  • Automatic obfuscation is known to be the most viable method for preventing reverse engineering intentional1y making code more difficult to understand for security purposes. In this paper, we study and implement an obfuscation method for protecting MS Visual C++ programs against attack on the intellectual property in software like reverse engineering attack. That is, the paper describes the implementation of a code obfuscator, a tool which converts a Visual C++ source program into an equivalent one that is much harder to understand. We have used ANTLR parser generator for handling Visual C++ sources, and implemented some obfuscating transformations such as 'Remove comments', 'Scramble identifiers', 'Split variables', 'Fold array', 'Insert class', 'Extend loop condition', 'Add redundant operands', and 'Insert dead code'. We have also evaluated the performance and effectiveness of the obfuscator in terms of potency, resilience, and cost. When the obfuscated source code has been compared with the original source code, it has enough effectiveness for software protection though it incurs some run-time overheads.

  • Demand for plastic gears are increasing in many industries due to their low production cost, light weight, applicability without lubricant, corrosion resistance and high resilience. Despite these benefits, utilizing plastic gears is limited due to their poor material properties. In this work, DLC coating was applied to improve the tribological properties of polyamide66 gear. 0 V, 40 V, and 70 V of negative bias voltages were selected as a deposition parameter in DC magnetron sputtering system. Pin-on-disk experiment was performed in order to investigate the wear characteristics of the gears. The results of the pin-on-disk experiment showed that DLC coated polyamide66 with 40 V of negative bias voltage had the lowest friction coefficient value (0.134) and DLC coated PA66 with 0 V of negative bias voltage showed the best wear resistance ($9.83{\times}10^{-10}mm^3/N{\cdot}mm$) among all the specimens. Based on these results, durability tests were conducted for DLC coated polyamide66 gears with 0 V of negative bias voltage. The tests showed that the temperature of the uncoated polyamide66 gear increased to about $37^{\circ}C$ while the DLC coated gear saturated at about $25^{\circ}C$. Also, the power transmission efficiency of the DLC coated gear increased by about 6% compared to those without coating. Weight loss of the polyamide66 gears were reduced by about 73%.

  • Molded pulp products has become more attractive than traditional materials such as expanded polystyrene foam (EPS) owing to low-priced recycled paper, environmental benefits such as biodegradability, and low production cost. In this study, various design factors regarding compression and cushioning characteristics of the molded pulp cushion with truncated pyramid-shaped structural units were analyzed using a test specimen with multiple structural units. The adopted structural factors were the geometric shape, wall thickness, and depth of the structural unit. The relative humidity was set at two levels. We derived the cushion curve model of the target molded pulp cushion using the stress-energy methodology. The coefficient of determination was approximately 0.8, which was lower than that for EPS (0.98). The cushioning performance of the molded pulp cushion was affected more by the structural factors of the structural unit than by the material characteristics. Repeated impacts, higher static stress, and drop height decreased the cushioning performance. Its compression behavior was investigated in four stages: elastic, first buckling, sub-buckling, and densification. It had greater rigidity during initial deformation stages; then, during plastic deformation, the rigidity was greatly reduced. The compression behavior was influenced by structural factors such as the geometric shape and depth of the structural unit and environmental conditions, rather than material properties. The biggest difference in the compression and cushioning characteristics of molded pulp cushion compared to EPS is that it is greatly affected by structural factors, and in addition, strength and resilience are expected to decrease due to humidity and repetitive loads, so future research is needed.

  • The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has permitted the use of Lime Kiln Dust (LKD) as a low-cost construction material in creating a workable platform for soil modification (not for soil stabilization) since the early 1990s on selected projects. However, the enhanced strength of soils with LKD has not been accounted for in the subgrade stability calculations in the design process. This study was initiated to evaluate how the lime kiln dust is a comparable material to hydrated lime. A series of laboratory tests were performed to assess the mechanical benefits of lime kiln dust in combination with various predominant fine grained soils encountered in the State of Indiana, such as A-4, A-6 and A-7-6. In the course of this study, several tests such as the Atterberg limits, standard Proctor, unconfined compression, CBR, volume stability, and resilient modulus were performed. As a result, mixtures of fine grained soils with 5% lime or 5% LKD substantially improve unconfined compressive strength up to 60% - 400%. CBR values for treated soils are in the range of 25 to 70 while those for untreated soils range from 3 to 18. In general, significant increase in resilient moduli of the soils treated with lime and LKD was observed. This indicates that lime kiln dust may be a viable, cost effective alternative to hydrated lime in enhancing the strength of fine grained soils.

  • Spatial sampling design plays an important role in GIS-based modeling studies because it increases modeling efficiency while reducing the cost of sampling. In the field of agricultural systems, research demand for high-resolution spatial databased modeling to predict and evaluate climate change impacts is growing rapidly. Accordingly, the need and importance of spatial sampling design are increasing. The purpose of this study was to design spatial sampling of paddy fields (11,386 grids with 1 km spatial resolution) in Korea for use in agricultural spatial modeling. A stratified random sampling design was developed and applied in 2030s, 2050s, and 2080s under two RCP scenarios of 4.5 and 8.5. Twenty-five weather and four soil characteristics were used as stratification variables. Stratification and sample allocation were optimized to ensure minimum sample size under given precision constraints for 16 target variables such as crop yield, greenhouse gas emission, and pest distribution. Precision and accuracy of the sampling were evaluated through sampling simulations based on coefficient of variation (CV) and relative bias, respectively. As a result, the paddy field could be optimized in the range of 5 to 21 strata and 46 to 69 samples. Evaluation results showed that target variables were within precision constraints (CV<0.05 except for crop yield) with low bias values (below 3%). These results can contribute to reducing sampling cost and computation time while having high predictive power. It is expected to be widely used as a representative sample grid in various agriculture spatial modeling studies.

