In previous studies to obtain the residual magnetic flux of the transformer using the leakage magnetic flux, a transfer function was used. The transfer function was consisted with the leakage magnetic flux measured outside the transformer and the residual magnetic flux measured at the moment passing through the two ± residual points. In this study, a method of calculating the ratio of the maximum operating leakage flux to the residual leakage flux was proposed The advantage of this method is to avoid the uncertainty of the transfer function due to current noise. Then, the noise of the sensor was measured to investigate the effect of the drift of the noise on the measurement results. Comparing the residual leakage magnetic flux density with 80nT of the drift noise, 66 times or more at a distance of 10 mm and 5 times or more at a distance of 100 mm were obtained. 100mm was the maximum measurement distance to obtain the residual magnetic flux.
The residual flux(${\psi}_r$) in transformer's iron cores cause the distortion of short-circuit current occasionally. And some considerable distortion effect on the validation of test results. To prevent this situation, there needs some suitable control of residual flux through the pretest. This paper deals with the how to control the residual flux in pretest and the comparison between the two test results which were obtained by different test method.

This work was performed to investigate proper condition of coagulation treatment as UF process pretreatment that consider UF permeate flux and residual Al concentration. The coagulant used an alum as $Al_2(SO_4)_3{\cdot}16H_2O$ and PACl (r = 1.5) made this study. The experiment was tested in adjusting conditions such as alum dose, flocculation time and coagulation pH of seawater. Consequently, higher coagulant dose lead to elevation of UF permeate flux while residual aluminium also increased in condition of pH 8.0. The most suitable condition which has a good permeate flux and low residual aluminium, in this works, was coagulant dose of 0.7 mg/L (as Al, alum) and 1.2 mg/L (as Al, PACl) and coagulation pH 6.5. In addition, applying the flocculation time with 1.2 mg/L of PACI reduced. The flocculation time reduced UF permeate flux in using alum.
Recent keywords of the heavy industries are large-scale structure and productivity. Especially, the sizes of the commercial vessels and the offshore structures have been gradually increased to deliver goods and explore or produce oil and natural gas in the Arctic. High heat input welding processes such as electro gas welding (EGW) have been widely used for welding thick steel plates with flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), especially in the shipbuilding industries. Because high heat input welding may cause the detrimental effects on the fracture toughness of the welded joint and the heat affected zone, it is essential to obtain the sufficient toughness of welded joint. There are well known that the fracture toughness like CTOD, CVN, and KIC were very important factors in order to secure the safety of the structures. Furthermore, the welding residual stress should be considered to estimate the unstable fracture in both EGW and FCAW. However, there are no references on the welding residual stress distribution of EGW and FCAW with thick steel plates. Therefore the welding residual stresses were very important elements to evaluate the safety of the welded structure. Based on the measurement results, the characteristics of residual stress distribution through thickness were compared between one-pass electron gas welding and multi-pass flux-cored arc welding. The longitudinal residual stress in the multi-pass flux-cored arc welding is tensile through all thicknesses in the welding fusion zone. Meanwhile, longitudinal residual stress of EGW is tensile on both surfaces and compressive at the inside of the plate. The magnitude of residual stresses by electron gas welding is lower than that by flux-cored arc welding.
Pretreatment system of desalination process using seawater reverse osmosis(SWRO) membrane is the most critical step in order to prevent membrane fouling. One of the methods is coagulation-UF membrane process. Coagulation-UF membrane systems have been shown to be very efficient in removing turbidity and non-soluble and colloidal organics contained in the source water for SWRO pretreatment. Ferric salt coagulants are commonly applied in coagulation-UF process for pretreatment of SWRO process. But aluminum salts have not been applied in coagulation-UF pretreatment of SWRO process due to the SWRO membrane fouling by residual aluminum. This study was carried out to see the effect of residual matal salt on SWRO membrane followed by coagulation-UF pretreatment process. Experimental results showed that increased residual aluminum salts by coagulation-UF pretreatment process by using alum lead to the decreased SWRO membrane salt rejection and flux. As the salt rejection and flux of SWRO membrane decreased, the concentration of silica and residual aluminum decreased. However, when adjusting coagulation pH for coagulation-UF pretreatment process, the residual aluminum salt concentration was decreased and SWRO membrane flux was increased.
In this study, in order to develop evaluation method of the cleaning efficiency of residual flux which remains on the surface after soldering with solder paste, a specially designed metal tool is used to reduce spread uncertainty of flux while soldering. Using this tool, the measurement of cleaning efficiency of flux after soldering for some typical alternative semi-aqueous cleaners and 1,1,1-TCE by weighing method was conducted. As the test result of cleaning efficiency for each cleaner at several different cleaning times, the precision of the data is confirmed to within about 4% relative standard deviation (RSD) range. So, it is considered that this would be a good evaluation method for evaluating the cleaning efficiency of the residual flux which remains after solder paste soldering in the alternative cleaning. The results of this test method shows that the cleaning efficiency of ST 100SX and Neozal 750H in the cleaning of residual flux was better than other semi-aqueous cleaners, but its cleaning efficiency was clearly inferior to 1,1,1-TCE.

