  • Characteristics of a laminar diffusion flame placed near wall in microgravity have been numerically analyzed in a two-dimension. The fuel for the flame is $C_2H_4$. The flame is initiated by imposing a high temperature ignition source. The flow field, temperature field, and flame shape in microgravity diffusion flame are detailed. Especially, effects of surrounding air velocity and fuel injection velocity on the microgravity diffusion flame have been discussed accounting for standoff distance. And, the effect of curvature rate has been also studied. The results showed that velocities in a diffusion flame were overshoot because of volumetric expansion and distribution of temperature showed regularity by free-buoyancy This means that the diffusion flame in microgravity is very stable, while the flame in normal gravity is not regular and unstable due to buoyancy. Standoff distance decreases with increase in surrounding air velocity and with decrease in fuel injection velocity. With increasing curvature rate, the position of reaction rate moves away the wall.

  • We study the effect of numerical quadrature in space on semidiscrete and fully discrete piecewise linear finite element methods for parabolic interface problems. Optimal $L^2(L^2)$ and $L^2(H^1)$ error estimates are shown to hold for semidiscrete problem under suitable regularity of the true solution in whole domain. Further, fully discrete scheme based on backward Euler method has also analyzed and optimal $L^2(L^2)$ norm error estimate is established. The error estimates are obtained for fitted finite element discretization based on straight interface triangles.

  • Monolayers of hypericin, a photodynamic polycyclic quinoidal compound, were prepared at the air-water interface, and were transferred to metal substrates to form Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) monolayers. The structural characteristics of hypericin LB monolayers and self-assembled (SA) monolayers were investigated using surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) spectroscopy. Both the spectroscopic data and the surface pressure - area (${\pi}-A$) isotherms suggest that hypericin forms ${\pi}-{\pi}$ aggregates that orient vertically to the subphase surface. Whereas the ordering and orientation of control was less effective in SA monolayers, a higher structural regularity was attained in LB systems. The effect of subphase on the structural integrity of the monolayer was also investigated.

  • Linear density regularity is one of the important characteristics of fiber bundle and yarns, influencing the process performance and the product quality. Analysis on the variation of bundle thickness for various draft ratios and frequencies is therefore of great significance, because an optimum drafting condition can be obtained by establishing the effect of major process factors on the output. • PCOS is the most common endocrine pathology in females of reproductive worldwide. The prevalence ranges between 5% and 15% depending on the diagnostic criteria applied. Its etiology involves both genetic and environmental factors. Typically, women with PCOS show clinical and biochemical hyperandrogenism, oligoanovulation, and micropolycystic morphology of the ovaries. Unani formulation containing Nankhwah, Badiyan and Wajturki possessing the properties of Mudirr-i-Bawl-o- Hayd, mujaff -iBalgham, Munaffis-i- balgham, Muhallil, Muqawwi-i-Jigar were used in the form of Joshanda 6gm BD Starting from 5 days prior to expected period date to 5 days during menses for 3 cycles, which led to regain regularity of menses, correcting the amount of flow and reducing the ovarian volume on US. Thus unani medications have the potential to treat ths symtoms of PCOS and improve the quality of life of women.

  • This study was conducted to assess the effect of nutrition counseling for postoperative female breast cancer patients (N = 38). In baseline survey, we investigated the nutrition parameters by measuring anthropometric and biochemical blood index and assessing nutrient intake using recall method. Individual nutrition counseling was performed 3 times with 2 - 3 weeks intervals. Patients were offered nutrition information related to breast cancer and desirable life style after cancer operation. The effects of counseling program were assessed 2 month later. Of biochemical parameters, serum total cholesterol level was significantly reduced after nutrition counseling program. Nutrient intakes of postoperative breast cancer patients were generally below the RDA level at the baseline survey. After nutrition counseling, mean daily intake of total energy, protein, calcium were significantly elevated. Of dietary habit, meal regularity and control of portion size were improved and fruits and vegetables intake were significantly increased after nutrition counseling. Control of fatty food intake and alcohol drinking were significantly improved after nutrition counseling program. Score of general nutrition knowledge and knowledge about breast cancer, were significantly increased after nutrition counseling from 2.1 to 3.2 and from 2.3 to 3.8, respectively. It can be postulated that the dietary habit and nutrients intake of postoperative breast cancer patients can be improved by individual nutrition counseling program. In further study, the systematic group nutrition counseling program is needed.

