  • Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), a non-parametric productivity analysis tool, has become an accepted approach for assessing efficiency in a wide range of fields. Despite of its extensive applications and merits, some features of DEA remain bothersome. DEA offers no guideline about to which direction relatively inefficient DMUs improve since a reference set of an inefficient DMU, several efficient DMUs, hardly provides a stepwise path for improving the efficiency of the inefficient DMU.In this paper, we aim to show that DEA can be used to evaluate the efficiency of life insurance companies while overcoming its limitation with the aids of machine learning methods.

  • 압전 토오크 센서를 사용하는 고감도 자력계를 제작하였다. 미소진폭의 진동자기장을 자화된 시료에 인가할 때 생기는 토오크를 압전소자로 측정하였다. 그 토오크는 시료의 자화에 비례한다. 포화자 화의 측정오차는 기존치에 대하여 5% 이내였다.

A Study of WiMAX Security threats and Their Solution

  • In this study, we have discussed and illustrated the security issues of WiMAX technology including vulnerabilities, threats and some security solution. Both physical layer and data link layer have been considered. Jamming is a major threat in physical layer, and in data link layer we study an authentication problem and see the problem of some unencrypted messages leading to lack of confidentiality. Some of these vulnerabilities have been solved in the recent amendment of 802.16 and some still remain. Moreover WiMax is a new technology yet.

  • Linear dunes are the most ubiquitous of all desert dune types ( Lancaster, 1982: Pye and Tsoar, 1990; Bristow et al., 2000) and occur as aeolian bedforms that cover no less than 40 % of the world's desert sand dune areas (Bullard et al., 1995). Despite their omnipresence, however, their origin and long-term development remain inadequately understood (Tseo, 1993; Bullard et al., 1995; Bristow et al., 2000, Wang et al., 2002). (omitted)

  • The adaptive control of flexible joint manipulator is the focus of this paper. The full order flexible joint manipulator dynamic system does not allow the determination of a feedback linearization control as for rigid manipulators. This drawback is overcome by a model order reduction based on a singular perturbation strategy. The full order flexible joint manipulator dynamic model is adopted for derivation of the adaptive control law to damp out the elastic oscillations at the joints. It is shown that the joint position error will converge to zero asymptotically and that other signals remain bounded without precise knowledge of parameters of the manipulator and its joint flexibility.

  • This paper presents a one cycle R&D project regarding the large inertia platform servo control system. The steps followed the rather orthodox procedure. A serial double rate-loop was closed with a position loop, and acceleration velocity anticipatory compensations were designed in the forward path. Some appropriate compensation devices were utilized for the signal processing as well as for the better control quality. Simulations and experimental tests were repeated, and satisfactory performances were observed. However, frequency domain uncertainties inherent to the large structures still remain as an expertise supported subject.

  • Nasal septoplasty is often required to correct a cosmetic deformity, which is a common reason for patients to present to a plastic surgeon. If nasal septoplasty is insufficient, a residual deformity or nasal obstruction may remain after surgery. Even if the nasal septum is corrected to an appropriate position, nasal congestion could be exacerbated if the turbinate on the other side is not also corrected. Therefore, appropriate treatment is required based on the condition of the turbinates. Herein, we survey recent trends in treatment and review previous research papers on turbinoplasty procedures that can be performed alongside nasal septoplasty.

  • Fault tolerant control algorithm fer heteropolar magnetic bearings are presented. This fault tolerant control utilizes grouping of currents as C-cores in order to isolate magnetic fluxes. Hardware requirements to maintain fault tolerant control are reduced since decoupling chokes are not required in this control scheme. The currents supplied to each pole are redistributed, if some coils (ail suddenly, such that the resultant magnetic forces should remain invariant through coil failure events. (omitted)
