A new multi-step voltage source inverter is proposed in this paper. The proposed scheme is composed of the double-connected 12-step inverter with an auxiliary circuit. The auxiliary circuit includes two voltage dividing capacitors, two switching devices and a low KVA autotransformer. The resultant system is shown to be a 24-step inverter suitable for large scale SVC applications in which the PWM method can not be employed. The design parameters are derived from the analysis of voltages and currents by means of switching functions. The simulation results verify the proposed concept.

We used three types of reactive diluents with different chemical structures, N-vinyl-pyrrollidone(NVP), ethyl hexyl acrylate(EHA) and hydroxyehtyl methacrylate(HEMA). It was founded that N-vinylpyrrollidone(NVP) and ethyl hexyl acrylate(EHA) based PUA with low molecular weight polypropylene glycol(PPG) at low oligomer content give high diffraction efficiency. The morphology of the resultant gratings was analyzed by using scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and Tg of the polymer matrix by dynamic mechanical thermal analysis(DMTA).

This paper presents a synthesis procedure of multi-channel active filters, which realizes an arbitrary N*N matrix of real rational functions in the complex variable s as a voltage transfer matrix. The resultant network reveals a transformerless grounded active RC(2N+1)-terminal network. The active network is consisted of six 2N-port RC networks with 2N single-ended operational amplifiers.

This article describes a novel model-based compensating neural network (NN) model developed to be used in our active binocular head controller, which addresses both the kinematics and dynamics aspects in trying to precisely track a moving object of interest to keep it in view. The compensating NN model is constructed using two classes of self-tuning neural models: namely Neural Gas (NG) algorithm and SoftMax function networks. The resultant servo controller is shown to be able to handle the tracking problem with a minimum knowledge of the dynamic aspects of the system.

On-Line optimization of process units has heretofore been restricted to the individual equipment level using linear approximate models. The advent of the low cost, high speed micro-computer coupled with the speed and robustness of an equation based exact simulator is making real-time optimization of entire process units a reality. The resultant implications for a decision system applied to day-to-day operations, point to a significant change in the way process plants will be managed in the future.

In this paper a new approach of digitalized ‘Takbon’ is introduced. By image signal processing, the letters which were written on stones can be deciphered. Epigraphic letter is detected by digital image device, digital camera. The two dimensional digital image is preprocessed because of sensor noise and detective turbulence. Color image is transformed into grey level. The letter image is analyzed in time/frequency domain. By the resultant analysis data decisive functions are calculated. Signal Processing techniques, such as scaling, clipping, digital negative, high/low filter, morphology and so on, provide algorithms that can extract letter from stones.

Spectroscopic data between 7 and 15 microns obtained in 1979 by Voyager 1 and 2 Infrared Interferometer Spectrometer (IRIS) have been revisited. Using the spectral data, Jupit.er images have been constructed at the emission bands of hydrocarbons, such as methane, ethane, and acetylene. The resultant. images show differences in emission intensities in the polar regions, suggesting inhomogeneous distributions of the hydrocarbons over the auroral regions of Jupiter.

Fault tolerant control algorithm fer heteropolar magnetic bearings are presented. This fault tolerant control utilizes grouping of currents as C-cores in order to isolate magnetic fluxes. Hardware requirements to maintain fault tolerant control are reduced since decoupling chokes are not required in this control scheme. The currents supplied to each pole are redistributed, if some coils (ail suddenly, such that the resultant magnetic forces should remain invariant through coil failure events. (omitted)

In the process control applications of self tuning control, a major concern of the control problem is to handle an offset caused by load disturbances and random steps occuring at random instance of time. Conventionally an integrator is incorperated in the forward path of the controller to eliminate such an offset. But this approach causes a difficulty if the adaptive part of the resultant controller is to be evaluated. In this paper a method of analyzing the adaptive system and improving the offset effect is suggested for a class of referance model method in the self tuning adaptive control system.
