The objective of this study is to detect the multi-fault of HVAC system using a new pattern classification technique. To classify the effect of single-fault in determining the pattern, supply air temperature, OA-damper, supply fan, and air flowrate were chosen as experimental parameters. The combination of supply temperature, flow rate, supply fan and OA-damper were chosen as multi-fault conditions. Three kinds of patterns were introduced in the analysis of multi-fault problem. To solve multi-fault problem, the new pattern classification technique using residual ratio analysis was introduced to detect the multi-fault as well as single-fault. The residual ratio could diagnose single-fault or multi-fault into several patterns.
Hot rolled strip is cooled by air and water in Run-Out-Table. In this process, phase transformation and shape deformation occurs due to temperature drop. Because of un-ideal cooling condition of ROT, irregular shape deformation and phase transformation arise in the strip. which affect the strip property and lead to the residual stress of strip. And these exert effects on the following processes, coiling process, coil cooling process, and re-coiling process. Through these processes, the residual stress becomes higher and severe. For the prediction of residual stress distribution and shape deformation of final product, Finite element(FE) based model was used. It consists of non-steady state heat transfer analysis, elasto-plastic analysis. thermodynamic analysis and phase transformation kinetics. Successive FEM simulation were applied from ROT process to coil cooling process. In each process simulation, previous process simulation results were used for the next process simulation. The simulation results were matched well with the experimental results.
This study performs the pilot-plant experiments to evaluate the effect of the oxygen enrichment on the co-incineration of municipal solid waste and organic sludge from a wastewater treatment facility. The design capacity of the stoker-type incinerator pilot-plant is 150 kg/h. Combustion chamber temperatures were measured as well as the stack gas concentrations, i.e., NOx, CO, and the residual oxygen. The maximum ratio of organic sludge waste to the total waste input is 30%. Also the oxygen-enriched air with 23% of oxygen in supplied air is used for stable combustion. As the co-incineration ratio of the sludge increased up to 30% of the total waste input, the primary and the secondary combustion chamber temperature was decreased $to900^{\circ}C$ (primary combustion chamber), $750^{\circ}C$(secondary combustion chamber), respectively, approximately $200^{\circ}C$ below the incineration temperature of the domestic waste only (primary: $1,100^{\circ}C$, secondary: $950^{\circ}C$). However, if the supplied air was enriched to 22% oxygen content in air, the incinerator temperature was high enough to burn the waste mixture with 30% sludge, which has the heating value of 1,600 kcal/kg.

EOF analysis of tidal residual derived from 2003~2009 tide data was used to identify the spatio-temporal variability. The effect of sea surface air pressures and winds on the tidal residual was also investigated by the correlation analysis. The first mode accounting for 68 % of the total variance represented concurrent sea level rise or fall, and the second mode accounting for 21 % of the total variance explained alternative sea level rise and fall between West Sea coast and both South Sea and East Sea coasts. While northerly and southerly winds dominated the tidal residual in the eastern coast of Yellow Sea, the effect of sea surface air pressures on the tidal residual increased along the coastal regions from South Sea to East Sea.
A heat pipe residual heat removal system is proposed to be incorporated into the reactor driven subcritical (RDS) facility, which has been proposed by MIT Nuclear Reactor Laboratory for testing and demonstrating the Fluoride-salt-cooled High-temperature Reactor (FHR). It aims to reduce the risk of the system operation after the shutdown of the facility. One of the main components of the system is an air-cooled heat pipe heat exchanger. The alkali-metal high-temperature heat pipe was designed to meet the operation temperature and residual heat removal requirement of the facility. The heat pipe model developed in the previous work was adopted to simulate the designed heat pipe and assess the heat transport capability. 3D numerical simulation of the subcritical facility active zone was performed by the commercial CFD software STAR CCM + to investigate the operation characteristics of this proposed system. The thermal resistance network of the heat pipe was built and incorporated into the CFD model. The nominal condition, partial loss of air flow accident and partial heat pipe failure accident were simulated and analyzed. The results show that the residual heat removal system can provide sufficient cooling of the subcritical facility with a remarkable safety margin. The heat pipe can work under the recommended operation temperature range and the heat flux is below all thermal limits. The facility peak temperature is also lower than the safety limits.

