  • It needs a skillful experience to design and implement sequential circuits with a relay circuit or LD (Ladder Diagram). One makes out the operation of relay contacts sequentially in case of analyzing a relay circuit or LD. Still more, the design and analyzing of a complex relay circuit or LD are difficult. In this paper, we propose the EMFG (Extended Mark Graph) representation on relay circuits and LD.

  • We propose how to translate relay circuits to the EMFGs(Extended Mark Flow Graphs) formally and analyze the original one by using the mark flow of it. Firstly, the concepts of the output condition, the output-on condition and the output-off condition are introduced in the relay circuits. These can be used to find the structure and the operation of respective relay outputs but the sequential operations of them cannot be obtained from these. Secondly, a relay circuit is translated to the corresponding EMFG as the all output-on conditions and all output-off conditions of it are translated to EMFGs. For the adequate translation, the condition arc and the concepts of the generation transition and the degeneration transition are introduced, and the duality for the simplification of the result. Thirdly, we analyze the operation of the original circuit by analyzing the mark flow of the resulting EMFG. We can achieve easy and fast analysis based on the EMFG's operation algorithm. Finally, we apply these to the relay circuit for an electric furnace and analyze its operation with the mark flow of the resulting EMFG. The formal translation from relay circuits to EMFGs makes the analysis easy so that these results can be used to design, modelling, the fault detection and the maintenance.

  • This paper deals with an experimental study for Klippon reiay in Cheju-Heanam HVDC system Klippon relay was troubled many times for years, and Klippon relay's fault caused the HVDC system trip. So for several years, these reasons of Klippon relay fault were investigated. The malfunction of Klippon relay in Cheju-Haenam HVDC system has been caused by the incoming of random surge(current source and voltage source). This paper has stu야ed the theoretic리 analysis and experimental study of Klippon relay, and the solutions against the problems were suggested according to their causes. Among the problems, grounding problem was removed by one-point earth connection and by modification of grounding circuit. The effects of inrush current was removed by inserting the blocking diodes by series in Klippon relay circuits. Finally, The over-voltage induced on Klippon relay, by a relay excitation coil, was removed by inserting a free-wheeling diode in Parallel with the excitation coil.

중계 프로토콜을 위한 TDMA 기저대역 중계모뎀의 최적 설계 (An Optimal Design of a TDMA Baseband Modem for Relay Protocol)

  • 본 논문은 무선 개인영역네트워크 환경에서 중계 프로토콜 기능을 가진 시분할다중접속방식(TDMA)의 적응형 기저대역 중계모뎀을 설계한 내용을 기술한다. 설계한 기저대역 중계모뎀은 마스터 동기 신호에 의해 제어되며 최대 14홉의 중계 네트워크를 구성할 수 있다. 효과적인 데이터 중계 통신을 위해 단일포트 메모리에서 우선권을 사용하여 내부 버퍼 설계를 최적화하였다. 그리고 메모리 버스 제어기는 합성된 게이터 수를 최소화시킬 수 방법으로 설계하였다. 협대역 TDMA 중계 통신의 동기 기능을 구현하기 위하여 네트워크 슬롯 동기회로와 프레임 동기회로를 분리하여 게이트수를 줄였다. 이 방법을 사용하여 9만 게이트의 Xilinx FPGA XC6SLX9에서 약 37%(34,000게이트)를 사용하였다. 32비트 싱크워드를 사용한 1024비트 프레임의 통신 수신율은 약 96.4%이다. 설계된 기저대역 중계모뎀을 사용하여 14홉의 중계에서 측정한 최대전송지연시간은 230.4ms이다.

  • The failure and erosion of relay contacts mainly depend on the presence of particles deposited on the contact surface in various contaminated atmospheres. In this paper, the effects of sea water and circuit parameters on the arcing and quenching of magnet relay contacts are studied. The sea water pollutants of relay contact surface have led to increase the arcing numbers on making contact, and the mean arc durations on breaking contacts. Moreover, the maximum surge voltage and mean arc duration between relay contacts are also varied significantly by the circuit parameters. The effects of the spark quenching circuits using condenser of diode on the arcing of contacts are also discussed.

