The residual displacement ratio (RDRs) response spectra have been generally used as an important means to evaluate the post-earthquake repairability, and the ratios of residual to maximum inelastic displacement are considered to be more appropriate for development of the spectra. This methodology, however, assumes that the expected residual displacement can be computed as the product of the RDRs and maximum inelastic displacement, without considering the correlation between these two variables, which inevitably introduces potential systematic error. For providing an adequately accurate estimate of residual displacement, while accounting for the collapse resistance performance prior to the repairability evaluation, a probability-based procedure to estimate the residual displacement demands using the nonlinear static analysis (NSA) is developed for single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) systems. To this end, the energy-based equivalent damping ratio used for NSA is revised to obtain the maximum displacement coincident with the nonlinear time history analysis (NTHA) results in the mean sense. Then, the possible systematic error resulted from RDRs spectra methodology is examined based on the NTHA results of SDOF systems. Finally, the statistical relation between the residual displacement and the NSA-based maximum displacement is established. The results indicate that the energy-based equivalent damping ratio will underestimate the damping for short period ranges, and overestimate the damping for longer period ranges. The RDRs spectra methodology generally leads to the results being non-conservative, depending on post-yield stiffness. The proposed approach emphasizes that the repairability evaluation should be based on the premise of no collapse, which matches with the current performance-based seismic assessment procedure.
When connecting 6 lead wires from stator windings to the terminals of 3 phase induction motors for Y or ${\triangle}$ connection, it is feared that the polarities of windings could be reversed each other if the wire tags are lost or erased, resulting in inadmissibly high current to motors in case of starting. To protect motors against such situations, some test procedures are necessary during wire connection which need to be easy ways to electricians without particular tools except a general multi-tester and with less time-consuming in the field. This study focuses on a test measure to satisfy these requirements which is able to provide them a convenient procedure for winding polarity discrimination considering the field condition. Here, the proposed measure utilizes the residual magnetism of the rotor and checks the indication of voltage or current at windings which are induced by the residual flux of rotor when rotating it by hands with 3 stator windings connected in the form of I connection. Principle characteristics and experiment results for this method are analyzed in the view of the effectiveness and applicability for the winding polarity discrimination.

Current measurements at 3 sections and numerical experiments were carried out in Masan Bay to understand the effect of the wind on the residual currents and pollutant transport. The vertical distribution of horizontal velocities were directly affected by the wind at the depths of 1m and 2m beneath the sea surface. Analysis of the velocity data suggested that changes in the vertical gravitational circulation contributed to the net circulation. The net transport of water through the northern part of the bay was observed to be landward, with wind-induced transport of about 100m super(3)/s. Hence, wind is concluded to be the dominant mechanism driving the net circulation in the northern area of Masan Bay. Numerical experiments are shown that when S wind with 5m/s blew, northern area of the bay was generated the horizontal circulation of clockwise and local gyre. On the contrary of those, N wind made her to the anti-clockwise. In the case of no wind, the tidal residual current(constant flow) is very small or neglected except the bay-mouth. The inflow or outflow pattern of the mouth is considered as the flows generated by tidal residual current only. The distance of wind-induced transport of pollutant was as long as 2 times of no wind during the one tidal period.
The purpose of this study of this study is to find tide and tidal current variation by three dimensional numerical model of tide and tidal current in the bay of Cheonsu in Korea. On the basis of the observed data on water temperature and salinity data and wind data of summer(July) in the bay of Cheonsu in Korea, water circulation in the bay of Cheonsu is investigated with use of a robust diagnostic numerical model, including calculated co-range and co-tidal charts of M2 tide are similar to the observed ones. The residual flow Pattern at the surface layer during summer formed clockwise circulation in the front coastal the dike of the Sosam A zone(Ganwor island) and Taeju island. The residual flow pattern at the 15m layer during formed clockwise circulation in the front Taeju island. The residual flow Pattern at the surface layer formed anti-clockwise circulation in the upper Sangmok and Naepasu island.
