The Influence of Teachers' Vocational Aptitude and Sense of Responsibility on Their Teaching Efficacy in Early Childhood Education and Care (보육교사의 직업적성 및 책임감이 교사효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of teachers' vocational aptitude and sense of responsibility on their teaching efficacy in early childhood education and care. 259 teachers in ECEC were recruited from 19 daycare centers and the data were analyzed through frequency, percentage, Pearson's correlations, and stepwise regression using SPSS 18.0. The findings are as follows. First, teachers' teaching efficacy was significantly different according to their age, the number of years of teaching experiences, and education levels. Second, all degrees of teachers' vocational aptitude, sense of responsibility, and their teaching efficacy were higher than the median points. Second, teachers' efficacy relating with running class was affected most by the ability of safe management in vocational aptitude, and teaching methods in sense of responsibility. For teachers' efficacy relating to teaching, acceptability/sensitivity in vocational aptitude and motivation had the most impact. The implication was discussed in order to figure out the ways to increase teachers' efficacy.

The Effects of Self-leadership and Nursing Professionalism on Social Responsibility in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 셀프리더십과 간호전문직관이 사회적 책임에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of self-leadership and nursing professionalism on social responsibility in nursing students and verify the mediating effects of nursing professionalism on the relationships between self-leadership and social responsibility. The subjects of this study consisted of 250 nursing students. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires. The results were as follows: Self-leadership and nursing professionalism had a positive effect on social responsibility. Nursing professionalism had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between self-leadership and social responsibility. Conclusively, this results of study is meaningful to provide evidence to improve the self-leadership and maximize nursing professionalism to increase social responsibility in nursing students.

Study on Paternal Involvement in Responsibility of Child Rearing (책임성을 중심으로 본 남성들의 자녀양육 참여)

  • It is commonly accepted that fathers involve more in child rearing than ever given that dual earner families are increased in South Korea. Present study aims to emphasizes the significance of responsibility and examines the participation in childcare responsibility of fathers by performing survey. Responsibility is illustrated as paternal taking ultimate responsibility for child's welfare and care such as monitoring, planning, concerning, organizing, arranging and doing for childcare. Regarding the concept of responsibility, both twenty questions asking reasonability and twenty questions asking non-responsibility are included in the questionnaire. As a result of statistical analyses, present study shows that fathers are less likely to participate in those twenty items of childcare responsibility, compared to twenty items of childcare non-responsibility. Implications are also provided. Responsibility of paternal involvement particularly needs to be addressed in the sense that childcare has contributed to pertaining inequality for women in both the workplace and domestic life.

A Study on the Effect of Expansion of Responsibilities and Obligations for Construction Accidents on Improvement of Safety Management System (건설재해 책임 및 의무 확대가 안전관리시스템 개선에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: To study the effect of the amended Occupational Safety and Health Act on the expansion of the employer's responsibility and obligations and the evaluation of the employer on the improvement of the safety management system. Method: An academic discussion was conducted by comparing the contents of previous studies with the analysis results. A questionnaire was prepared using the measurement tools collected from previous studies, and statistical multiple regression analysis was performed with the collected data. Result: Research hypothesis It was found that the expansion of responsibility and obligations of the business owner and the reinforcement of the employer's evaluation of the ordering party had a positive (+) effect on the improvement of the safety management system. Conclusion: The expansion of the responsibility and obligations of the employer and the strengthening of the evaluation of the owner of the orderer are having a positive effect on the improvement of the construction safety management system for the prevention of construction accidents.

A Case Study on Hospital Unit Management System (책임경영제 운영사례)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze a case of unit management system introduced and operated in a university hospital. The system was designed and applied to six clinical departments and centers to help to achieve the medical revenue and profit targets. The case hospital is now in the second year of the system operation. Major findings of the study are as follows; Firstly, the leadership style of the unit manager is the most important factor in management of the unit. The transformational leadership style was more effective than the transactional one. Secondly, unit manager's managerial ability is another key factor to the success or failure in achieving the responsibility targets. Thirdly, the degree of divisionalization and responsibility should be strengthened to activate both unit managers and medical specialists.