  • TCMS(Train Control & Management System) is the management system of train information which intensively control, monitor and test the main on-board equipments including propulsion/brake unit by the serial transmission line. TCMS reduces interface circuits and number of train lines by the software logic and utilizing serial communication method. This paper describes the method of powering and braking control by TCMS software logic, in comparison with the powering/braking control by conventional relay logic/hardwire circuits, and the software logic was verified by simulation test with TCMS simulator.

Security Performance Analysis of DF Cooperative Relay Networks over Nakagami-m Fading Channels

  • In this paper, we investigate the security performance for cooperative networks over Nakagami-m fading channels. Based on whether the channel state information (CSI) of wiretap link is available or not, optimal relay selection (ORS) and suboptimal relay selection (SRS) schemes are considered. Also, multiple relays combining (MRC) scheme is considered for comparison purpose. The exact and asymptotic closed-form expressions for secrecy outage probability (SOP) are derived and simulations are presented to validate the accuracy of our proposed analytical results. The numerical results illustrate that the ORS is the best scheme and SRS scheme is better than MRC scheme in some special scenarios such as when the destination is far away from the relays. Furthermore, through asymptotic analysis, we obtain the closed-form expressions for the secrecy diversity order and secrecy array gain for the three different selection schemes. The secrecy diversity order is closely related to the number of relays and fading parameter between relay and destination.

  • Due to the introduction of various types of dispersed generations (DGs) with larger capacity in a power distribution system, the short-circuit current is expected to be increased, which more requires for the effective fault current limiting methods. As one of the promising countermeasures, the superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) has been noticed. However, the decreased fault current by SFCL affects the operation of the overcurrent relay (OCR), representative protective device in a power distribution system. In this paper, the operation of the overcurrent relay due to the application of a SFCL in a power distribution system with DG linked by its bus line was analysed through the short-circuit tests. To analyze the effect of the SFCL application in a power distribution system with DG, the experimental simulated circuits were designed and the short-circuit tests for the power distributed system assembled with the DG, the OCR and the SFCL were carried out. Through the analysis on the short-circuit tests, the application of the SFCL in a power distribution system with DG could be confirmed to be contributed to the operational improvement of overcurrent relay.

  • In this paper, characteristics of wireless power transfer (WPT) systems using magnetically coupled resonance scheme with relay coils are investigated and modeled. Especially, asymmetric frequency splitting characteristics in over-coupled region of WPT with relays are measured and accurately modeled. Transmitter, receiver, and relay coils are modeled with R, L, C equivalent circuits. Using these circuit models and mutual inductances between coils, a WPT system is described with a linear matrix equation. For under-coupled region, a matrix is simplified considering only mutual inductances between adjacent coils. An analytical transfer characteristic of WPT system vs. distance is extracted using an inverse matrix that is acquired by Gauss elimination method for the simplified matrix. For over-coupled region, a matrix considering mutual inductances between non-adjacent coils is used to predict a frequency splitting characteristics accurately. A 6.3MHz WPT system with relay coils is implemented and measured. An accuracy of the model is investigated by comparing the output of the model with the measured results.

The Implementation of Group Delay Equalizer and Its Performance Evaluation for Point-to-Point Digital Radio Relay System

  • The implementation of IF group delay equalizer and its performance are presented for radio relay system applications, and measured results are in good agreement with the simulated ones based upon analytical formulations. For waveguide filter of 40㎒ channel spacing, equalized delay accuracy of about +/- 2.0nsec can be obtained only by constructing 4 stage delay circuits, which provides good performance in system BER curves compared with no filter case, and the difference is less than 1.0㏈ at $10^{-12}$ BER. So this scheme with simple hardware design can be used for correcting the distorted group delays mainly caused by wavegiude filters. To evaluate the designed group delay equalizer, various simulated and experimental results are shown here in conjunction with STM-1 signal of co-channel 64-QAM digital radio relay system.