  • Extrusion-Spheronization Processing (ESP) was applied to preparate sustained release spherical particles as a form of matrix spherical particle (MSP). dl-methylephedrine HCI (ME) was the drug chosen and several dissolution retardants and binders were selected to estimate a relatively good formulation on this purpose. The effect of physicochemical nature, concentration, and solvents of these dissolution retardants and binders on regularity in shape of MSP and in vitro release rate was investigated. The effect of Particle size of matrix particles was also evaluated. It is, therefore, concluded that this ESP would be a relatively good preparation method of sustained release MSP of ME which has the sustained action of about 5 and 8 hours by formulating of ethylcellulose and ethylcellulose-paraffin as a dissolution retardant, respectively, and then ethylcellulose solution of 80% EtOH is recommended as a binder.

  • Arbitration is a private and contractual means of dispute resolution. As a creature of contract, any particular arbitration owes its existence-and attendant limitations-to an arbitral agreement. This means that, in practice, the parties select their own judges, forum, and rules. By agreeing to arbitration, parties hope to achieve several goals. And arbitration has proven to be quicker, cheaper, and more predictable than litigation as a means of resolving many types of claims. As a primary method of conflict resolution, it is now worthwhile to consider carefully any procedural mechanism designed to promote the central aims of this alternative to litigation. It is helpful to frame any particular analysis according to (1) the type of decision for which preclusive effect is sought (arbitral award or court judgment) and (2) the type of subsequent proceeding in which preclusion is sought (an arbitration or a litigation). Res judicata may well bar litigation of that claim between the parties, but non-parties (affiliates or individuals) will not benefit from this bar unless the arbitral tribunal makes findings sufficient to satisfy the elements of collateral estoppel. The final permutation to be considered involves an arbitral award's preclusive effect on a subsequent arbitration. Whether a prior court decision should preclude issues or claims in a subsequent arbitration presents the easiest case for analysis. It is the easiest primarily because there is generally little room to debate whether adequate procedures were followed in a litigation. That is, one can safely assume that the rules of evidence and the rules of civil procedure were followed and that formal records sufficiently memorialize both the proceeding itself and the ultimate decision. Procedural regularity is mentioned not necessarily because it is an analytic tool, but because so many jurists and scholars see it as an impediment to the application of preclusionary doctrines.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between female college students' stress level and premenstrual syndrome so that it can provide baseline data on how to cope with the syndrome. The study subjects are 250 female college students in Gyungbook area. This study chose 199 appropriate subjects and collected data. As per general menstrual phases, this study investigated the age when one had her first period, regularity and duration of period, and amount of bleeding. It used a measurement tool to measure stress level and premenstrual syndrome. Most of the subjects experienced their first period before the age of 13. The menstrual period was irregular with the duration of less than 7 days. 123 subjects had normal amount of bleeding. 121 subjects were experiencing high level of stress over 2.4. The correlation between the level of stress and premenstrual syndrome factors showed significant static correlation for each factor. Especially, the correlation between digestive system and response of autonomic nervous system was .996 and negative emotion and behavioral change was .635, and negative emotion and pain was .614 which were relatively high. The regression analysis of factors of premenstrual syndrome depending on the subjects' stress level indicated that response of autonomic nervous system had the biggest effect in the low stress group while behavioral change, negative emotion, pain, decreased concentration, water congestion, response of autonomic nervous system, and skin change had the biggest effect in the high stress group with statistical significance. Based on the result, it can be said that higher premenstrual stress is closely related to the premenstrual syndrome one experiences for some female college students.

  • We studied the effects of intake of the steamed bean powder(SB) and chungkukjang powder(CK) on blood parameters such as glucose, albumin, GOT, GPT, hematocrit, hemoglobin, total-/HDL-/LDL-cholesterol and triglyceride, and blood antioxidant nutrients such as retinol, tocopherols and carotenes in 26 college women. There were 2 groups, one group had 13 participants who consumed 30g SP and second group (13 participants) consumed 30g CK daily for 4 weeks. The study compared before with after SP/CK intake. The average age of the participants was 22.1 years, there were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of all parameters before the study. The energy intake showed no significant differences between before and after SP/CK intake. C(carbohydrate) propotion was reduced, and P(protein) and F(fat) ratio were increased after 4 week intake of SP/CK. Indices of nutritional quality(INQ) of protein(p<0.01), iron(p<0.05), zinc(p<0.05), vitamin C(p<0.05) were significantly increased after SP intake, and those of protein(p<0.05) and zinc also increased after CK intake. There were no significant differences in TG, total-/HDL-/LDL-cholesterol before and after SP/CK intake. The CK intake group showed the reduction only in retinol level in blood(p<0.05). Some students reported the improvement of the constipation and the regularity of the bowel elemination, and some students experienced the prolongation effects on one's monthly days after SP/CK intake. In this study, we could see the effect of improvement in some nutrients intake, but no effect in blood parameters by SP/CK intake for 4 weeks. That reason might be that the participants were healthy young women, or the trail period was not enough long to change.