  • This paper presents the safety management model, which is appropriate for small-to-medium enterprises that rank the highest disaster rate. It is required for these companies to modify and improve the safety-related articles and it is peformed to compare and analyze the industrial disasters and safety management systems between large enterprises and small-to-medium enterprises. The basic direction of change of industrial safety healthy system must be classified to the dual direction. For large enterprises, it is focused on not pre-regulations but post-regulations based on the self-control safety management system. But for small-to-medium enterprises, it is required to intensify the safety management system and the safety responsibility for owners or administrators. Specially, the responsibility for disaster must be more strengthened by the penalty and the insurance method, and then it must be performed not only the financial support of government but also middle and long-term technical support by private safety organizations.

Analysis on Consciousness of Shifting Responsibility triggering Safety accidents at Construction Sites (건설현장 안전사고를 유발하는 책임전가의식 분석)

  • In spite of many previous studies conducted to prevent safety accidents at construction sites, the frequency of safety accidents has not decreased. And recently, a lot of research has been done to analyze the causes of the accidents resulting from the personal characteristics and behaviors of managers or workers, and eliminate them. However, despite these efforts, safety accidents occur consistently as managers and workers shift their responsibilities for the safety accidents onto someone other than themselves. Therefore, in order to prevent safety accidents, this study investigated the consciousness of shifting responsibility among managers and workers and analyzed the correlation between factors influencing the consciousness of shifting responsibility. In addition, it proposed the quantitative levels of the consciousness of shifting responsibility based on the survey of managers and workers. The results of this study demonstrated that managers tend to the shift responsibility onto workers, whereas workers the shift responsibility onto managers. It was additionally demonstrated that there is a correlation between the consciousness of shifting responsibility and the factors influencing it. The findings of this study are expected to improve the safety awareness among managers and workers and make contributions in the theoretical and practical aspects of construction safety management.

The Effect of Corporate Social Responsibility on Organizational Trust, Job Satisfaction and Turnover Intention (건설기업의 사회적 책임 활동이 조직신뢰, 직무만족과 이직의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently, the proportion of overseas orders of domestic construction companies is increasing, and the global market demands management transparency on corporate social responsibility activities. Therefore, domestic companies are faced with the need to systematically prepare for social responsibility activities. The purpose of this study was to examine whether CSR activities have a moderating effect on the relationship between organizational trust, job satisfaction, turnover intention and contract type. This study analyzed the effect of CSR activities on organizational trust, job satisfaction and turnover intention. The study targets regular and irregular workers in construction companies who promote CSR activities through the homepage, public service ad, and media. The questionnaire distributed 300 copies online. The final valid sample is 255 (145 Regular and 110 Irregular). Empirical analysis used a structural equation model. The results of the study are as follows. First, in CSR activities, economic responsibility, philanthropic responsibility and ethical responsibility had a positive (+) effect on organizational trust. Second, organizational trust had a positive (+) effect on job satisfaction in CSR activities. Finally, the magnitude of the Moderate effect of the type of labor contract according to the group classification showed that the CSR activity on organizational trust had many regular employees with economic responsibility. Also, organizational trust in job satisfaction was found to be large in regular employees. The results of this study can be a guide to CSR activities of construction companies in terms of organizational effectiveness.

Factors Associated with Middle Managers' Work Motivation: Evidence from SMEs in Vietnam

  • This study presents an exploratory investigation of SMEs in Vietnam to understand the impact of personal-level factors on middle managers' work motivation and the moderating role of work environment. A survey of 450 middle managers (MMs) in 150 Hanoi's SMEs was conducted. The findings of this research showed a significant positive impact of Achievement (ACHV), Recognition (RECOG), and Responsibility (RESP) on work motivation of MMs under the investigation. Furthermore, the result indicated that the work environment affects the relationship between personal-level factors and work motivation of participants. Consequently, both work environment improvement and strategies related to personal-level factors need to be taken into consideration. Especially, Recognition and transparency in Responsibility are appreciated in organizations with a low level of work environment satisfaction. However, there were no indications that Participation (PAR) and Communication (CMM) have a considerable impact on work motivation of respondents, being neither low level nor high level of work environment satisfaction. Based on the findings, recommendations are suggested for Vietnam's SMEs to improve work motivation of MMs, by (i) developing standards with emphasis on their achievement, (ii) paying attention to organizational culture focusing on the responsibility of this managerial level, and (iii) building an adequate incentive system, especially non-financial incentives.
