  • This article is to study Dopo, man's traditional robe, which was worn by courtiers and scholars in Yi dynasty (AD 1392-1910). This article deals with its history and transition according to relative documents available, and presents its construction method with reference to relics. It is recorded that Dopo was first worn about the middle of the time of Yi dynasty. Dopo, however, seems to have its origin in the robe of Koguryo dynasty (BC 37-AD 668). Dopo was an ordinary robe to court officials, whereas Confucian scholars wore it as an official uniform or a ritual robe. ft was a long over-coat with V-neck line, and, round and wide sleeves. Dopo was so long that its edge reached wearer's ankels. One of the widest sleeves of relics was 58cm in size. Another unique characteristics Dopo had, were that its back cloth splited in two on center line, which was fully covered and added with-another cloth called 'Jeonsam'. Accordingly, a cloth-30cm in width and 30 yards in length-was needed to make Dopo. Since the reform of 1894 it was prohibited to wear, and then was replaced with Durumagi, a strait collar and narrow-sleeved robe.

Clothing made of fur that was combined with satin damask, silk gossamer [綃] were frequent gift, and a sable coat was a symbol of high-ranking clothes. Another clothing's materials were satin damask, sheer fabric gauze [羅], cotton, tabby with silk and ramie [紵絲]. The indigo color of King Seongjong's reign was recommended not for luxury. Historical research factors for indigo clothing gift were extracted from noblemen's relics. Danryeong and jigryeong are shaped of narrow sleeves and trapezoid gusset pleated in and out. Sable coat can consist of satin damask outshell, sable lining, and double oblique collar. Heohyung are presumed types of short sleeved fur vests. Ieom can be reconstructed with an indigo fabric outshell and sufficient fur. Dapho has gusset pleated wide and narrow. As additional gifts, the shapes of yoseon-cheopri and cheopri were analyzed. We selected a commercial fabric similar to relics and an indigo powder dyeing method to remedy a lack of traditional material. The reconstructed data were presented as flat drawings and samples.

  • Placing itself in position of spectators, museum should be able to explain to them what meaning the medium of exhibi-tion has and what role it has to paly. For that, it is an indispensable process to plan an archite-ctural environment and exhibition presentation suitable to the exhibition which are main objects of museum, but as a result of its being reglected by this time, it has been recog-nized as a tigid and formal place closed and estranged from the general public. The authoritarian aspect of museum resulted from its sys-tem negative to the people of our country, while its services have been developed as a place in which one understand a country most quicky. Recently, however, as a movement of participating in the newly changing general trend, the contest of design of the new National Museum was announced publicaly worldwide introducing the Museografia method of planning exhibition presentation after thorough analysis of exhibition, which made it known that an importance is intensely put on the en-vironment of relics and their exhibition. The purpose of the study is to analogize the planning prin-ciple of the interior design of the exhibition room of sculp-tures, placing emphasis on the exhibition presentation intro-ducing Museografia as a way of examining the problems and solving them concerning the existing standardized uni-form method of displaying exhibition.

  • The objective of this study is to find out geomorphological characteristics of historical ruins where people produced and consumed large jar coffins excavated in the Yeongsan river basin using the map of old drainage network to restore distribution network. For this purpose, we chose the 21 consumption sites. The results are as follows. First of all, large jar coffins(relics, 47.6% of total) in the Yeongsan River basin were located in Sampo stream basin, almost all of them were located within the Yeongsan River main stream basin and Sampo stream basin. Also, distance from all consumption site to river was within about 2km. Therefore, it is thought that the all consumption sites are located at the place of the gift of nature that was very favorable to water transport of jar coffins. The results of this study may be used as basic data for research of cultural relics in the Yeongsan river basin.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the location characteristics in which 'large Jar coffin' (hereinafter referred to as 'Jar coffin') distributed in the Yeongsan river basin area in Jeonnam province by means of topographic analysis. 75 Jar coffins (74.3%) in 19 relics (90.5% of total) were found in hill and 26 Jar coffins (25.7%) of two consumption relics (9.5%) were found in floodplain. Among them, 34 (45.3% of total) and 41 (54.7% of total) Jar coffins were found in the Crest surface and Sideslope of hills, respectively. In particular, 26 (34.7%) Jar coffins are mostly located in the Crest flat. This result implies that people at that might be consider the river inundation, and mostly choose hill rather than floodplain when building the Jar coffin. therefore amongtherefore among micro-landform units of the hill, it seems that the 'Crest flat' was the preferred place for the building the Jar coffin at that time.
