exit. 7) The major retrieving keys are Title, Author, Subject name, Call Number, and Publisher. 8) The marks of Boolean operators on the retrieval displays is different among the systems each other.
