Steel reinforced concrete (SRC) columns, which are widely employed in high-rise buildings, exhibit particular time-dependent behavior due to creep and shrinkage of the concrete, and this behavior may cause problems related to serviceability and structural stability. SRC columns also exhibit a time-dependent, cross-sectional relative humidity distribution that differs from reinforced concrete (RC) columns, due to the presence of an inner steel plate, which interferes with the moisture diffusion of concrete. This differential moisture distribution of SRC columns may reduce the drying shrinkage and the drying creep as contrasted with RC columns. Therefore, we propose that the differential moisture distribution be taken into account to accurately predict SRC column shortening.
In order to develop materials with a low environmental load for restoring the destroyed forest, seven types of wood-concrete hybrid laminated materials were manufactured with four softwoods, three hardwoods and concrete, and the effect of wood density on bending creep property was investigated. The bending creep curves showed a shape to considerably increase at the upper right side, and the curves were found to show a linear behavior beyond about 30 min - 1 hour, as behaviors of solid woods and wood-based materials. The initial compliances of wood-concrete hybrid-laminated materials decreased with an increase in the wood density, and those values showed 0.9 - 1.2 times of the concrete one. The creep compliances of hybrid laminated materials showed very low values, which were 0.4 - 0.8 times of the concrete ones. The relative creep were very low with a range from 8.2% to 17.0% range, which were 0.3 - 0.7 times of the concrete ones. These results indicate that these materials can be applied for restoring the destroyed forest to reduce creep deformation of the conventional concrete materials by hybrid-laminating concrete and woods.

Surplus water inside a concrete other than moisture that is used for hydration of the cement affects the physical properties of the concrete (modulus of elasticity, compressive strength, drying shrinkage, and creep) by drying. Changes in temperature and humidity inside a concrete has correlation with the movement speed and reaction rate of deterioration factors such as carbon dioxide and chloride ions. In this study, comparison was performed between temperature and relative humidity inside the concrete and meteorological data for exposure environment through measurement at the site for two years. Surface temperature of the concrete (depth 1cm) was measured higher by 6℃ during the summers, while it was measured lower by 2℃ during the winters due to solar radiation, wind, and radiation cooling. As for relative humidity, change was large in the depth of 1cm, while more than 85% was maintained in the depth of 10cm.
Steel reinforced concrete(SRC) columns, which have been widely employed in high-rise buildings, exhibit a time-dependent behavior because of creep and shrinkage of concrete. This long-term behavior may cause a serious serviceability problem in structural systems, so it is very important to predict the deformation due to creep and shrinkage of concrete. However, it was found from the previous experimental studies that the long-term deformation of SRC columns was quite dissimilar from that of RC columns. A new method is required to quantitatively predict the long-term deformation of SRC columns. In this study, the causes of the discrepancy between the behaviors of RC and SRC columns are investigated and discussed. SRC columns exhibit a time-dependent relative humidity distribution in a cross section differently from that of reinforced concrete(RC) columns owing to the presence of a inner steel plate, which interferes with the moisture diffusion of concrete. This relative humidity distribution may reduce the drying shrinkage and the drying creep in comparison with RC columns. Therefore it is suggested that the differential moisture distribution should be taken into account in order to reasonably predict column shortening of SRC columns.
The reasonable prediction of time-dependent deformation of prestressed concrete(PSC) box girder bridges is very important for accurate construction as well as good serviceability. The long-term behavior is mostly influenced by the probabilistic characteristic of creep and shrinkage. This paper presents a method of statistical analysis and sensitivity analysis of creep and shrinkage effects in PSC box been taken into account - model uncertainty, parameter variation and environmental condition. The statistical and sensitivity analyses are performed by using the numerical simulation of Latin Hypercube sampling. For each sample, the time-dependent structural analysis is performed to produce response data, which are then statistically analyzed. The probabilistic prediction of the confidence limits on long-term effects of creep and shrinkage is then expressed. Three measure are examined to quantify the sensitivity of the outputs of each of the input variables. These are rank correlation coefficient(RCC), partical rank correlation coefficient(PRCC) and standardiozed rank regression coefficient(SRRC) computed on the ranks of the observations. Three creep and shrinkage models - i. e., ACI model. CEB-FIP model and the model in Korea Highway Bridge Specification - are studied. The creep model uncertainy factor and the relative humidity appear to be the most dominant factors with regard to the model output uncertainty.

