  • This paper aims to investigate the adjustment effect of switching barriers on customer retention in mobile telecommunication services. The detailed factors regarding switching barriers are classified based on the related literatures. Furthermore, the hierarchical regression analysis is used to analyze the extent to which the factors affect customer retention. The main contribution of this paper is to focus on switching barriers and theirs relationships with customer retention rather than customer satisfaction on early studies. The results are as follows: First, among the factors of switching barriers, switching costs, such as continuity cost and contractual cost, interpersonal relationship, and attractiveness of alternatives are key factors in determining customer retention. Second, continuity cost and interpersonal relationship have an adjustment effect between customer satisfaction and customer retention. The findings can help the mobile operators establish a customer-oriented strategy by identifying a few key factors strengthening the linkage with customers.

  • The interrelation between retention factors of several L-amino acids and their physico-chemical and structural properties can be determined in chromatographic research. In this paper we describe a predictor for retention factors with various properties of the L-amino acids. Eighteen L-amino acids are included in this study, and retention factors are measured experimentally by RP-HPLC. Binding energy ($E_b$), hydrophobicity (log P), molecular refractivity (MR), polarizability (${\alpha}$), total energy ($E_t$), water solubility (log S), connectivity index (${\chi}$) of different orders and Wiener index (w) are theoretically calculated. Relationships between these properties and retention factors are established, and their predictive and interpretive ability are evaluated. The equation of the relationship between retention factors and various descriptors of L-amino acids is suggested as linear and multiple linear form, and the correlation coefficients estimated are relatively higher than 0.90.

Marketing strategy methods could be indicated to bear fruit in the food-industry based on this research. First, the properties of each factor related interpersonal relationship of foodservice industry, customer satisfaction and retention were obtained from previous studies. Second, interpersonal relationship was applied as an independent variable, retention between customers and the foodservice industry as a consequent variable and customer satisfaction as a parameters. The result reached through convergent validity came to satisfy all variables. Third, it was strongly maintained that the higher interpersonal relationship was, the more satisfied customers were and that the more satisfied customers were, the stronger retention was. It was shown that customers would repurchase and had strong loyalty to a certain enterprise if its services satisfied them and met their expectations.

  • Objectives : Many women associate one or more of their pregnancies with the development of adult obesity. This study was designed to determine influencing factors on postpartum weight retention and whether the breast-feeding was available to weight loss in puerperium. Methods : Articles from the literature on 'postpartum weight retention' were examined. Results : These articles show that different factors were related with postpartum weight retention. This study suggests that moderate weight gain during pregnancy is important to prevent postpartum maternal obesity. Especially weight gain from 20 weeks to 36 weeks of pregnancy is important. Falling in depression and anxiety during postpartum period should be avoided and social support is also needed. Delivery at the financially secure status is also recommended. Sufficient physical activity and exercise are needed to prevent from postpartum weight retention. Weight loss with dieting and exercise during lactation don't have a bad influence on the growth of infants.

  • In an effort to develop control strategies for the wet-end of paper machines, dynamic models for retention and formation processes have been developed. The retention process, including headbox total and filler consistencies, white water total and filler consistencies, the basis weight and the ash content of paper, can be modeled from first-principles (mass balances). To include the effect of wet-end chemistry variables, first-pass retention was included as a parameter dependent on operating conditions. In addition, dynamics of formation was simulated by developing an empirical model of formation and coupling with the dynamic models for the retention process. A series of experiments were performed using a pilot paper machine. The experimental results and the model predictions showed relatively good agreement.

  • This study was performed to characterize inverse emulsion type cationic polyacrylamide (PAM) and to compare with powder and salt dispersion type PAMs as a retention and drainage aid. Salt dispersion type PAM has defects of high amount of salt which increases conductivity of white water, low active polymer contents and relatively worse retention and drainage properties than others because of its low molecular weight. Powder type PAM has benefit of high active polymer contents and good retention and drainage properties, but defects of low dissolution speed and insoluble particle generation were observed. However, inverse emulsion type showed the best retention and drainage aids among them by controlling molecular weight and morphology easily and it had relatively higher active polymer contents and better solubility.

