파도를 이용한 2자유도 파력진동발전시스템에 대한 연구 (The Research of Vibration Power Generation with Two Degree of Freedom Using Ocean Wave)

  • 본 논문에서는 파도의 상하운동에너지의 이용효율을 높이기 위해서 부양체와 2 D.O.F.(자유도) 진동발전시스템을 일체로 구성한 파력진동발전시스템을 제안한다. 파도가 갖는 상하운동 주파수 중 속도 에너지가 큰 주요 주파수 ${\omega}_1$, ${\omega}_2$을 선정하고, 2 D.O.F. 파력진동발전시스템의 고유진동수와 선정된 주파수들을 일치시킨다. 그러면 공진효과에 의해 각각의 질량과 권선사이의 상대속도가 파도의 상하운동속도보다 커진다. 또한 2 D.O.F. 진동시스템의 연성효과로 인한 1 D.O.F. 파력진동발전시스템보다 더 많은 전기에너지를 얻을 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서 제안한 2 D.O.F. 파력 발전시스템은 파도가 갖는 에너지를 더 많이 이용할 뿐만 아니라 더 많은 전기에너지를 얻을 수 있는 장점을 가짐을 알 수 있었다.

DNA Mediated Energy Transfer from 4',6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole to Ru(II)[(1,10-phenanthroline)2L]2+ : Effect of Ligand Structure

  • It was proposed that Ru(II)[(1,10-phenanthroline)$_2$dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine ([Ru(phen)$_2$DPPZ]$^{2+}$)complexes and 4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) simultaneously bind to poly[d(A-T)$_2$] (Biophysics. J. 2003, 85, 3865). Förster type resonance energy transfer from excited DAPI to [Ru(phen)2DPPZ]$^{2+}$ complexes was observed. In this study, we synthesized $\Delta$- and $\wedge$-[Ru(phenanthroline)$_2$dipyrido[3,2-a:2’3’c]6-azaphenazine] ([Ru(phen)$_2$DPAPZ]$^{2+}$) at which the DNA intercalating ligand DPPZ was replaced and we studied its binding properties to poly[d(A-T)$_2$] in the presence and absence of DAPI using polarized spectroscopy and fluorescence techniques. All the spectroscopic properties of the [Ru(phen)$_2$DPAPZ]$^{2+}$-poly[d(A-T)$_2$] complex were the same in the presence and absence of DAPI that blocks the minor groove of polynucleotide, suggesting both $\Delta$- and $\wedge$-[Ru(phen)$_2$DPAPZ]$^{2+}$ complexes are located at the major groove of poly[d(A-T)2]. On the other hand, in contrast with [Ru(phen)$_2$DPPZ]$^{2+}$, both $\Delta$- and $\wedge$-[Ru(phen)$_2$DPAPZ]$^{2+}$ exhibited almost twice the efficiency in the fluorescence quenching of DAPI that binds at the minor groove of poly[d(A-T)$_2$]. This observation indicates that the efficiency of the Förster type resonance energy transfer can be controlled by a small change in the chemical structure of the intercalated ligand.

근사기법을 활용한 공진형 파력발전 부이의 발전량 추정 및 최적설계 (Power Estimation and Optimum Design of a Buoy for the Resonant Type Wave Energy Converter Using Approximation Scheme)

  • This paper deals with the resonant type of a WEC (wave energy converter) and the determination method of its geometric parameters which were obtained to construct the robust and optimal structure, respectively. In detail, the optimization problem is formulated with the constraints composed of the response surfaces which stand for the resonance period(heave, pitch) and the meta center height of the buoy. Use of a signal-to-noise ratio calculated from normalized multi-objective results with the weight factor can help to select the robust design level. In order to get the sample data set, the motion responses of the power buoy were analyzed using the BEM (boundary element method)-based commercial code. Also, the optimization result is compared with a robust design for a feasibility study. Finally, the power efficiency of the WEC with the optimum design variables is estimated as the captured wave ratio resulting from absorbed power which mainly related to PTO (power take off) damping. It could be said that the resultant of the WEC design is the economical optimal design which satisfy the given constraints.

Design of Novel Hemoglobins

  • It has been demonstrated that mutant Hemoglobins (Hb) which have an altered ${\alpha}$1${\beta}$2 subunit interface can be designed. A compensatory mutation for a naturally occurring abnormal human Hb, Hb Kempsey (${\beta}$99Asp\longrightarrowAsn), has been designed, and this mutation allowed the molecule to regain its allosteric response. The calculated values for the difference in the free energy of cooperativity show excellent agreement with experimentally determined thermodynamic values, suggesting that the molecular dynamics simulation results can be used to obtain information about the specific interactions which contribute to the total free energy of cooperativity. These results provide encouragement to begin a systematic investigation of the molecular basis of the subunit interactions between the ${\alpha}$1 and ${\beta}$2 chains of Hb A by designing appropriate r Hbs. These studies could lead to the design of Hbs with desired cooperativity in the oxygenation process and to the restoration of functional properties of abnormal hemoglobins associated with hemoglobinopathies. Thus, the present results also have the implications in using gene therapy to treat patients with hemoglobinpathies.