To discriminate polarities of stator windings for 3 phase induction motors terminal tags of which are not readable, it is possible to utilize the residual magnetic flux present at their rotors as well as to use the way based on external exciting current. The induced voltages are basically decided by parameters such as the quantity of residual flux, the rotator speed by hand force and the phase properties between stator windings. To adopt induced voltages by residual flux for polarity discrimination at sites, the measured voltages by multi-testers need to be readable in magnitude enough to discriminate winding condition with reasonable phase characteristics. This study focuses on the analysis of various connection cases in the expectation that the summing voltages induced by residual flux shall show zero in case of normal connections while the sum becomes greater indication if the connection is in wrong condition. The proposed method is applied to actual motors to disclose how effective it is for polarity discrimination at sites through comparison of output signals between normal and fault connections.

Residual salt separation is an essential step in pyroprocessing because its reaction products, as prepared by electrochemical unit processes, contain frozen residual electrolyte species, which are generally composed of alkali-metal chloride salts (e.g., LiCl, KCl). In this study, a simple technique that utilizes high-temperature gas flux as a driving force to melt and push out the residual salt in the reaction products was developed. This technique is simple as it only requires the use of a heating gun in combination with a gas injection system. Consequently, $LiNO_3-ZrO_2$ and $LiCl-ZrO_2$ mixtures were successfully separated by the high-temperature gas injection (separation efficiency > 93%), thereby demonstrating the viability of this simple technique for residual salt separation.

Design and implementation methodologies on the performance evaluation system of two-channel ring-core Flux-Gate Compass (FG-Compass) are described, with evaluation procedures and methods based on the polynomial regression models. Performance evaluation system is consists of a step motor driving unit, a bearing transmitting unit and, evaluation programs using polynomial regression formulae. Through performance evaluation tests, total residual deviation tests, total residual deviation of $\pm$4$^{\circ}$ and eigen residual deviation of $\pm$2$^{\circ}$ are obtained from the FG-Compass. The result is more accurate values than the typical FG-Compass with eigen residual deviation of $\pm$4$^{\circ}$ and is provide a possibility to develop a high performance FG-Compass. In addition, the design methodology of a smart FG-Compass with the self estimation and correction of residual deviations is also discussed.
This paper presents an algorithm for detecting current transformer (CT). At the instants of beginning and end of saturation, the increment of the secondary current is reduced significantly, depending on the residual flux and saturation time. Thus, the third difference of the current is used to detect saturation in this paper. If the third difference is less than threshold the CT is at the beginning/end of saturation. The proposed detection method is unaffected by the amount of residual flux. The results of various tests with residual flux from -80% to +80% indicate satisfactory performance of the method.
