In mobile database environments, the efficient synchronization technique is required to maintain the consistency of replicated data because the same data can be replicated between so many different databases, In this paper, we propose a message digest based synchronization technique to maintain the consistency of replicated data between client databases and a server database in mobile environments. The proposed data synchronization technique has the advantage of generality aspect and extensibility aspect by using the tuple-based message digest output to detect the data conflicts.
Most of the existing algorithms try to disseminate the multimedia contents of internet service provider(ISP), without taking into account the needs and characteristics of specific websites including e-learning systems with web-based .educational contents. Sometimes the client must select the best one among the replicated repositories. However, this is a less reliable approach because clients' selections are made without prior information on server load capacity. In this paper we propose an agent system inspired by the need of improving QoS of delivering web-based educational multimedia contents without incurring long access delays. This agent system consists of three components, Analyzer, Knowledge Base, and Automaton embedded the capacity algorithm. It analyzes and investigates traffic information collected from individual replicated server by learners' requests, and selects a server which is available and is expected to provide the fastest latency time and the lowest loaded capacity, and achieves high performance by dynamic replicating web resources among multiple repositories.
The typical web cluster architecture consists of replicated real servers and a virtual server that routes client requests among the real servers. In this paper, we proposed an efficient dynamic load distribution method with load prediction for the web cluster systems. The virtual server transmit status request message to real servers in other to get load states. However the load states dose not accurate during load distribution, thus the virtual server predict the load status of real servers and assign a request of the client to the minimum loaded real server. The proposed distribution methods works not related to partial breakdown of real servers, thus the system works with high availability. We also show that the proposed distribution method preserve scalable property and improve the throughput through a set of simulations.

Supporting object group on distributed object system give merits such as load balancing, fault tolerance and high availability. In this paper, we describe a CORBA ORB that has been designed to support object group based on active replication. The ORB supports the operational model in which it uses the IIOP for communication between client and server and total ordered multicast protocol for consistency control among group members. And through extension of ORB, it provides functions required for support of object group. Since it provides transparency of object replication, the ORB is interoperable with the existing CORBA products. It make possible for existing server application to be easily extended to application supporting object group as adding interface functions which should be used for building applications is minimized. A prototype is implemented, and performance of the replicated object group is tested and compared with a single object invocation.

With the development of Web technologies, the demand for multimedia contents and network bandwidth is increasing explosively. In this situation, Caching, P2P and CDN are using for fast transmission with low traffic. In this research, we designed and implemented a redirection system for best replica selection where contents are distributed to multiple replicated web servers. This redirection system selects a close and least loaded replica and redirect a client's request to the replica. As a result, this system improved user-perceived performance. It is expected that this redirection system will contribute to the faster and more stable transmission of massive multimedia contents.
In the paper we propose an index method for XML streaming services, where a server broadcasts XML data to a lot of clients in wireless information systems. In order to control the access and tuning time of mobile clients, the proposed method constructs the XML stream through replicating partial index intermixed with parts of data. For this purpose, we propose a two-level tree structure for separating index and XML data into two parts: replicated vs. non-replicated. We analyze the performance of the proposed method with respect to access time and tuning time. With the analysis result, we derive the optimal level value.

Provision of higher throughput without sacrificing consistency guarantees in replication systems is a critical problem. In this paper, we propose a novel approach called Bidirectional Chain Replication (BCR) to improve throughput in traditional Chain Replication (CR) through better utilization of computing and communication resources of the chain. Unlike CR where the whole replicated data store is treated as a single unit, in BCR the replicated shared data at each server in the chain is split into two disjoint Logical Partitions ($LP_1$, $LP_2$). This forms two chains running concurrently on the same hardware in two opposite directions; the first chain ($CR_1$) exclusively manipulates data objects in $LP_1$, while the second chain ($CR_2$) exclusively manipulates data objects in $LP_2$, therefore, conflict is avoided and concurrency is guaranteed. The simultaneous employment of these two chains results in better utilization of hardware in the sense that the two chains can evenly share the workload, hence, throughput can be improved without sacrificing consistency. Experimental results showed an improvement of approximately 85% in throughput of BCR over CR.
Synchronization is the process of making replicated data on multiple devices be consistent, i.e., identical with each other. In Dec. 2000, major handheld computer manufacturers including Nokia, Ericsson, IBM published the SyncML protocol specification. In this paper, we describe the CNU SyncML server for PIMS(Personal Information Management System) service that we developed based on the SyncML specification. The server architecture and capabilities of the frames are presented along with the procedure of message processing by each frame. We put the CNU SyncML server to the conformance tests and interoperability tests to confirm its functionality. The session managing mechanism of the CNU SyncML server showed better performance than our previous implementations.
The failure of network and/or node on which server object is executed is a single point of system failure in the CORBA application. One of the possible ways to overcome such problem is to replicate server objects to several independent nodes. The replicated objects executing same tasks are called object group. In order to provide fault tolerance of server object, this paper proposes and implements new CORBA model that supports the object group based on active replication. The proposed model not only provides interoperability with existing CORBA application but also minimizes additional application interface required to support object group because it uses nop to exchange messages between client and server. And this paper extends IDL structure. Depending to application logic, it makes possible to prevent performance degradation caused by consistency maintenance. At present, this paper supports only active replication. But it can be easily extended to provide warm ancVor cold passive replication without modification of architecture required for active replication.
Many objects existing on wide area environments have the replication characteristics according to how to categorize using their own names or properties. From the clients' requests, the existing naming and trading services have not supported with the binding service for replicated solver object with the same service type. For this reason, we present an integrated model that can support the selection of replicated object and dynamic binding services on wide-area computing environments. This model suggests provides not only location management of replicated objects but also active binding service which enables to select a least-loaded object on the system to keep the balance of load between systems. In this purpose, constructing both the service plan and model for support solver object's binding with replication property on wide area computing environments has been researched. In this paper, we showed the test environment and analyzed the performance evaluation of client/server binding procedures via integrated binding service in federation model and verified our model under the condition to see whether load balance can be applied to our model. For the performance evaluation of suggested wide area integrated binding service federation model, evaluated the integrated binding service of each domain and analyzed the performance evaluation of process for non-replication object's under federation model environment. Also, we analyzed the performance evaluation of the federation model between domains for wide area environment. From the execution results, we showed the federation model provides lowers search-cost on the physical tree structure of network.
