  • This study is to compare the descriptive cataloging rules between AACR2 and RDA, and then to find a direction of future cataloging and KCR 4. RDA is new cataloging rules that embody the International Cataloging Principles(2009), FRBR and FRAD. It is a structure of bibliographic control of all kinds of resources, and the rules can be flexibly applicable in the international cataloging community. It is critical to embody RDA in KCR 4 because RDA is likely to affect the future cataloging through its collocation function and relation function to construct semantic web of OPAC. This study analyzed the descriptive rules of work, expression, and manifestation based on RDA draft(2008) of JSC for Development of RDA. It analyzed the changes in the cataloging rules from AACR2 to RDA in such descriptive areas as title, type of resources, statement of responsibility, edition, publication, physical description and series in the manifestation level, and the preferred access points in both expression and work levels. The findings of this study will provide implications in revising KCR4.

  • The method of moments, a Lagrangian scheme, considers the zeroth, first, and second moments of the grid cell spatial distributions of the concentration and then advects the concentration by maintaining conservation of the moments. The reasonable inital description of the first and second moments as well as the mean concentration, the zeroth moments, in grid element is important in the method of moments. In this study, the description methods of each initial moment are reviewed, and the method of moments is extended to overcome the restrictions of Courant number. Its performance is compared with those of available Eulerian and Lagrangian schemes. As the results, the method is successfully extended to overcome the stability restriction and is an accurate scheme for the advection simulation of concentration distribution, especially of which the gradient is steep. In addition, the method is very promising scheme in terms of computational efficiency when the mixing is confined in a relatively small region to the entire domain in two-dimensional problem.

  • Based on a single juvenile specimen (20.7 mm SL) collected from Jeju Island, Apogon semiornatus was described as a new Korean record. The species is characterized by having VI-I, 9 dorsal fin rays, 12 pectoral fin rays; II, 8 anal fin rays and two blackish oblique bands on yellowish red body. A new Korean name, "Geom-eun-du-jul-bulg-eun-dong-gal-dom", is proposed.

  • A new species of Neosartorya was recovered during investigation of the fungal community in soil samples collected from different locations in Korea; Neosartorya aureola KNU14-7 was isolated for the first time from field soil in Korea and identified based on the internal transcribed spacer region of rDNA and morphological characteristics. The species has not been officially reported from Korea and we report it here with description and figures.

  • Extensive sets of data on the mechanical properties of more than 1000 granite specimens were analyzed to derive the relationships of the various properties: those are, (1) density, (2) porosity, (3) absorption ratio, (4) sonic wave velocity, (5) uniaxial compressive strength, (6) tensile strength, and (7) dynamic & static Young's moduli. The results will be of use to understand the mechanical characteristics of granites and some unknown properties can be estimated from the others. The various equations derived from the least square regression analysis and a brief description of the correlations are presented in this paper.

  • It is well known that small amplitude wave theory, a first approximation to the complete theoretical description of wave behavior, yields a maximum investment in mathematical endeavor. But, if the wave amplitude is large, the small amplitude considerations are not valid, and finite amplitude wave theory which retains higher-order terms to obtain an accurate representation of the wave motion is numercal theory. The Stream function wave theory, one of the numerical methods, was developed by Dean for use with asymmetric measured wave profiles and with symmetric theoretical wave profiles. Dalrymple later improved the comjputational procedure by adding two Lagrangian constraints so that more efficient convergence of the iterative numerical method to a specified wave heigh and to a zero mean free surface displacement resulted. This paper introduces in details the Dean and Darlymple Stream Function Method in case of the symmetric theoretical wave, because in design purposes, wave height and wave period are given.

  • The field-cricket $Turanogryllus$ $eous$ Bey-Bienko, 1956 and its genus $Turanogryllus$ Tarbinsky, 1940 were recorded for the first time from Chungcheongbuk-do province in Korea to carry out the project 'The sound guides to Korean animals.' Depending on the discovery of the cricket, its distributional ranges are more widened towards East Asia to the Korean peninsula from China mainland, the $Turanogryllus$ was 10th to known Gryllinae genera in Korea. Description, photos of habitus, figure of male genitalia, oscillogram and spectrogram for the calling sound are provided for aid identification. Voucher specimens are deposited in the collection of National Institute of Biological Resources, Incheon, Korea.

  • A single juvenile specimen of $Thunnus$ $alalunga$ (8.4 mm in standard length) of the Scombridae was collected from the southeast sea of Jeju Island ($127.7^{\circ}E$, $33.0^{\circ}N$) on August 18, 2011. It was identified as $T.$ $alalunga$ based on the following combination of morphological characters: snout elongated; melanophores focused on the dorsal spiny region, but no melanophores on the dorsal soft fin base, anal fin base or caudal region.

  • We performed taxonomic reviews and habitat circumstances survey for 41 un-introduced environmentally harmful plants (as designated by the Ministry of Environment, Korea in 2016). For this purpose, we investigated plant specimens from several herbaria and performed a field survey in the southeastern region of the United States. Base on the result, we presented the most comprehensive results of weed risk evaluation and taxonomic description up to now as well as classification keys for 11 species to apply the regulation management of putative invasive alien species - Centaurea maculosa Lam., Centaurea diffusa Lam., Mikania micrantha Kunth. (Asteraceae), Cenchrus echinatus L., Neyraudia reynaudiana (Kunth) Keng ex Hitchcock, Brachiaria mutica (Forsskål) Stapf, Vulpia bromoides (L.) Gray, Lolium persicum Boissier & Hohennacker, Setaria palmifolia (J. Konig) Stapf (Poaceae), Prosopis glandulosa Torr. (Fabaceae), Fallopia baldschuanica (Regel) Hobub. (Polygonaceae).

  • Bowlesia incana Ruiz & Pav., a new invasive alien plant in Korea, was found in Ulju-gun, Ulsan Metropolitan City. This species is characterized as being similar to the genera Hydrocotyle Tourn. ex L. and Centella L. However, it differs morphologically from these two genera in leaves, flowers, and fruits, as well as stellate pubescence growing on the whole plant. In Korea, Bowlesia incana Ruiz & Pav. is recorded for the first time in this study. A morphological description, distribution map, and illustrations based on the Korean materials collected are presented.