Run-Out-Table is the region between EDT and CT. Hot killed strip is cooled by air and water in ROT. In this procedure, phase transformation and shape deformation occur due to temperature drop. Because of un-ideal cooling condition, deformation of strip and non-uniform phase distribution come into existence. This phenomenon affects the strip property and lead th the existence of residual stress. And it exerts effects on the Coiling process, Coil Cooling process, and Un-coiling process. Through these process, the residual stresses of strip are more larger and unbalance of these stresses become more severe. Finite element (FE) based models for the analysises of non-steady state heat transfer and elastoplastic deformation are described in this investigation. The analysises of thermodynamics and phase transformation kinetics are suggested also. Using the ROT simulation result coiling process and coil cooling process simulations are carried out.

In this paper, we proposed the two-parameter model for predicting the residual strength in CFRP laminated composites subjected to high velocity impact and developed and formulated it based upon Cparino's by using the ratio of impact and the normalized residual strength. Critical indentation was obtained by the statical indentation tests. Impact tests were carried out through air-gun type impact equipment with the velocities varied 30-100m/sec. Projectiles were steel balls with 5 and 7mm in diameter. Test material was carbon/epoxy. The specimens were composed of [ .+-. 45 .deg. /0 .deg. /90 .deg. ]$\_$2/ and [ .+-. 45 .deg. ]$\_$4/stacking sequences and had 0.75$\^$T/*0.26$\^$W/*100$\^$L/(mm) dimension. Results from the proposed model were in good agreement with the test data. And failure mechanism due to high velocity impact is given here to examine the initation and deveolpment of damage by fractography and ultrasonic image system. The effects of the 0 .deg. -direction ply position and the amount to damage area on the residual strength are considered here.
Purpose: Numerical and experimental study was performed to evaluate the effect of peening temperature on the residual compressive stress distribution and magnitude of residual compressive stress at the material surface. Methods: A compressive air-propelled warm peening equipment was designed and manufactured for warm peening test. Results: 3D dynamic finite element (FE) model of the warm peening test was proposed and validity of the proposed FE model was verified by comparing the predicted residual stresses with the measured residual stresses in the open literature. Maximum warm peening temperature and a proper peening time were investigated with the proposed FE model. Conclusion: Compressive residual stress increased remarkably with peening temperature increased. But, peening temperature is greater than $350^{\circ}C$, the effect of peening temperature disappeared. Therefore, maximum peening temperature possibly applicable for warm peening industry might be $350^{\circ}C$ and peening time is 45s.
To ensure hygienic safety of drinking water in a water storage tank, the concentrations of residual chlorine should be above a certain regulation level. In this study, we conducted model simulations to investigate the effects of temperature on residual chlorine in water storage tank conditions typically used in Seoul. For this, values of model parameters (decomposition rate constant, sorption coefficient, and evaporation mass transfer coefficient) were experimentally determined from laboratory experiments. The model simulations under continuous flow conditions showed that the residual chlorine concentrations were satisfied the water quality standard level (0.1 mg/L) at all the temperature conditions ($5^{\circ}C$, $10^{\circ}C$, $15^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$). Meanwhile, when the tanks had a no flow condition (i.e., no tap-water influent due to a sudden shut-down), the concentrations became lower than the regulatory level after certain periods. The findings from this modeling works simulating Seoul's water storage tanks suggested disappearance rate of residual chlorine could be reduced through the tanks design optimization with maintenance of low water temperature, minimization of air flow and volume, suppression of dispersion and the use of wall materials with low sorption ability.
