A Study on new Photoinitiator of Visible Light Dental Composite Resin (치과용 가시광선 중합형 복합수지의 새로운 광개시제에 관한 연구)

  • The photopolymerization efficiency and surface hardness of composite resin containing 1,2-phenylpropanedione (PD) and diacetyl (DA) as photoinitiators were studied by IR and Vickers hardness and the results were compared with that of camphorquinone (CQ). Relative photopolymerization efficiency of the photoinitiators increased in the order of DA < CQ < PD. Vickers hardness of composite resin containing the photoinitiators increased in the order of CQ < PD < DA. Thus, PD is a new visible light photoinitiator for dental composite resin with higher photopolymerization efficiency and surface hardness than that of CQ. Mechanical properties such as Vickers hardness, diametral tensile strength, and flexural strength of the experimental resin composite prepared by addition of the photosensitizer into a resin of bis-GMA improved with increasing the photosensitizer content and irradiation time. The resin composite of bis-GMA containing DA or PD shows better mechanical properties than that of CQ.

  • 본 논문에서는 epoxy bonding film의 phenoxy resin의 함량변화에 따른 특성 변화에 대하여 연구하였다. epoxy bonding film은 미세패턴 구현을 위해서 사용되는 기판재료로써 epoxy, hardener, silica, phenoxy resin 등이 첨가되어진다. phenoxy resin 함량을 변화를 주면서 tape casting 방법을 통해서 flim 형성을 한 후, 제작된 film의 phenoxy resin 함량변화에 따른 조도 특성의 연구를 위해서 sweller, desmear 공정을 후 RA(Roughness Average)를 측정하고, SEM으로 표면을 관찰하였다. 또한 제작된 bonding film을 가열 가압 후 구리 도금공정을 거쳐 peel strength를 측정하였다. phenoxy resin 함량이 증가 할수록 RA가 증가되어지는 것이 관찰되어졌고, 또 한 peel strength 증가하였다.

  • This research work explored physical and mechanical properties of impregnated sawdust boards from three softwood species (P, densifora, L. kaemferi, and P. koraiensis) with phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin by various vacuum treatment methods of combining pressure, vacuum, and ultrasonic waves. Simultaneous vacuum and ultrasonic wave treatments with no pressure resulted in the greatest increase in resin content, density, dimensional changes (thickness and length), bending strength, and hardness of impregnated board. This result seemed to be attributed to the ultrasonic wave treatment.

  • Carbon blocks were prepared by compression molding process using the mixture of isotropic cokes and binder pitches, which were reformed with different ${\beta}$-resin contents from pyrolysis fuel oil. Physical and chemical properties and also thermal behavior of binder pitches were investigated through elemental analysis, FT-IR and thermogravimetric analysis, respectively. The adhesion of binder pitches to isotropic coke particles was evaluated from SEM images of the fracture surface of carbon blocks. From these results, it is shown that the adhesion between the cokes and binder was enhanced by increasing the ${\beta}$-resin content of binder pitches. The density of the carbon block after carbonization also increased from 1.325 to $1.383g/cm^3$ by increasing the ${\beta}$-resin content of binder pitches from 1.4 to 20.1%.

SELF-ADHESION OF LOW-VISCOSITY COMPOSITES TO DENTIN SURFACE (상아질에 대한 저점도 복합레진의 자가접착에 관한 연구)

  • The objectiveness of this study was to evaluate whether low-viscosity composite can bond effectively to dentin surface without bonding resin. The low-viscosity composites being 50wt% filler content were made by the inclusion of bonding resin of two self-etching systems(Cleafil SE Bond, Unifil Bond) varied with contents as 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50wt%. Exposed dentin surfaces of extracted 3rd molars are used. Dentin bond strengths were measured. The tests were carried out with a micro-shear device placed testing machine at a CHS of 1mm/min after a low-viscosity composite was filled into an iris cut from micro tygon tubing with internal diameter approximately 0.8mm and height of 1.0mm. 1 Flexural strength and modulus was increased with the addition of bonding resin. 2. Micro-shear bond strength to dentin was improved according to content of bonding resin irrespective of applying or not bonding resin in bonding procedure, and that of Clearfil SE Bond groups was higher than Unifil Bond. 3. There were no significant difference whether use of each bonding resin in bonding procedure for S-40, S-50, U-50(p>0.05). 4. In SEM examination, resin was well infiltrated into dentin after primed with self-etching primer only for S-50 and U-50 in spite of the formation of thinner hybrid layer. Low viscosity composite including some functional monomer may be used as dentin bonding resin without an intermediary bonding agent. It makes a simplified bonding procedure and foresees the possibility of self-adhesive restorative material.

  • The results of an experimental study on the manufacture and the mechanical properties of steel fiber reinforced polyester resin composites utilizing industrial waste products(fly ash) are presented in this paper. The composites using steel fiber, fly ash, unsaturated polyester resin, styrene monomer, catalyst (cobalt octate) and accelerator(methyl ethyl ketone peroxide), fine and coarse aggreates were prepared using various mixing conditions. As the test results show. the mechanical and physical properties, such as the compressive, tensile and flexural strengths, and the setting shrinkage of fly ash$\cdot$polyester resin composites were improved considerably by increasing the fly ash-binder ratio. And the workability of steel fiber reinforced fly ash$\cdot$polyester resin composites was reduced with increasing the fly ash-binder ratio and steel fiber content. Also, the compressive, flexural strength and toughness of the composites were remarkably increased by increasing steel fiber content.