원기둥과 선형발전기의 연성 수직운동을 이용한 파 에너지 추출 (Extraction of Wave Energy Using the Coupled Heaving Motion of a Circular Cylinder and Linear Electric Generator)

  • The feasibility of wave energy extraction from a heaving truncated cylinder and the corresponding response of the linear electric generator (LEG) composed of spring, magnet, and coil has been investigated in the frame of three-dimensional linear potential theory. The heaving motion of a circular cylinder is calculated by means of the matched eigenfunction expansion method. Further, the analytical results are validated by numerical results using the ANSYS AQWA commercial code. By the action of a heaving circular cylinder, the magnet suspended by a spring can slide vertically inside the heaving cylinder. The mechanical power is extracted from the magnet motion relative to the coil/stator which is attached to the cylinder. The coupled ODE of a heaving cylinder and LEG system in waves is derived to obtain the magnet motion relative to a cylinder. To maximize the relative motion of the magnet, both the buoy draft and the LEG system parameters (spring stiffness, damping) should be selected properly for generating the double resonance considering the peak frequency of the target spectrum.

A FRET Assay for Celiac Disease

  • To provide a basis for a homogeneous fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) immunoassay for celiac disease, we carried out a FRET experiment using guinea pig tissue transglutaminase (tTG) and antibodies to tTG (anti-tTG) purified from rat serum. Fluorescein was utilized as the probe, and a nonfluorescent dye, QSY 7 served as the quencher. We labeled anti-tTG and tTG with fluorescein isothiocyanate and QSY 7 succinimidyl ester, respectively. Fluorescein-labeled anti-tTG was the donor, and QSY 7-labeled tTG was the acceptor of the FRET experiment. When we titrated fluorescein-labeled anti-tTG with QSY 7-labeled tTG, we observed a large decrease in the steady-state fluorescence intensity, which was due to strong FRET from fluorescein-labeled anti-tTG to QSY 7-labeled tTG. Using time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, we could also observe a decrease in the fluorescence lifetime, which confirms the steady-state data. We expect that these results might be useful in the development of a novel fluorescence immunoassay for an easy screening and follow-up of celiac patients.

고효율 마이크로파 무선 전력 수신 집적회로 설계 및 구현 (A Design of High Efficiency Microwave Wireless Power Acceptor IC)

  • Wireless power transmission technology has been studied variety. Recently, wireless power transmission technology used by resonance and magnetic induction field is applied to various fields. However, magnetic resonance and inductive coupling are have drawbacks - power transmission distance is short. Microwave transmission and accept techniques have been developed to overcome short distance. However, improvement in efficiency is required. This paper, propose a high-efficiency microwave energy acceptor IC(EAIC). Suggested EAIC is consists of RF-DC converter and DC-DC converter. Wide Input power range is -15 dBm ~ 20 dBm. And output voltage is boosted up to 5.5 V by voltage boost-up circuit. EAIC can keep the output voltage constant. Available efficiency of RF-DC converter is 95.5 % at 4 dBm input. And DC-DC efficiency is 94.79 % at 1.1 mA load current. Fully EAIC efficiency is 90.5 %.

Power Current Control of a Resonant Vibratory Conveyor Having Electromagnetic Drive

  • The vibratory conveyors with electromagnetic drive are used for performing gravimetric flow of granular materials in processing industry. By realizing free vibrations of variable intensity and frequency over a wide range through application of the electromagnetic actuator, suitable power converter, and the corresponding controller, continuous conveyance of granular materials have been provided for various operating conditions. Standard power output stages intended for control of vibratory conveyance using thyristors and triacs. Phase angle control can only accomplish tuning of amplitude oscillations, but oscillation frequency cannot be adjusted by these converters. Application of current controlled transistor converters enables accomplishing the amplitude and/or frequency control. Their use implies the excitation of a vibratory conveyor independent of the supply network frequency. In addition, the frequency control ensures operation in the region of mechanical resonance. Operation in this region is favourable from the energy point of view, since it requires minimal energy consumption. The paper presents a possible solution and advantages of the amplitude-frequency control of vibratory conveyors by means of a current controlled power converter.

직관적 체험내용으로 비추어 본 생활공간의 역동성 (Dynamism of Lived Space in the Light of Intuitive Experiential Contents)

  • The purpose of this study is to shed light on the field dynamics of 'lived space' in the light of our intuitive experiential contents by way of investigating three properties of space. While finding inspirations in the field theory of modern physics, investigation of our intuitive responses to the physical and spatial environment leads us to a coherent view of matter and space. We find then that our lived world is more than a system of inert matter; it is a dynamic environment of life in which feeling and mood, spiritual meaning and value, are perpetually infused with matter. Any concept of space, if it is to be meaningful to lift has to somehow acknowledge this fact. Empty space and matter cannot be conceived as mutually exclusive and independent as in classical physics. Rather they should be seen as two different manifestations of an underlying dynamism which permeates the world. The 'properties' of space can only be understood in terms of the 'impact' of material presence. The object cannot be seen as an isolated entity, but the 'conditioning' of its surrounding space has to be understood as an integral part of its being. Lived space can thus be viewed as an emotionally charged field, or a field of emotional energy, whose properties may be described in terms of concentration, mobility and resonance.

다양한 MRI 시스템에서 사용가능한 의료용 리드선 (A New Medical Lead for Various MRI Systems)

  • Radio Frequency (RF) coils in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems interact with a patient's tissues, resulting in the absorption of RF energy by the tissues. The presence of an electrically conducting medical implant may concentrate the RF energy and causes tissue heating near the implant devices. Here we present a novel design for a medical lead to reduce this undesired heating. Specific Absorption Rate (SAR), an indicator of heating, was calculated. Remcom XFdtd software was used to calculate the peak SAR distribution (1g and 10 g) in a realistic model of the human body. The model contained a medical lead that was exposed to RF magnetic fields at 64 MHz (1.5 T MRI), 128 MHz (3 T MRI) and 300 MHz (7 T MRI) using a model of an MR birdcage body coil. Our results demonstrate that, our proposed design of adding nails to the medical lead can significantly reduce the SAR for different MRI systems.
