Congenital myasthenic syndromes (CMSs) are rare genetic disorders characterized by weakness and fatigue resulting from impaired neuromuscular transmission. Genetic testing can confirm the diagnosis for some types of CMS; however, variations in genotype, clinical phenotypes, age at disease onset, and responses to treatment make diagnosis very difficult. Here we present two adult patients who had significant decremental responses in repetitive nerve stimulation testing and multi-minicore pathology, and who responded to treatment with a cholinesterase inhibitor.

PURPOSE: Muscle fatigue is a cause to change proprioception. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of calf muscle fatigue and visual control on postural balance during single-legged standing in healthy adults. METHODS: Nineteen healthy adults (male) were participated in this study (mean age: 24.36 years; mean height: 171.32 cm; mean weight: 64.58 kg). The postural balance (sway length, sway area, sway velocity of COG displacement) was measured by Balance Trainer System (BT4) in before and after calf muscle fatigue feeling in single legged stance. In this study, repetitive single-legged heel rise test was used to induce fatigue of the calf muscle. Paired t- test was used to compare the postural balance between before and after calf muscle fatigue. Data of subjects were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Level of significance was set to .05. RESULTS: The sway length, sway area, sway velocity of COG (center of gravity) displacement after calf muscle fatigue feeling was significantly increased compared to before calf muscle fatigue feeling during single leg standing both eye open and close conditions (p<.05). CONCLUSION: This study suggested that calf muscle fatigue feeling has affected on postural balance when standing one leg both eye open and close conditions and postural control was disturbed by muscle fatigue and visual feedback in single leg standing.
Occupational cumulative traumas (CTDs) are becoming one of leading ailments in industrialized worl $d^{(1.2)}$. The degree of muscle fatigue is important parameter to understand cause of occupational cumulative trauma disorders. To quantify degree of muscle fatigue, muscle EMG activity was measured during isometric and dynamic contractions(repetitive concentric/eccentric muscle contraction) and its analyzed data, such as RMS, median frequency, and median power were compared when the muscle was fresh and exhausted. When muscle become fatigue, it was observed that median frequency decreased and median power and RMS increased However, based on overall prolonged observation, median frequency increased and median power and RMS decreased. Therefore it was concluded that shifting patterns of RMS, median frequency, and median power values can be used as parameter to evaluate degree of muscle fatigue even in dynamic muscle contraction.
The purpose of this study was to define the effects of noise and background music on the trunk muscle fatigue during dynamic lifting and lowering tasks. Six healthy male subjects with no prior history of low back disorders participated in this study. The participants were exposed to two levels of background noise such as 40dB noise and 90dB noise and three levels of background music such as no music, slow music, and fast music. Six different combinations of background noise and background music were played while the participants were performing the lifting task at 15% level of Maximum Voluntary Contraction. Electromyography signals from six muscles were collected and fatigue levels were analyzed quantitatively. In results, the 90dB noise increased trunk muscle fatigue and slowed down the recovery. The trunk muscle fatigue was the lowest when the fast music was played for as background. After recovery, the 90dB noise increased trunk muscle fatigue. The trunk muscle fatigue was the lowest when the slow music was played for as background. The results can be useful to manage the cumulative fatigue of trunk muscles due to background noise and music during repetitive lifting and lowering tasks in industry.

Contact fatigue damages on the rail surface, such as head checks and squats are a growing problem. The fatigue cracks forming on the contact surface grow according to load and lubricating conditions and may end up breaking the rail. Rail fracture can be avoided by preventing the cracks from reaching the critical length. Therefore, the crack growth rate needs to be estimated precisely according to the conditions of the track and load to develop a maintenance plan against rail damages. Therefore, it is important to understand the mechanism of cracks initiation and growth on a rail due to repetitive rolling contact. In this study, we have investigated the crack growth behavior on the rail surface by using the twin-disc tests and the finite element analysis.
Unlike metallic materials, the importance of fatigue performance of concrete has been ignored. However, it is reported that environmental effects, if it cause deterioration, may increase the risk of fatigue failure under repeated loadings. In case of railroad bridges, the risk may increase due to highly periodic, repetitive, heavier nature of train load, which runs through the fixed passage called the track. Especially, when new material or structure is implemented for a main bridge member, experimental validation should be performed to avoid damage or failure due to unexpected behavior. In this paper, the fatigue performance of an IT girder is examined via a repeated loading test. The IT girder is a new type of a prestressed concrete (PSC) girder with two prestressed H-beams in the top of the girder, which provide additional sectional capacity, and it can be applied to the span longer than 30m which is a typical limit for a usual PSC girder. To obtain the fatigue performance, a 10m IT girder specimen is designed, and a repeated load test is performed by applying the cyclic load two million times. The fatigue performance of the girder is examined according to the Japanese and the CEB-FIB design codes. The fatigue test result shows that the IT girder satisfies both design codes.
The thermal shock and thermal fatigue test has been carried out to analyze the thermal characteristics of tool steels for hot forging and the effects of mechanical properties on this study have been investigated. The resistance to thermal shock is first of all a matter of good toughness and ductility. Therefore, a proper hot-work tool steel should be characterized by high fracture strength and high temperature toughness. Based on these results, some critical temperature($T_{fracture}$) at which fracture occur can be measured to characterize the thermal resistance of the materials. During thermal fatigue tests, the thermal fatigue cracks occur because of the repetitive heating and cooling of the die surface and the thermal fatigue damage was evaluated by analyzing different number of cycles to failure. The results showed that the resistance to thermal shock and thermal fatigue were found to be favoured by high hot tensile strength and high hot hardness, and thermal resistance of SKD61 was superior to that of ESC, SKT4 and this was caused by higher mechanical properties of SKD61.
During braking of railway vehicles the repetitive thermal shock leads to thermal cracks on disc surface, and the lifetime of brake disc is dependent on the number of trimming works for removing these thermal cracks. Many tries for development of high heat resistant brake disc to extend the disc life and to warrant reliable braking performance has been continued. In present study, we carry out the computational fatigue analysis for thermal fatigue test in three candidate materials which were made to develop new high heat resistant material. Using FEM, we simulate thermal fatigue test in three candidate materials and conventional disc material. We then estimate the number of cycle to thermal crack initiation based on data from mechanical fatigue tests, and the results are compared with each material. For each material, the correction factor for $N_{f-40}$ which is the number of cycles when crack over $40{\mu}m$ was observed in thermal fatigue test is decided. From this study, we can verify the performance of thermal fatigue test system and suggest a qualitatively comparative method for heat resistance by FEM analysis of thermal shocking phenomenon.
Inspection works are mainly carried out with the help of human sensory organs and are relatively simple and repetitive, so that the workers easily become to feel fatigue and monotony, and their mental activity levels attenuate. Consequently, during the work time, it is natural that various lighting conditions around the workplaces may have in-fluence on work performance. This study aimed to analyze cortical fatigue of inspection workers. Thus, an inspection work was simulated on a computer monitor under various lighting conditions, and CFF, EEG, EOG, and HRV were analyzed. According to the results, fatigue symptoms turned up about $60{\sim}90$ minutes after the onset of the work. The work performance also decreased when the fatigue symptoms due to lighting conditions turned up. The variations of fatigue and work performance were affected by illuminators, illumination levels, or interaction of those two factors. The spiral fluorescent lamp seemed improper to the inspection work, because the work performance under that condition was lower than under any other illuminators.
