  • Recently, big data and artificial intelligence (AI) based on communication systems have become one of the hottest issues in the technology sector, and methods of analyzing big data using AI approaches are now considered essential. This paper presents diverse paradigms to subjects which deal with diverse research areas, such as image segmentation, fingerprint matching, human tracking techniques, malware distribution networks, methods of intrusion detection, digital image watermarking, wireless sensor networks, probabilistic neural networks, query processing of encrypted data, the semantic web, decision-making, software engineering, and so on.

  • Recently, as mobile paradigms such as telematics or LBS (Location Based Service) have been being more diverse and mobile devices such as PDA (Personal Digital Assistance) or several telematics terminals have been being used more widely, mobile services, for example, mobile geographic information service have been being put more importance by people. In this paper, we propose to adopt S/W and data streaming mechanism as a method to improve performance of mobile geographic information service which is a representative of mobile services based on client-server architecture. The show the effectiveness of proposed methods, we design and implement S/W streaming prototype system and sample mobile geographic information service to be executed on the S/W streaming system.

  • 정보 네트워크의 발달은 단순한 기술 개발의 단계를 넘어서서 경제, 사회, 문화, 교육 둥 모든 분야의 변화를 강제하는 수단으로 자리잡았다. 기존의 지식과 새로운 지식은 서로 공존하고 충돌하는 과정에서 발전하고 쇠퇴하였으며, 그 변화의 빠르기는 예측이 불가능한 상태로까지 치닫고 있다. 단순한 정보 전달의 방식으로부터 이해와 설득까지도 포함하는 인터랙티브한 커뮤니케이션 방식으로의 전환은, 정보를 합목적적으로 가공하고 편집하는 정보 디자인의 영역을 커뮤니케이션 흐름의 전면에 부각시키는 결과로 연결되었다 미래를 지향하고 새로운 정보 네트워크 환경을 수용하는 새로운 디자인의 개념확립과, 이를 적극적으로 디자인 교육과정에 접목시킬 수 있는 교육 프로그램의 개발은, 디자인 지식노동자로서의 디자이너를 양성하고 디자인 교육 인프라를 구축하는데 선행되어야할 매우 중요한 과제라 하겠다. 본 논문에서는 새로운 디자인 교육 프로그램을 위한 과정으로서, 정보 네트워크 사회로의 변화에 따른 새로운 디자인 패러다임의 변화와, 변화에 적응하기 위한 요건으로서의 디자인교육 프로그램의 과제, 그리고 이러한 조건을 만족시키기 위한 새로운 교육 프로그램을 연구하였다.

  • Despite considerable advancements achieved using next-generation sequencing technologies in exploring microbial diversity, several species of the gut microbiome remain unknown. In this transformative era, culturomics has risen to prominence as a pivotal approach in unveiling realms of microbial diversity that were previously deemed inaccessible. Utilizing innovative strategies to optimize growth and culture medium composition, scientists have successfully cultured hard-tocultivate microbes. This progress has fostered the discovery and understanding of elusive microbial entities, highlighting their essential role in human health and disease paradigms. In this review, we emphasize the importance of culturomics research on the gut microbiome and provide new theories and insights for expanding microbial diversity via the optimization of cultivation conditions.

Managerial Involvement in Investment Decision: A Study of Hydropower Enterprises

  • This study extends the extant scope of understanding investment decision, beyond the dominant 'technical' emphasis on the application of discounted cash flow techniques. The research methodology draws the positivist and interpretive research paradigms. It uses a deductive approach, survey strategy and principal component analysis for the analysis. Three key sets of factors emerged as important in the investment decision process in the hydropower sector. They are: group consensus (framing), influences on own judgment (heuristics), and application of knowledge & experience (intuition). The use of purposive and convenient sampling might have some unintended impact on the findings. Consequently, any generalizations of the findings to a wider population of organizations and managers need to be made with care. It is hoped that this paper will encourage other researchers to go beyond the analytic techniques of investment appraisal that have dominated investment decision research and seek to balance the emphasis by focusing on human involvement and behavioral aspects of investment decision.

