In transmitting compressed video bit-stream over Internet, packet loss causes error propagation in both spatial and temporal domain, which in turn leads to severe degradation in image qualify In this paper, a new approach for the recovery of lost or erroneous Motion Vector(MV)s by clustering the movements of neighboring blocks by their homogeneity is proposed. MVs of neighboring blocks are clustered according to ALA(Average Linkage Algorithm) clustering and a representative value for each cluster is determined to obtain the candidate MV set. By computing the distortion of the candidates, a MV with the minimum distortion is selected. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm exhibits better performance in many cases than existing methods.

We propose a new sampling design for the 2001 Health Index Survey at Seoul. In this stratified two-stage sampling design, the ED(enumeration district) of 2000 Population and Housing Census is used as primary sampling unit and the Gu is used as stratification variable in order to obtain the sub-domain estimate for 25 Gu's as well as population estimate for Seoul. The sample ED's are systematically selected after the Ed's are ordered by location and property to obtain a representative sample. And also, the imputation methods for item nonresponses are suggested.

Database summarization is the procedure to obtain generalized and representative descriptions expressing the content of a large amount of database at a glance. We present a top-down summary refinement procedure to discover database summaries. The procedure exploits attribute concept hierarchies that represent ISA relationships among domain concepts. It begins with the most generalized summary and proceeds to find more specialized ones by stepwise refinements. This top-down paradigm reveals at least two important advantages compared to the previous bottom-up methods. Firstly, it provides a natural way of reflecting the user's own discovery preference interactively. Secondly, it does not produce too large intermediate result that makes it hard for the bottom-up approach to be applied in practical environment. The proposed procedure can also be easily extended for distributed databases. Information content measure of a database summary is derived in order to identify more informative summaries among the discovered results.

Objective: To prevent adolescent drinking and smoking, this study proposed a strategy based on the ecological perspective. Methods: The study applied multilevel moderated logistic regression analysis on nationally representative individual-level (2,046 9th grade adolescents) and neighborhood-level (92 geographic areas) data. Results: There was a positive association between risky neighborhood environments (e.g., rate of smoking, drinking, and presence of saloon/bars accommodation) and rates of adolescent drinking and smoking. Furthermore, the interplay between risky neighborhood environments and school adjustment pointed to a possible protective effect of a high level of school adjustment in predicting smoking and drinking among adolescents. Conclusion: Findings highlighted the importance of considering multiple neighborhood social contexts surrounding adolescents to understand their risky behavior. Furthermore, positive intervention strategies that focus on adolescents' positive development within the school domain may act to protect adolescents from harmful neighborhood environments.

The present study addresses the research frameworks and directions in the area of accounting information systems (AIS) by conducting a comprehensive survey of 76 A/S doctoral dissertations published between 1980 and 1990. The central research task is to identify the distinctive features of A/S that distinguish it from other disciplines. The procedure of the survey analysis is as follows. First, the A/S dissertations are categorized according to information systems (IS) and accounting. Then, some representative A/S research areas are documented, based on the IS/accounting domain combinations. The paper also attempts to discover the topical trends, supporting bases, and qualitative aspects of the A/S research. The survey reveals a : 1) the existence of economics as a supporting discipline, 2) the topical trend consistent with the evolution of IS, but restricted by the specific combinations of its parent domains, and 3) the need for intellectual rigor in the A/S research.

Smart grid is called it as a system of systems. There are diverse types of systems in smart grid environment. Therefore, one of key factors to achieve smart grid successfully is interoperability among diverse systems. To secure interoperability, smart grid operating system should be developed complied with standards in terms of the data representation and communication. Common Information Model (CIM) and OLE Process for Control - Unified Architecture (OPC-UA) are the representative international standards in smart grid domain. Each standard defines data representation and communication by providing common information model and the unified architecture. In this paper, we explain a smart grid platform that we have developed to comply with CIM and OPC-UA standards for secure interoperability among numerous legacy systems.

Analogous to Fourier analysis, wavelets is a versatile tool with very rich mathematical content and great potential for applications. Specially, wavelet transform uses localizable various mother wavelet functions in time-frequency domain. In this paper, discrimination analyses of acquired electrical current signals for each and mixed loads were tried by using Morlet wavelet transform. Their representative loads were classified as TV, DRY(Dryer), REF(Refrigerate), and FL(Fluorescent Lamp).

The structures have intrinsic uncertainties in analysis/design parameters contrary to the assumptions of perfect constant over the structural domain. The material and geometrical parameters are the exemplary ones. The influences of uncertainties in Young's modulus, which are the representative random design variables, on the structural response have been the center of focus in the realm of stochastic analysis. In this study, a formulation to obtain the response variability due to the randomness in the Poisson's ratio is given. In that the previous researches in the literature deal with the response variability due mainly to the uncertainty in the elastic modulus, with the results of this research, it can be asserted to obtain the response variability taking into consideration of uncertainties in all the material constants becomes possible.

In this paper, we present a consistent and efficient edit propagation method that is applied for light field data. Unlike conventional sparse edit propagation, the coherency between light field sub-aperture images is fully considered by utilizing light field consistency in the optimization framework. Instead of directly solving the optimization function on all light field sub-aperture images, the proposed optimization framework performs sparse edit propagation in the extended focus image domain. The extended focus image is the representative image that contains implicit depth information and the well-focused region of all sub-aperture images. The edit results in the extended focus image are then propagated back to each light field sub-aperture image. Experimental results on test images captured by a Lytro off-the-shelf light field camera confirm that the proposed method provides robust and consistent results of edited light field sub-aperture images.