The effect of wind on the circulation in Kamak Bay in the southern sea of Korea was examined using a numerical shallow water model. The experiments were primarily focused on how the effect of wind influence the tidal residual current. According to wind directions, the residual currents were changed; the westerly wind created a strong anti-clockwise eddy in the northwestern area of the bay where the flow field is usually very weak; the easterly wind strengthened the flow field in the central area of the bay; the patterns of flow fields to the north and south winds were almost the same as one without the wind, although the flow field became slightly stronger, The model flirty reproduced features in the observed current field at Pyongsa.
Chloride baths for electrodeposited Ni thin films were fabricated by dissolving metal Ni powders with the mixed solution consisting of HCl and de-ionized water. Current efficiency, residual stress, surface morphology and microstructure of Ni films with the change of metal ion ($Ni^{2+}$) concentrations in the plating solution were studied. Current efficiency was measured to be more than 90% with increasing $Ni^{2+}$ concentrations in the plating solution. Residual stress of Ni thin film was increased from about 400 to 780 MPa with increasing $Ni^{2+}$ concentration from 0.2 to 0.5 M. It is gradually decreased to 650 MPa at 0.9 M $Ni^{2+}$ concentration. Smooth surface morphologies were observed over 0.3 M $Ni^{2+}$ concentration, but nodule surface morphology at 0.2 M. Ni films consist of FCC(111), FCC(200), FCC(220) and FCC(311) peaks in XRD patterns. Preferred orientation of FCC(111) was observed and its intensity was slightly decreased with increasing $Ni^{2+}$ concentration. The average grain size was slightly increased at 0.3 M $Ni^{2+}$ concentration and then slightly decreased with increasing $Ni^{2+}$ concentration.
The current limiting characteristics of hybrid SFCL with additional power electronic devices was investigated in order to improve operation reliabilities. The hybrid SFCL developed consists of a superconducting trigger (S/T) part, a fast switch (F/S) module and a current limiting (C/L) part. Although hybrid SFCL had shown a excellent current limiting characteristics, this device was rather vulnerable to the residual arc currents which could exist during fast switch operation. This undesirable arc should be extinguished as quickly as possible in order to implement perfect fault current commutation. So, in order to eliminate the residual arcs between fast switch contacts, the power electronic devices (IGBT or GTO) were connected in series between the S/T part and the interrupter of the F/S module. According to the fault tests conducting with an input voltage of $270\;V_{rms}$ and a fault current of $5\;kA_{rms}$, The power electronic devices could perfectly remove the arc generated between the contacts of the interrupter within 4 ms after the fault occurred. From the test analysis, it was confirmed that the hybrid SFCL could enhance the operation reliability by adopting additional power electronic devices.
This paper describes lightning impulse operating duty performance and temperature dependence of series gap type for transmission line arresters. The ageing parameters of lightning arresters are impulse current, moisture ingress, temperature ageing and so on. Especially it is important to estimate the change of electrical characteristics by lightning impulse current. In the discharge withstand test, total energy applied to the ZnO arrester each time is 4/10 ${\mu}s$, 30 kA. and in the operating duty test, the arrester has passed the test if thermal stability is achieved, if the residual voltage measured before and after the test is not changed by more than 5 %, and after the test reveals no evidence of puncture, flashover or cracking of the ZnO block. As a results, the residual voltage was in the range of 17.2${\sim}$20.3 kV and ZnO block bear up against at 2 shot of series impulse current of 30 kA. Also it was so excellent that the mechanical destruction does not occur at the 2 groups of 5 impulses current of 2/20 ${\mu}s$ 10 kA. According to the tests, it is thought that the ZnO arrester shows good stability with impulse current test. and it was found that the ambient temperature is increased resistive leakage current was increased in the range 47.3${\sim}$167.4 ${\mu}A$.