  • 학문의 발달은 연구자들의 꾸준한 노력뿐 아니라 패러다임의 수호와 전환을 거치면서도 이루어진다. 패러다임의 수호와 전환은 변칙적인 사례에 대한 논의를 통해 이루어진다. 수학교육학 역시 몇 가지 탐구적 패러다임의 전환을 거치며 발달해왔다. 탐구적 패러다임의 전환은 이전 패러다임의 삭제를 의미하지는 않는다. 대신, 기존의 탐구적 패러다임이 건재하는 와중에 기존과는 다른 연구 목적 및 현상학적 기반을 가진 접근법이 발생함으로써 학계의 외연 확장에 기여하였다. 그러나 여전히 수학교육연구는 과학적이고 객관적이어야만 한다는 관점이 존재한다. 본고는 이러한 객관성이 모든 연구가 반드시 따라야만 하는 절대적인 원칙은 아님을 논증한다. 이를 위해 예술기반 연구를 일례로 제시한다. 예술기반 연구는 처음부터 객관적이기를 명백히 거부하며, 앎을 추구함에 있어 논리와 감성의 통합이 중요함을 주장한다. 연구 활동의 근본적인 목적이 지식 생산과 사회의 긍정적인 변화에 있다면, 예술기반 연구는 이러한 본질의 실행에 충실하다. 본고는 예술기반 연구의 기법 중 하나인 소설적 글쓰기 기법을 적용하여 수학교육연구를 수행하고, 그 결과물인 소설을 제시하였다. 그럼으로써 소설적 글쓰기 기법과 예술기반 연구를 수학교육연구의 주요 접근으로 받아들이는 것이 적합한가에 대한 학계의 논의를 촉발하고자 하였다.

  • This paper presents methodological paradigms : quantitative positivistic (logical empiricism) as the received tradition in the scientific inquiry and qualitative naturalistic (post -positivism or nataralism) as a new paradigm in the Kuhnian sense. Various kind of qualitative methods under the umbrella term, qualitative inquiry, were briefly introduced. Details on the definition, epistemology, naming of subject, field technique (participant observation and ethnographic interview) of ethnographic research method as an adequate method for studying on the unique nursing phenomena in Korean culture were done. Besides, the concept of triangulation, issues on the methododogical paradigm, a criteria for rigor of qualitative naturalistic inquiry were mentioned.

  • The paradigm of mobile communication technology has changed from an increase in transmission capacity to service-based technologies satisfying various types of service requirements. One of the new paradigms is a service that provides users with a QoE (Quality Of Experience (QoE), at anytime and anywhere. 5G defines various technologies such as dense network structures and beam selection for increasing the transmission capacity and ensuring the quality of experience so as to satisfy this requirement, and related research is underway. In this paper, we describe the definition of a 5G small cell and 5G network structure as well as research trends of standardization and related technologies for constructing optimal solutions for mobile users in dense networks based on small cells.

IoT and Smart City Technology: Challenges, Opportunities, and Solutions

  • Internet of Things (IoT) technology has been recently utilized in diverse fields. Smart city is one of the IoT application domains with a lot of research topics and which is operated by integrated IoT applications. In this paper, diverse kinds of solutions, processes, and frameworks to address the existing challenges in information technology are introduced. Such solutions involve various future track topics including blockchain, security, steganography, optimization, machine learning, smart system, and so on. In the subsequent paragraphs, we describe each topic in a summarized way in terms of the existing challenges and their solutions. Specifically, this paper introduced 18 novel and enhanced research studies from different countries in the world. We present diverse kinds of paradigms to subjects that tackle diverse kinds of research areas such as IoT and Smart City, and so on.

Ability and Creativity : Their Role in Science and Technology

  • In addition to exceptional abilities and domain-specific aptitudes, frequently creativity potentials are used to explain high achievements in science and technology. In the Guilford tradition, research focuses increasingly on convergent versus divergent thinking, that is, a suspected dichotomy between intelligence and creativity. Despite important insights from this about relationship of ability and creativity, a number of important questions remain unanswered. These relate not only to conceptualization and measurement problems regarding the hypothetical constructs "scientific ability" and "creativity", but also their diagnosis and nurturance in childhood and adolescence. It would appear that, in view of current research paradigms, the role of ability and creativity needs to be redefinded in order to more reliably predict and explain excellent achievements in science and technology. Advances are mostly expected from synthetic approaches. Thus, I will be presenting new theoretical models and empirical research results. Finally, consequences for the prediction and promotion of mathematical-scientific and technical talents will be discussed including the consideration of sex-related problems.
