There are a variety of microorganisms in the animal intestine, and it has been known that they play important roles in the host such as suppression of potentially pathogenic microorganisms, modulation of the gut immunity. In addition, the gut microbiota and the livestock growth performance have long been known to be related. Therefore, we evaluated the interrelation between the growth performance and the gut microbiome of the pigs from 3 different farms, with pigs of varied ages ready to be supplied to the market. When pigs reached average market weight of 118 kg, the average age of pigs in three different farms were < 180 days, about 190 days, and > 200 days, respectively. Fecal samples were collected from pigs of age of 70 days, 100 days, 130 days, and 160 days. The output data of the 16S rRNA gene sequencing by the Illumina Miseq platform was filtered and analyzed using Quantitative Insights into Microbial Ecology (QIIME)2, and the statistical analysis was performed using Statistical Analysis of Metagenomic Profiles (STAMP). The results of this study showed that the gut microbial communities shifted as pigs aged along with significant difference in the relative abundance of different phyla and genera in different age groups of pigs from each farm. Even though, there was no statistical differences among groups in terms of Chao1, the number of observed operational taxonomic units (OTUs), and the Shannon index, our results showed higher abundances of Bifidobacterium, Clostridium and Lactobacillus in the feces of pigs with rapid growth rate. These results will help us to elucidate important gut microbiota that can affect the growth performance of pigs.
This research was performed to estimate the influence of relative light intensity, planting density, growth period on the growth of fresh and dry weight of the stem and branches, and root in the pretreatment transplanting bed. 1. The growth of fresh and dry weight of the stem and branches per seedling varied in the order of 63%>100%>37%>19% in relative light intensity, and increased with decrease of planting density, and grew highly during the period from May to June. The contribution rates to the growth of fresh and dry weight of the stem and branches were 49.4% and 39.6% in shading treatment, and 4.3% and 6.4% in planting density, and 34.2% in growth period respectively. Of the three factors, that is, shading, density and period, all of the interactions between two factors, and among the three factors in the growth of fresh and dry weight of stem and branches were significant. The growth of fresh and dry weight of root per seedling increased with light intensity and decreased with increase of density. The best growth of root, showed during the period from May to June in fresh weight, but during the period from July and August in dry weight of root. For the three factors, that is, shading, density and growth period, all the interactions between any two factors, and among the three factors in the growth of fresh and dry weight of root were significant.
The definition of cancer, its diagnosis and its prognosis all depend upon description of growth. To the layman a synonym for cancer is a "growth". There are no quantitative terms for the description of growth or growth rate in clinical use. There has been no attempt to assign values that would define "rapidly" or "slowly" growing. Estimates of growth potentiality are implied in the descriptive phrases "poorly differentiated" or "well differentiated", "highly malignant" or "low grade malignancy". and in systems of grading. These qualifying terms represent a personal impression, clinically useful in prognosis, but relative in nature. They do not lend themselves to uniform application or precise measurement for purpose of comparison. Growth is related to size and time. The volume of tumor depends upon the duration of the period of growth and the rate of growth. If the interval and change in volume are known. the average growth rate can be determined. If the growth rate is determined, and assumed to be constant., the duration of a given tumor and the time of inception can be estimated. The commonest concept of the origin of cancer is that as a result of a mutation involving a single cell, succeeding divisions of cells establish a colony with the characteristics recognizable as cancer. If the growth rate of the hypothetical tumor were constant it could be described in terms of "tumor volume doubling time". In the department of thoracic surgery of St. Mary hospital in Catholic Medical College, a clinical evaluation for the growth rate, degree of malignancy, resectability and prognosis was done on a total 24 cases of primary bronchogenic carcinoma which contour was significant on the chest X-ray film as possible estimating the tumor volume doubling time. The following results were obtained: 1. In the cases of 6.0cm or more in diameter of minor size at operation the resectability rate was lower and in the cases of 60 days or more in the tumor or volume doubling time the resectability rate was higher. 2. If differentiation of cancer cells was lower graded in tissue pathology, the tumor volume was shorter and the resectability rate was lower. 3. The tumor volume doubling time of the primary bronchogenic carcinoma occured more over 60 years of age was slightly shorter than under 60 years of age. 4. The tumor size at operation was more important to evaluate the survival time and prognosis than the tumor volume doubling time because the tumor growth was not always constant, we presume.mor volume doubling time because the tumor growth was not always constant, we presume.
Predicting fatigue life by numerical methods was almost impossible in the field of rubber materials. One of the reasons is that there is not obvious fracture criteria caused by nonstandardization of material and excessively various way of mixing process. But, tearing energy as fracture factor can be applied to a rubber-like material regardless of different types of fillers, relative to other fracture factors and the crack growth process of rubber could be considered as the whole fatigue failure process by the existence of potential defects in industrial rubber components. This characteristic of fatigue failure could make it possible to predict the fatigue life of rubber components in theoretical way. FESEM photographs of the surface of industrial rubber components were analyzed for verifying the existence and distribution of potential defects. For the prediction of fatigue life, theoretical way of evaluating tearing energy for the general shape of test-piece was proposed. Also, algebraic expression for the prediction of fatigue life was derived from the rough cut growth rate equation and verified by comparing with experimental fatigue lives of dumbbell fatigue specimen in various loading condition.
