  • In this paper, when stereo image, satellite view and corresponding depth maps were used as the input data, we propose a new method that convert these data to data format suitable for compressing, and then by using these format, intermediate view is synthesized. In the transmitter depth maps are merged to a global depth map and satellite view are converted to residual image corresponding hole region as out of frame area and occlusion region. And these images subsampled to reduce a mount of data and stereo image of main view are encoded by HEVC codec and transmitted. In the receiver intermediate views between stereo image and between stereo image and bit-rate are synthesized using decoded global depth map, residual images and stereo image. Through experiments, we confirm good quality of intermediate views synthesized by proposed format subjectively and objectively in comparison to intermediate views synthesized by MVD format versus total bit-rate.

  • Sparse-view computed tomography (CT) imaging technique is able to reduce radiation dose, ensure the uniformity of image characteristics among projections and suppress noise. However, the reconstructed images obtained by the sparse-view CT imaging technique suffer from severe artifacts, resulting in the distortion of image quality and internal structures. In this study, we proposed a convolutional neural network (CNN) with wavelet transformation and residual learning for reducing artifacts in sparse-view CT image, and the performance of the trained model was quantitatively analyzed. The CNN consisted of wavelet transformation, convolutional and inverse wavelet transformation layers, and input and output images were configured as sparse-view CT images and residual images, respectively. For training the CNN, the loss function was calculated by using mean squared error (MSE), and the Adam function was used as an optimizer. Result images were obtained by subtracting the residual images, which were predicted by the trained model, from sparse-view CT images. The quantitative accuracy of the result images were measured in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity (SSIM). The results showed that the trained model is able to improve the spatial resolution of the result images as well as reduce artifacts in sparse-view CT images effectively. Also, the trained model increased the PSNR and SSIM by 8.18% and 19.71% in comparison to the imaging model trained without wavelet transformation and residual learning, respectively. Therefore, the imaging model proposed in this study can restore the image quality of sparse-view CT image by reducing artifacts, improving spatial resolution and quantitative accuracy.

  • This paper introduces a new texture prediction for MVC( Multi-view Video Coding) which is currently being developed as an extension of the ITU-T Recommendation H.264 | ISO/IEC International Standard ISO/IEC 14496-10 AVC (Advanced Video Coding) [1]. The MVC's prcimary target is 3D video compression for 3D display system, thus, key technology compared to 2D video compression is reducing inter-view correlation. It is noticed, however, that the current JMVM [2] does not effectively eliminate inter-view correlation so that there is still a room to improve coding efficiency. The proposed method utilizes similarity of interview residual signal and can provide an additional coding gain. It is claimed that up to 0.2dB PSNR gain with 1.4% bit-rate saving is obtained for three multi-view test sequences.

  • The use of thick plate in increasing in recent years due to the rapid expansion of chemical plants, nuclear plants, ships and other industrial plants. Welding is the most popular joining techniques employed in manufacturing industrial machineries and structures. Normally, Groove shapes are prepared according to appropriate rules and regulations such as KS, JIS, AWS, LR, DNV and etc. for various thicknesses of plate. However those groove angles tend to be too large. As a result of large groove angle, residual stress, deformation of material and strength reduction is obtained. Therefore, the reliability and safety of structures and machinery tend to be decreasing. Therefore, in this paper, theoretical as well as experimental study are carried out to find optimum groove shapes for T-welded joint of mild steel. The test specimen are made in same condition with simulation model. Welding residual stresses measurement by sectional cutting method. ⅰ) The mechanical difference for change the thickness of plate and groove angle are not appeared. ⅱ) In a mechanical point of view minimum preparation angle(40°) is more suitable than maximum groove angle(60℃). ⅲ) The measurement value and distribution of welding residual stresses are not effected largely by groove angle. It is mechanical restraint that mainly affect welding residual stresses distribution. In mechanical point of view minimum groove angle is more suitable than maximum groove angle. Therefore, it is appropriate to minimize the size of groove shape in strength and safety.

