Investigation on the validity of the rule of mixtures (복합재료 혼합법칙의 타당성 검토)

  • 섬유강화 복합재료의 섬유와 수지까지 세부적으로 모델링이 가능한 Direct Numerical Simulation을 통해서 Boron/Aluminum 섬유강화 복합재료의 탄성계수들을 구해 보았다. 수치실험에서는 복합재료를 직교이방성 물질로 가정하였고, 특정 체적에 대한 평균치를 이용해서 물성치를 구하였으며, 혼합법칙에 의해서 구한 값 및 대표체적요소(Representative Volume Element)를 사용해서 구한 값들과 비교하였다. 혼합법칙의 경우, 섬유방향 인장계수(E₁)을 제외한 나머지 물성치들에 대해서는 상당한 차이를 나타내며, 이는 혼합법칙 유도과정에서 가정한 기본가정들이 적절하지 않기 때문이라는 것을 수치실험(Numerical Experiment)을 통해 알 수 있었다.

  • This paper is ai ed to handle quick work for all the workers and to improve the productivity by adding more effective content in Crane Monitoring System. The contributing proportion of the increase of port productivity is more increasing concerning not only the port industry, but also all the informations of container crane which is the representative equipment by the rapid increase of the volume of freight of port. The basic of rapid service is the improvement of the productivity, the information of operation as to the productivity of crane for the quick handling within yard and especially the informations of breakdown and to handle breakdown as soon as possible has a great enect on the increase of productivity.

  • In the current study, a new dynamic recrystallization model for predicting high temperature flow stress is developed based on a physical model and the mean field theory. In the model, the grain aggregate is assumed as a representative volume element to describe dynamic recrystallization. The flow stress and microstructure during dynamic recrystallization were calculated using three sub-models for work hardening, for nucleation and for growth. In the case of work hardening, a single parameter dislocation density model was used to calculate change of dislocation density and stress in the grains. For modeling nucleation, the nucleation criterion developed was based on the grain boundary bulge mechanism and a constant nucleation rate was assumed. Conventional rate theory was used for describing growth. The flow stress behavior of pure copper was investigated using the model and compared with experimental findings. Simulated results by cellular automata were used for validating the model.

  • Some physico-chemical properties such as surface area, moisture content, cation exchange capacity, swelling rate, pH, viscosity and liquid limit have been determined for evaluation of Cabentonite deposit occurring in four localities; Yonil, Gampo, Haseo and Pohang, in Gyeongsang-do. Montmorillonite contents can be derived from surface area measurement. Enhancement of liquid limit values and swelling volume were observed in the samples which had higher exchangeable Na ion and finer particle-size distribution. Identical results were observed even in the Na-exchanged samples. This suggests that aggregation effects have a great influence on physico-chemical properties. Aggregation of montmorillonite were controlled not only burial depth but also composition of exchangeable cation. Consequently, sample occurred in Yonil area where has the greatest burial depth in the area show somewhat lower physico-chemical properties than those of samples occurred in the other localities. However, the basic test applied in this study provides very useful preliminary information relating to its commercial potential.

  • A poroelastic composite material, containing different material phases and filled with fluids, serves as a model to formulate the overall ablative behaviors of such materials. This article deals with the assessment of variation in nondeterministic poroelastic properties of two-phase composite materials using micromechanical representative volume element (RVE) models. Considering the configuration and arrangement of pores in a matrix phase, various RVEs are modeled and analyzed according to their porosity. In order to quantitatively investigate the effects of microstructure, changes in effective elastic moduli and poroelastic parameters are measured via finite element (FE) analysis. The poroelastic parameters are calculated from the effective elastic moduli and the pore-pressure-induced strains. The reliability of the numerical results is verified through image-based FE models with the actual shape of pores in carbon-phenolic ablative materials. Additionally, the variation of strain energy density is measured, which can possibly be used to evaluate microstress concentrations.

  • This paper describes the development of a parallel computational algorithm based on the finite element tearing and interconnecting (FETI) method that uses a local Lagrange multiplier. In this approach, structural computational domain is decomposed into non-overlapping sub-domains using local Lagrange multiplier. The local Lagrange multipliers are imposed at interconnecting nodes. 8-node solid element using extra shape function is adopted by using the representative volume element (RVE). The parallel computational algorithm is further established based on message passing interface (MPI). Finally, the present FETI-local approach is implemented on parallel hardware and shows improved performance.

  • Protostellar jets and outflows are signatures of star formation and promising mechanisms for driving supersonic turbulence in molecular clouds. We quantify outflow-driven turbulence through three-dimensional numerical simulations using an isothermal version of the total variation diminishing code. We drive turbulence in real space using a simplified spherical outflow model, analyze the data through density probability distribution functions (PDFs), and investigate density and velocity power spectra. The real-space turbulence-driving method produces a negatively skewed density PDF possessing an enhanced tail on the low-density side. It deviates from the log-normal distributions typically obtained from Fourier-space turbulence driving at low densities, but can provide a good fit at high densities, particularly in terms of mass-weighted rather than volume-weighted density PDF. We find shallow density power-spectra of -1.2. It is attributed to spherical shocks of outflows themselves or shocks formed by the interaction of outflows. The total velocity power-spectrum is found to be -2.0, representative of the shock dominated Burger's turbulence model. Our density weighted velocity power spectrum is measured as -1.6, slightly less that the Kolmogorov scaling values found in previous works.