  • The relationship between the solute retention and physical parameters describing the interaction between the solute and mobile phase was investigated to predict the solute retention easily in RPLC. The retention data of monosubstituted benzenes were measured on the $\mu$-Bondapak C18 and phenyl columns with methanol-water systems. The linear relationship between dielectric increment($\epdilon'$) and retention data was observed. When the solute form hydrogen bonding with solvent molecules, the slope of the ln k' vs. $\epdilon'$ plot is changed as the compositions is varied. The quadric relationship between mixed solvent solubility parameter ($\delta$M) and retention data was observed.

  • Maxillary sinus retention cysts are probably common findings on PNS series. Many patients remain asymptomatic in the presence of these lesions, but a variety of local and systemic symptoms have been associated with them. A patient presented with symptoms of chronic rhinosinusitis had a finding of both maxillary sinus retention cysts on PNS series. He has taken the Gal-gen-tang and treated by acupunture & infra-red. After about 4 months' treatment, his symptoms resolved and PNS series were normal. In conclusion, Maxillary sinus retention cysts may become clinically important when they occur in the setting of symptoms compatible with chronic rhinosinusitis, or when the diagnosis is in doubt.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the wire retention on newsprint process mainly composed of Groundwood Pulp(GP) and Deinked Pulp(DIP) with change of stock mixture ratio according to variation of stock temperature, stock pH, rosin and alum amount. The obtained results were summarized as follows 1. The wire retention was decreased continuously with increasing of stock temperature regardless of stock type. The retention of DIP stock was more rapidly decreased than GP stock. 2. Maximum retention was obtained at pH 5. The retention of GP stock was more rapidly decreased below or over pH 5 in comparison with DIP. 3. Maximum retention was obtained at 2% alum level on GP and GP/DIP=50/50, but 3% alum level in case of DIP. 4. Higher retention efficiency was obtained in case of adding alum after using 1% rosin in comparison with alum only. 5. The retention was mainly affected by fiber flocculation.

  • Three crossbred gilts weighing $61{\pm}2kg$ ($mean{\pm}SD$) and three gilts weighing $52{\pm}3kg $ on the day before the first treatment began (d -1) were used for each of two experiments (Exp. 1 and Exp. 2), respectively. In Exp. 1, all pigs were fed the experimental diet (CP 19%) from d -7 to the end of study (d 21) to verify that nitrogen retention is constant during the 21 -d period. In Exp. 2, pigs were fed the control diet (CP 15.5 %) from d -7 to d 8 and then the low-lysine diet from d 9 to d 16 in order to determine how rapidly dietary changes in amino acid composition results in a new equilibrium for nitrogen metabolism. The amount of urine nitrogen loss was not different over 21 days (p > 0.10). Rates of nitrogen retention were not different among pigs (p > 0.10) nor over time (p > 0.10). Average nitrogen retention during the period was 1.00 g/kg $BW^{0.75}$ per day. The apparent biological value was 41%, which did not change over the 3-week period (p > 0.10). The overall efficiency of nitrogen use for nitrogen retention was 35% (Exp. 1). The amount of nitrogen loss in urine and the efficiency of nitrogen utilization for nitrogen gain reached a new equilibrium within 2 to 3 d after the diet was changed. The low-lysine diet resulted in a 20% increase of nitrogen loss in urine (p < 0.001) and a 9% decline in efficiency of nitrogen use for nitrogen retention (p < 0.001). Nitrogen retention while the pigs were fed the control diet was also higher than the retention when pigs were fed the low lysine diet (p < 0.001). The efficiency of nitrogen use for nitrogen retention in pigs fed the control diet was 57% (Exp. 2), which was higher (p < 0.001) than that from pigs fed the low-lysine diets (52%).