  • A machine frame has been manufactured by casting. However, due to the development of the industrial society, 3-D duties was refused. Especially, the declination of the casting industry makes it difficult to produce the frame. Many companies still manufacture the small casting products. The large casting products are extremely limited and manufactured for their own use. Therefore, it is difficult to keep the term of order. In this study, the characteristics of steel structure which is produced by welding were identified in the view of mechanical strength of steel structure which is produced by welding were identified in the view of mechanical strength to substitute steel structure for casting frame. But welding structure has the residual stress, HAZ and welding deformation. Residual stress and HAZ especially cause crack growth. The proposed steel structure, based on the simulation and experiment(tensile curve and S-N curve), can reduce not only the producting term but also the weight of the frame.

  • With respect to thermal barrier coating, the analysis of interface cohesion and residual stress is important to the life of TBC from mechanical view point. Up to now, there is not a model of describing interface cohesion. In the paper, we give a simple model of computing residual stress and study the residual stress of TBC with ANSYS. The distribution of the residual stress in different interface topography and the relationship between the residual stress and the interface topography dimension are presented.

  • The origin of the interfascicular cambium from residual meristem can be elucidated by tangential and transverse observation. It is clear that there is structural distinction between interprocambial and interfascicular residual meristem and adjacent parenchyma in both the transverse and tangential view. Consequently, the residual meristem does not convert into parenchyma but, rather, becomes interfascicular cambium. In tangential view, the homogeneous structure of interfascicular residual meristem at an early stage changes gradually into a heterogeneous one at a later stage, with long and short cells from which fusiform and ray initials originate respectively. However, the homogeneous structure of parenchyma adjacent interfascicular residual meristem does not change into a heterogeneous one but remains the same at all stages of development. Therefore, the interfascicular cambium has a direct ontogenetic continuity with the residual meristem, and does not have its secondary origin from differentiated parenchyma. Furthermore, the ontogenetic pattern of the interfascicular cambium is almost the same as that of fascicular cambium.ambium.

  • Thermal energy from high temperatures can cause concrete damage, including mechanical and chemical degradation. In view of this, the residual mechanical properties of high-strength fiber reinforced concrete with a design strength of 75 MPa exposed to $400-800^{\circ}C$ were investigated in this study. The test results show that the average residual compressive strength of high-strength fiber reinforced concrete after being exposed to $400-800^{\circ}C$ was 88%, 69%, and 23% of roomtemperature strength, respectively. In addition, the benefit of steel fibers on the residual compressive strength of concrete was limited, but polypropylene fibers can help to maintain the residual compressive strength and flexural strength of concrete after exposure to $400-600^{\circ}C$. Further, the load-deflection curve of specimen containing steel fibers exposed to $400-800^{\circ}C$ had a better fracture toughness.

  • To predict the effect of ring expansion and ring compression on residual stress relief of Al 7175 ring rot]s, 2-D axisymmetric thermal analysis and elastoplastic analysis were performed. The residual stress distributions along the thickness of T73, T7351 and T7352 treated rings were measured using three step sectioning method. The measured results were compared to numerical ones for quenched and stress relieved rings. After quenching, calculated hoop and axial residual stresses were similar to measured ones for T73 treated rings. The residual stresses of T7351 and T7352 treated rings were decreased remarkably compared to T73 treated rings. The effect of axial residual stress relief was superior to that of hoop one, and also ring compression to ring expansion. It was concluded that ring compression is advantageous over ring expansion in view of stress relief effect and practicality, and vice versa in view of dimensional control and press power.

  • Even though a lot of efforts have been devoted to evaluate welding residual stress characteristics of nuclear components, from the view point of accuracy, there are still some arguments in application of engineering estimation schemes. In this paper, three-dimensional finite element analyses (FEA) were carried out to predict residual stress distributions in butt welds of a typical surge line piping. Mesh optimization was conducted and subsequent analysis results such as the axial and hoop stress components along the weld center line and inner wall. Moreover, alternative evaluation was conducted by using three representative equations and their results were compared to those of FEA. Thereby, key parameters affecting to temperature profiles and residual stress distributions were derived as well as an optimum engineering estimation scheme was recommended.
