  • End-to-end congestion control mechanism have been critical to the robustness and stability of the Internet. Most of today's Internet traffic is TCP, and we expect this to remain so in the future. TCP/IP is the intermediate transport layer candidate for today's applications. TCP uses an adaptive window-based flow control. The congestion avoidance and control algorithms deployed by TCP aims at using the available network bandwidth. This paper compares different congestion control policies, and proposes the new design mechanism for future public networks

  • The definition of the program control is introduced on the theory of the basis of the first integrals SDE system. That definition allows constructing the program control gives opportunity to stochastic system to remain on the given dynamic variety. The program control is considered in terms of dynamically invariant for stochastic process.

  • Deposition to the sea surface is one of ozone's principal loss mechanisms (Galbally and Roy, 1980; Levy et al., 1985; Kramm, 1995). However, since complicated physical and chemical processes are involved, large uncertainties remain in evaluating this loss mechanism that need to be better characterized. In this study we attempted to explore possible causes that give rise to large variability of ozone deposition velocity in terms of wind speed and chemical reactivity in the aqueous-phase film. • The vesicular glutamate transporter (VGLUT) transports glutamate into pre-synaptic vesicles. Three isoforms of VGLUT have been identified in humans, but their functional differences remain largely unknown. EAT-4 is the only homologue of human VGLUT in C. elegans. Here we report that mutants of eat-4 exhibit hyperforaging behavior and that each of the isoforms of human VGLUT functionally rescues the defects in eat-4 worms.

  • Rupture or laceration of the aorta is a more common result of nonpenetrating traumatic injury than is generally appreciated. If the lesion is promptly diagnosed, a appropriate surgical treatment may be life-saving. Diagnosis may be difficult and at times the rupture may remain clinically silent for variable period.< A 34 - year old male patient had sustained steering wheel injury to his chest during automobile accident 8 weeks prior to admission. The diagnosis of traumatic aneurysm of the aorta was delayed as he was asymptomatic. Surgical repair of false aneurysm of the descending aorta was successfully performed by partial cardiopulmonary bypass through the femoral artery and vein.

  • Fault tolerant control algorithm for heteropolar magnetic bearings are presented. This fault tolerant control utilizes grouping of currents as C-cores in order to isolate magnetic fluxes. Hardware requirements to maintain fault tolerant control are reduced since decoupling chokes are not required in this control scheme. The currents supplied to each pole are redistributed, if some coils fail suddenly, such that the resultant magnetic forces should remain invariant through coil failure events. Load capacity before magnetic saturation is reduced through coil failures while maintaining the same magnetic forces before and after failure.

  • The extent of biological diversity being revealed by molecular techniques accentuates the need to develop methods to isolate and culture the large numbers of microorganisms that remain to be studied. The discovery and characterization of novel microorganisms will provide information useful in understanding microbial ecosystems and have the potential to lead to new products for the biotechnology industry. In this review, the use of innovative techniques and exploration of unusual ecosystems, that have begun to address the challenge of isolating the "uncultured" members of the microbial population, are examined.

  • A whole genome analysis for monitoring specific changes in gene expression, using microarrays or proteome profiling of the same, are the two tools that have already revolutionized current approaches for studying disease. These methods are particularly important in cancer research as there are many overexpressed genes, and their products remain uncharacterized. This article presents a general overview of these technologies and their applications for studying cancer.

  • The detailed clinical characteristics of unilateral moyamoya disease (MMD) have not been fully elucidated. It has been reported that some patients with unilateral MMD progress to bilateral involvement, while others remain with the unilateral variant In this series, we present a case of unilateral MMD that progressed to bilateral involvement over the course of just one month.