This study deals with cracking control of concrete deck in steel-concrete composite bridges according to the concrete slab casting sequences. In correlation studies between casting sequences, time dependent effects of concrete creep and shrinkage are implemented in the analytical model. Finally, the methods of cracking control in terms of concrete slump and relative humidity are suggested to prevent early transverse cracking of concrete slab.

It was found from the previous experimental studies that the long-term deformation of SRC columns was quite different from that of RC columns. A new approach method is needed to quantitatively predict the long-term deformation of SRC columns. In this study, the causes of the difference between the behaviors of RC and SRC columns are investigated and discussed. SRC columns exhibit a time-dependent relative humidity distribution in a cross section differently from that of RC columns due to the presence of a flange, which interferes with the moisture diffusion of concrete. This different relative humidity distribution may reduce the drying shrinkage and the drying creep in comparison with RC columns.
Prestressed concrete (PC) bridges using corrugated steel webbing have emerged as one of the most promising forms of steel-concrete composite bridge. However, their long-term behavior is not well understood, especially in the case of large-span bridges. In order to study the time-dependent performance, a large three-span PC bridge with corrugated steel webbing was compared to a similar conventional PC bridge to examine their respective time-dependent characteristics. In addition, a three-dimensional finite element method with step-by-step time integration that takes into account cantilever construction procedures was used to predict long-term behaviors such as deflection, stress distribution and prestressing loss. These predictions were based upon four well-established empirical creep prediction models. PC bridges with a corrugated steel web were observed to have a better long-term performance relative to conventional PC bridges. In particular, it is noted that the pre-cambering for PC bridges with a corrugated steel web could be smaller than that of conventional PC bridges. The ratio of side-to-mid span has great influence on the long-term deformation of PC bridges with a corrugated steel web, and it is suggested that the design value should be between 0.4 and 0.6. However, the different creep prediction models still showed a weak homogeneity, thus, the further experimental research and the development of health monitoring systems are required to further progress our understanding of the long-term behavior of PC bridges with corrugated steel webbing.

This study deals with behavior of steel box girder bridges according to the concrete slab casting sequences and sectional types. The time dependent behavior of bridges caused by the differential setting of slab concrete resulting from time gap for each part of slab deck in a sequential placing method produces is analyzed. In correlation studies between girder section types and placing sequences, time dependent effects of concrete creep and shrinkage are implemented in the analytical model proposed in the previous study. Finally, field recommendations in terms of concrete slump and relative humidity are suggested to prevent early transverse cracking of concrete slabs.
The effect of Ni-rich phase on the stress-rupture properties of Ni mlcroalloyed W were studied using direct load creep tester at 100$0^{\circ}C$, 110$0^{\circ}C$, and 120$0^{\circ}C$ in $H_2.$ The stress rupture strength of 100hrs. of W-0.4wt% Ni was 43% higher at 100$0^{\circ}C$ and 35% higher at 110 $0^{\circ}C$than that of W-0.2wt% Ni due to the larger initial grain size, the higher relative density and the higher grain growth during test. That of W-0.8wt% Ni was 90% higher at 100$0^{\circ}C$ and 60% higher at 110$0^{\circ}C$ than that of W-0.2wt% Ni. The activation energy of W-0.4wt% Ni for creep was 81.3 Kcal/mole. It was considered that creep deformation was controlled by the diffusion of W in the Ni rich phase between the grains and the deformation of grains. All of the specimens showed intergranular fracture by grain boundary cavitation and growth of cavity throughout the entire spcimen cross-section.