  • This paper proposes an algorithm for the robust transmission of video in error Prone environment using multiple description codingby optimal split of DCT coefficients and rate-distortionoptimization framework. In MDC, a source signal is split Into several coded streams, which is called descriptions, and each description is transmitted to the decoder through different channel. Between descriptions, structured correlations are introduced at the encoder, and the decoder exploits this correlation to reconstruct the original signal even if some descriptions are missing. It has been shown that the MDC is more resilient than the singe description coding(SDC) against severe packet loss ratecondition. But the excessive redundancy in MDC, i.e., the correlation between the descriptions, degrades the RD performance under low PLR condition. To overcome this Problem of MDC, we propose a hybrid MDC method that controls the SDC/MDC switching according to channel condition. For example, the SDC is used for coding efficiency at low PLR condition and the MDC is used for the error resilience at high PLR condition. To control the SDC/MDC switching in the optimal way, RD optimization framework are used. Lagrange optimization technique minimizes the RD-based cost function, D+M, where R is the actually coded bit rate and D is the estimated distortion. The recursive optimal pet-pixel estimatetechnique is adopted to estimate accurate the decoder distortion. Experimental results show that the proposed optimal split of DCT coefficients and SD/MD switching algorithm is more effective than the conventional MU algorithms in low PLR conditions as well as In high PLR condition.

  • This study was conducted to examine the effects of adding phytoncide oil extracted from Korean pine nut cone by-product to the diet of dairy cows on milk yield and compositions, fatty acid characteristics, complete blood count and stress response. A total of 74 Holstein cows were used for 30 days and divided into two groups. Each group was given a basal diet (C) or an experimental diet containing phytoncide additives at 0.016% (T) in feed. The results showed that phytoncide feeding had no effect on milk yield. In addition, there were no observed effects on milk composition, but the ratio of fatty acid in milk was significantly affected by the phytoncide diet, and it showed a positive effect. Not only were the major functional fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid increased, but also ${\omega}6:{\omega}3$ fatty acid ratio was reduced in milk of T group (p<0.05). In blood analysis, the complete blood count showed no significant difference between C and T group on all parameters. However, the cortisol concentration was significantly decreased in T group compared to control (p<0.05). Taken together, we suggest that phytoncide oil does not have a great influence on the physiological changes, but can be a potential feed additive that improves the milk fatty acid and stress resilience in dairy cows. In addition, it will contribute to the development of feed resource, a reduction in feed cost and a lessening of environmental pollution.

  • Healthcare and data science are often linked through finances as the industry attempts to reduce its expenses with the help of large amounts of data. Data science and medicine are rapidly developing, and it is important that they advance together. Data science is a driving force in transition of healthcare systems from treatment-oriented to preventive care in healthcare 3.0 era. It enables customized precision-based medicine that current healthcare systems cannot facilitate, and discovers more cost-effective treatment. Currently, healthcare big data is in the reality of medical institution, public health, medical academia, pharmaceutical sector as well as insurance agency. With this motivation, the medical college of Soonchunhyang university has performed a 'healthcare data science initiative(HDSI)' since 2014. Most of domestic HDSI programs focus on short-term contents such as mentoring and sharing cases for data science. Therefore, it is difficult to provide education tailored to the level of skills and job competency required at the practical site. Soonchunhyang HDSI implemented specialized strategies for improving resilience and response to changes in the IT education of current healthcare with the emphasis on the need for systematic activation of the practical HDSI. The HDSI has been performed as a part of on industry-academic link program in CK-1. Through quantitative and qualitative analysis, this paper discussed the HDSI process, performance, achievement, and implications.

  • This study investigates the impact of international oil price fluctuations on overseas construction orders secured by domestic and foreign companies. The analysis employs statistical data spanning the past 20 years, encompassing international oil prices, overseas construction orders from domestic firms, and new overseas construction orders from the top 250 global construction companies. The correlation between these variables is assessed using correlation coefficients(R), determination coefficients(R2), and p-values. The results indicate a strong positive correlation between international oil prices and overseas construction orders. The correlation coefficient between domestic overseas construction orders and oil prices is found to be 0.8 or higher, signifying a significant influence. Similarly, a high correlation coefficient of 0.76 is observed between oil prices and new orders from leading global construction companies. Further analysis reveals a particularly strong correlation between oil prices and overseas construction orders in Asia and the Middle East, potentially due to the prevalence of oil-related projects in these regions. Additionally, a high correlation is observed between oil prices and orders for industrial facilities compared to architectural projects. This suggests an increase in plant construction volumes driven by fluctuations in oil prices. Based on these findings, the study proposes an entry strategy for navigating oil price volatility and maintaining competitiveness in the overseas construction market. Key recommendations include diversifying project locations and supplier bases; utilizing hedging techniques for exchange rate risk management, adapting to local infrastructure and market conditions, establishing local partnerships and securing skilled local labor, implementing technological innovations and digitization at construction sites to enhance productivity and cost reduction The insights gained from this study, coupled with the proposed overseas expansion strategies, offer valuable guidance for mitigating risks in the global construction market and fostering resilience in response to international oil price fluctuations. This approach is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of domestic and foreign construction firms seeking success in the international arena.