Seventy-two crossbred gilts of approximately 33 kg initial weight were used in this study. The gilts were randomly assigned into three groups. The three dietary treatments were basal diet only (control group), basal diet+10 mg/kg lead, and basal diet+10 mg/kg lead+0.5% particulate montmorillonite (PM). The results showed that the addition of lead to the diet decreased significantly the body weight and feed efficiency, but PM could restore body weight and feed efficiency of gilts compared to the Pb exposure group. There were no significant differences in weights of ovaries and uteri with addition of either lead or PM to the diet. Supplementing the lead in the diet of gilts also significantly increased the concentration of lead in blood, decreased circulating lutenizing hormone (LH) and estradiol (E$_2$) levels in serum, the addition of PM to the diet effectively adsorbed and lowered lead concentration in the blood. These data suggested that lead disrupts the signals between the hypothalamus and pituitary gland in gilts, and possibly suppressed the secretion of relative growth hormone and sex hormone. On the other hand, PM may ameliorate Pb toxicity in pigs.

$Al_2O_3$/Al composite was produced by the infiltration of molten Al Into $Al_2$O$_3$ preform at 900-$1200^{\circ}C$, The process was accelerated by spreading borosilicate glass powder onto the interface between Al powder compact and $Al_2O_3$ preform. Melt infiltration initialed after incubation period, and the growth of infiltration was observed to be linearly propotional with time. The major components of the composite are $Al_2O_3$ and Al with a trace of Si which is remained from borosilicate, the reaction accelerator. Relative density of the composite increased with the particle size of $Al_2O_3$ but decreased with infiltration temperature. As infiltration temperature increases from room to $950^{\circ}C$ higher strength and fracture toughness were obtained.

Relative density and microstructure of the pressureless sintered TiC-$TiB_2$ composite has been studied. The maximum sintered density was 95% and the critical amounts of sintering aids were 1 wt% Fe and 3 wt% Ni. It was found that TiC matrix phase inhibited effectively grain growth of the dispersed $TiB_2$ phase. The TEM investigation reveals that the Ni-rich precipitates were solidified from the liquid phase, confirmed by the presence of the waved and/or step phase boundaries. The precipitates also acts as the origin of the dislocation formation in the matrix phases.
The three Korean wheat cultivars with different plant types; the erect, the middle and the creeping growth habit, were studied for their utilization to solar radiation, temperature changes on the furrow and to provide optimum planting space for producing the high yield in 2003. The average solar radiation rate was lowest for creeping type ($39.2\%$) and highest for erect type ($75.8\%$) The correlation coefficient between the coverage rate and the solar transmission rate was r = 0.8624 which was significant at $5\%$ level. The relative growth of the plant, tiller rate and leaf size was increased in the erect and the middle type at lower plant density, while no change on plant growth at creeping type regardless of plant density. The increase of leaf size in the lower plant density was due to longer flag and the first leaf than those of other plant types. The temperature on the furrow of growing plants was changed by the canopy. The changes in temperature pattern on the furrow according to plant types during winter season was different compared to the non plant ground. The temperature of the nonplant ground was the lowest due to solar reduction increasing the amount of cool air flowing in the furrow.
Purpose - There have been not enough studies on the ways customer Moment of Truth(MOT) activities are structured along with consumption chain and their influences as well as the relative influences of service quality at Moment of Truth on customer performance. Therefore, customer service needs needed at Moment of Truth may differ depending on whether these distribution services are at introduction-growth stages or maturity-decline stage already, but there is no study which illustrates this. Research design, data, and methodology - This study selects VoIP and IPTV as the household telecommunication and distribution services at introduction-growth stages as well as high speed internet and wire telephone as those at maturity-decline stages. Then it identifies which experiences that customers have at Moment of Truth by each service as well as the influences related to what the customers consider as important. Results - As the result of demonstration with the target of 858 respondents, customers' experiences and requests differ at Moment of Truth. For service quality, what takes the positive roles in customer performance includes corporeality and certainty for the services at introduction-growth stages as well as reliability, sympathy, and mutuality for those at maturity-decline stages. Conclusions - Implications of these results as well as further directions for study are suggested.
A bacterial strain which formed a distinct colony on agar plate containing naphthalene as a vapor phase and grew well ina liquid minimal medium was isolated and identified as Alcaligenes sp. A111. Optimum temperature and pH for the cultivation of Alcaligenes sp. A111 were 30$\cir$C and 7.0, respectively. Cell growth increased dramatically from 12 hours after inoculation and revealed a stationary phase at about 48 hours. Relative growth rate ($\mu$')increased hyperbolically depending on the conceration of naphthalene up to 500 ppm and reached to the maximum value pf 2.8/day, but $\mu$' didn't change within a range of 500~4000 ppm naphthalene. NH$_{4}$Cl or NH$_{4}$NO$_{3}$ was preferrd as a nitrogen source and a P : N ratio by weight og 6 : 1 was favorable to cell growth. Alcaligenes sp. A111 utilized the intermediates of degradation of naphthalene and showed tolerance to benzene, toluene, and octane. therefore, it is suggested that Alcaligenes sp. A111 could be effectively used for the biological treatment of wastewater containing naphthalene in the presence of some aromatic compounds.
