  • The demand for multimedia service using Ka-band satellite communication are growing rapi이y. So, in this paper, we have analyzed rain attenuation with typical model, and proposed prediction model of rain attenuation in high frequency(over 20[GHz]). Path loss model by rain attenuation is based upon rain rate of representative region(6 cities). Proposed prediction model of rain attenuation and parameter of satellite link can be available for the Ka-band satellite communication.

  • Rhizomes of Polygonatum species belong to Liliaceae are important herbal drugs in the traditional medical practice of Asian region. Two representative Chinese drugs derived from this genus are Hwangjeong and Okjuk. Though botanical origins of these drugs are officially listed as P. falcatum, P. sibiricum and P. kingianum for Hwangjeong and P. odoratum var. pluriflorum for Okjuk in the Korean Pharmacopoeia and Korean Herbal Pharmacopoeia, respectively, they are often sold as a mixture of several different species in the market. • A new query method, called query by visual keys, is proposed to aim easy operation and efficient region-based image retrieval (RBIR). Visual keys are constructed from representative regions/subimages in a given image database, and the database is indexed with visual keys. A system on PC is presented, where text retrieval techniques are applied to the image retrieval with visual keys. Experimental results show that one retrieval is done within 4ms and that the proposed system achieves the comparable retrieval precision (with user-friendly operation and low computational cost) to conventional region based image retrieval systems

  • Regional anesthesia in the maxillofacial region is safer and more efficient than general anesthesia when its indications are carefully considered. In addition, the majority of medical institutions in developing countries are not well equipped for proper anesthesia and elective surgery. In this review, we describe regional anesthesia and cutaneous nerve divisions in the maxillofacial region. In addition, we summarize detailed regional anesthetic techniques adapted for representative cleft lip cases in developing countries.

  • Colorization is a method using computer to add color to a black and white image automatically. The input is a grayscale image and some representative pixels (RPs). The RPs contain the color information for the image, and it indicates each region's color information. Colorization-based coding is a novel way for lossy image compression, it decodes a color image to get grayscale image and extracts RPs from the image. Because RPs decides the region's color and we also want small data size for image compression, form this viewpoint the paper proposes a way to get better and fewer RPs based on watershed segmentation. According to the segmentation result we also improve the original chrominance blending colorization method to save decode time and get better reconstruct image.

  • Due to the fast development in computer and communication technologies, a video is now being more widely used than ever in many areas. The current information analyzing systems are originally built to process text-based data. Thus, it has little bits problems when it needs to correctly represent the ambiguity of a video, when it has to process a large amount of comments, or when it lacks the objectivity that the jobs require. We would like to purpose an algorithm that is capable of analyze a large amount of video efficiently. In a video, divided areas use a region growing and region merging techniques. To sample the color, we translate the color from RGB to HSI and use the information that matches with the representative colors. To sample the shape information, we use improved moment invariants(IMI) so that we can solve many problems of histogram intersection caused by current IMI and Jain. Sampled information on characteristics of the streaming media will be used to find similar frames.

  • This article described that a high Reynolds number version of a turbulence model was modified by using drag reduction to analyze the turbulent flows of non-Newtonian fluid with visco-elastic viscosity and it was applied hemodynamics which was representative of visco-elastic fluid. The turbulence characteristics of visco-elastic fluid was expanded viscous sublayer region and buffer layer region by drag reduction phenomenon and also Newtonian turbulence models does not predict because viscosity was related with shear rate of fluid flow. Hence numerical simulation using a modified turbulence model was conducted under the same conditions that were applied to obtain the experiment results and previous turbulence models and then the numerical investigation of turbulent blood flow in the stenosed artery bifurcation under periodic acceleration of the human body.

  • This paper proposes an algorithm that can reduce the estimation error of surface spectral-reflectance(SR) when using a conventional 3-band RGB camera. In the proposed method, the estimation error is reduced by using adaptive principle components (PCs) for each color region. To build an adaptive set of PCs, n SR populations are organized for n PC sets using the Lloyd quantizer design algorithm. The Macbeth Color Checker is utilized for the initial representative SR values for 1485 Munsell color chips as the total color population, then the Munsell chips arc divided into subsets with a set of corresponding adaptive PCs organized for each subset.

  • A simple method was suggested to calculate the stress intensity factor for a one-sided patched crack with finite thickness. To consider out-of-plane bending effect resulting from the load-path eccentricity, the spring constant as a function of the through-thickness coordinate z was calculated from the stress distribution in the un-cracked plate, ${\sigma}_{yy}(y=0,\;z)$, and the displacement for the representative single strip Joint, $u_y(y=0,\;z)$. The stress Intensity factors were obtained using Rose's asymptotic solution approach and compared with the finite element results. In short crack region, two results had a little difference. However, two results were almost same in long crack region. On the other hand, the stress intensity factor using plane stress assumption was more similar to finite element result than plane strain condition.