Effects of Hardener and Extender Contents on Curing Behavior of Urea-Melamine-Formaldehyde Resin

  • This study was conducted to discuss the effects of hardener and extender contents on peak temperature, reaction enthalpy (${\Delta}H$), gelation time, viscosity change, and pH value in three types of UMF (urea-melamine- formaldehyde) resin with the help of perpHecT LogR meter, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and advanced rheometric expansion system (ARES), The results indicated that the pH value of Control A steeply decreased to 5,2 in the early stage but relatively remained constant thereafter as in Synthesis 1 and Synthesis 2, The peak temperature and time decreased as well, whereas ${\Delta}H$ and viscosity increased with the increase of hardener content. On the other hand, ${\Delta}H$ was not changed up to the extender content of 5% and then decreased with its further addition, And the pH value and peak temperature showed no change with the increase of extender content at the hardener content of 5% in three types of UMF resin, The effect of hardener content in this experiment, however, appeared more conspicuous in Control A than in the other two types of Synthesis 1 and Synthesis 2, These results might be caused by higher molecular weight with longer chains of methylene ($-CH_2-$) and methylene ($-CH_2-O-CH_2-$) ether bridges or much more branched chains in Control A.

Effect of Zirconia Particle Addition on Curing Behavior of Phenolic Resins (Zirconia 입자의 첨가가 페놀 수지의 경화거동에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the effect of addition of zirconia(zirconium oxide) powder on the curing behavior of phenolic resins. The heating rate controlled curing and isothermal curing behaviors of the phenol resin according to the content of the zirconia powder were analyzed. The viscosity and thermal decomposition characteristics of the phenolic resin with the zirconia content were also examind. From the DSC analysis, the degree of cure and the rate of cure were obtained. Finally, the activation energy for the cure reaction were calculated from the DSC data of the zirconia added phenolic resin. As a found, the higher the zirconia content, the longer the curing was delayed and the greater the activation energy required for curing. Additionally, the TGA result that as the content of zirconia increased, less weight loss was observed. The surface tackiness of the Carbon/Phenol prepreg was partially changed according to the zirconia content, but had no significant effect.

Optimization of Fractionation Conditions for Natural Organic Matter in Water by DAX-8 Resin and its Application to Environmental Samples (DAX-8 레진의 수중 자연유기물의 분획조건 최적화 및 환경시료에의 적용)

  • Natural organic matter (NOM) is a heterogeneous mixture of organic matter with various polarities and molecular weights in an aquatic environment. This study investigated the effects of separation conditions (resin volume, organic matter, etc.) and the repeated use of the resin for the fractionation of organic components in the DAX resin fractionation method. The distribution characteristics of the organic components ((hydrophilic [Hi], hydrophobic acid [HoA], and hydrophobic neutral [HoN]) under the derived fractionation conditions were also analyzed. Constant fractionation results (i.e. HoA/Hi ratio) were obtained in the column capacity factor (i.e. the packed resin volume) in the range of 50 to 100. The resin-packed column maintained constant separation efficiency for up to two repeated uses. The above conditions were applied to wastewater and stream water samples (before and after rainfall). The results showed that the concentration of organic matter in the wastewater effluent was 2-15 times lower with an increased ratio of hydrophilicity to hydrophobicity (i.e. Ho/Hi) compared to the influent depending on the industrial wastewater classification. Particularly, HoN was found to have a high content distribution, 10.2-50.4% of the total dissolved organic matter (DOM), in the effluents. For the stream water, the content of Hi or HoN increased significantly after rainfall, suggesting a correlation with the distribution characteristics of pollutants from the stream watershed. The results provide useful data to enhance the reliability of the DAX resin fractionation and its application to environmental samples.

Study on a Change of Mechanical Property of denture Resin by Carbon Fiber Filler Content (탄소섬유 첨가에 따른 의치상 레진의 탄성력 관찰)

  • Purpose: This study is a mechanical strength supplementation of denture base resin Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is in general use for denture base resin of the partial and full denture, however, The polymerization process of PMMA is not stabilized. Because of compatibility problems, preceding studies were performed, which were enhancing mechanical strength(Camilo Machado 2007),(Ana M. 2008), addition filler to materials property(Ayse Mese, 2008), self curing method(Hiroshi Shimizu, 2008). Methods: The carbon fiber and polyacetal filler, reinforced the mechanical strength for improving the stability of denture base resin were supplemented to the self cured resin. The Modulus of elasticity and the restoring force were calculated by tensile test. Results: The strengths of the heat and self cured resin were respectively decreased and increased, when the filler was supplemented to the denture base resin and the modulus of elasticity of both heat and self cured resin were not increased, when the filler was supplemented to the denture base resin. Conclusion: The restoring forces of self cured resin containing 10% filler were increased, when the filler was supplemented to the denture base resin.
