Registration-free 3D Point Cloud Data Acquisition Technique for as-is BIM Generation Using Rotating Flat Mirrors

  • Nowadays, as-is BIM generation has been popularly adopted in the architecture, engineering, construction and facility management (AEC/FM) industries. In order to generate a 3D as-is BIM of a structural component, current methods require a registration process that merges different sets of point cloud data obtained from multiple locations, which is time-consuming and registration error-prone. To tackle this limitation, this study proposes a registration-free 3D point cloud data acquisition technique for as-is BIM generation. In this study, small-size mirrors that rotate in both horizontal and vertical direction are used to enable the registration-free data acquisition technique. First, a geometric model that defines the relationship among the mirrors, the laser scanner and the target component is developed. Second, determinations of optimal laser scanner location and mirror location are performed based on the developed geometrical model. To validate the proposed registration-free as-is BIM generation technique, simulation tests are conducted on key construction components including a PC slab and a structural wall. The result demonstrates that the registration-free point cloud data acquisition technique can be applicable in various construction elements including PC elements and structural components for as-is BIM generation.

Temozolomide Salvage Chemotherapy for Recurrent Anaplastic Oligodendroglioma and Oligo-Astrocytoma

  • Objective : To evaluate the efficacy of temozolomide (TMZ) chemotherapy for recurrent anaplastic oligodendroglioma (AO) and anaplastic oligoastrocytoma (AOA). Methods : A multi-center retrospective trial enrolled seventy-two patients with histologically proven AO/AOA who underwent TMZ chemotherapy for their recurrent tumors from 2006 to 2010. TMZ was administered orally (150 to 200 $mg/m^2/day$) for 5 days per 28 days until unacceptable toxicity occurred or tumor progression was observed. Results : TMZ chemotherapy cycles administered was median 5.3 (range, 1-41). The objective response rate was 24% including 8 cases (11%) of complete response and another 23 patients (32%) were remained as stable disease. Severe side effects (${\geq}$grade 3) occurred only in 9 patients (13%). Progression-free survival (PFS) of all patients was a median 8.0 months (95% confidence interval, 6.0-10.0). The time to recurrence of a year or after was a favorable prognostic factor for PFS (p<0.05). Overall survival (OS) was apparently differed by the patient's histology, as AOA patients survived a median OS of 18.0 months while AO patients did not reach median OS at median follow-up of 11.5 months (range 2.7-65 months). Good performance status of Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group 0 and 1 showed prolonged OS (p<0.01). Conclusion : For recurrent AO/AOA after surgery followed by radiation therapy, TMZ could be recommended as a salvage therapy at the estimated efficacy equal to procarbazine, lomustine, and vincristine (PCV) chemotherapy at first relapse. For patients previously treated with PCV, TMZ is a favorable therapeutic option as 2nd line salvage chemotherapy with an acceptable toxicity rate.

Feature Based Multi-Resolution Registration of Blurred Images for Image Mosaic

  • Existing methods for the registration of blurred images are efficient for the artificially blurred images or a planar registration, but not suitable for the naturally blurred images existing in the real image mosaic process. In this paper, we attempt to resolve this problem and propose a method for a distortion-free stitching of naturally blurred images for image mosaic. It adopts a multi-resolution and robust feature based inter-layer mosaic together. In each layer, Harris corner detector is chosen to effectively detect features and RANSAC is used to find reliable matches for further calibration as well as an initial homography as the initial motion of next layer. Simplex and subspace trust region methods are used consequently to estimate the stable focal length and rotation matrix through the transformation property of feature matches. In order to stitch multiple images together, an iterative registration strategy is also adopted to estimate the focal length of each image. Experimental results demonstrate the performance of the proposed method.

  • 주택임대차보호법 제4차 개정에서 신설한 임차권등기명령제도는 임대차기간이 만료 후 보증금을 반환받지 못한 임차인에게 임차주택에 임차권등기를 마치면 종전의 대항력과 우선변제권을 그대로 유지되며, 임차권등기 이후에는 주택임대차보호법 제3조 제1항의 대항요건을 상실하더라도 이미 취득한 대항력과 우선변제권을 상실하지 않는 것으로 정하고 있다. 따라서 임차인은 안심하고 자유롭게 주거를 이전할 수 있어 사회 경제적 약자인 임차인의 권익보호에 중점을 두고 있다. 그러나 현실에서는 고액의 임차보증금을 반환받지 못하여 자유롭게 주거를 이전할 수 없는 임차인들이 대부분이고, 어쩔 수 없이 임차권등기명령에 의한 임차권등기를 마쳐서 이주를 하였다 하더라도 빠른 시일내에 임차보증금을 반환받지 못하는 등 여러 가지 문제점이 있는 바 이에 대한 개선방안을 본 연구에서 제시하고자 한다.

What and Where for Publications by Cancer Registries in the Asian Pacific? - Roles for the APJCP in the Future

  • The absolute necessity of cancer registration for cancer control planning is well accepted. The registry at the national or local level can provide not only essential data for cancer incidence, mortality and survival but may also point to risk and protective factors and efficacy of interventions by conducting epidemiological research. Timely publication of research findings in PubMed indexed journals is of the essence, especially in examples that allow free access so that the widest dissemination of information can be achieved. The present commentary covers the scope of research in Asia or using Asian data the period 2008-2013, nearly 40% of a total of over 300 papers being published in the APJCP. In order to reach its full potential the registry should incorporate many skills. Cooperation for this purpose, whether it be national, regional, Asia-wide or international, is a high priority and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, together with the National Cancer Institute in Thailand and the APOCP/APJCP are staging an Asian Cancer Network Forum in Bangkok in February of 2014 to allow discussion of ways forward. It is hoped that representatives from all regions of Asia will decide to attend and a l so contribute country reports for publication in a special supplement of the APJCP.

조영 전후의 폐 CT 영상 정합을 위한 특징 기반의 비강체 정합 기법 (Feature-based Non-rigid Registration between Pre- and Post-Contrast Lung CT Images)

  • In this paper, a feature-based registration technique is proposed for pre-contrast and post-contrast lung CT images. It utilizes three dimensional(3-D) features with their descriptors and estimates feature correspondences by nearest neighborhood matching in the feature space. We design a transformation model between the input image pairs using a free form deformation(FFD) which is based on B-splines. Registration is achieved by minimizing an energy function incorporating the smoothness of FFD and the correspondence information through a non-linear gradient conjugate method. To deal with outliers in feature matching, our energy model integrates a robust estimator which discards outliers effectively by iteratively reducing a radius of confidence in the minimization process. Performance evaluation was carried out in terms of accuracy and efficiency using seven pairs of lung CT images of clinical practice. For a quantitative assessment, a radiologist specialized in thorax manually placed landmarks on each CT image pair. In comparative evaluation to a conventional feature-based registration method, our algorithm showed improved performances in both accuracy and efficiency.

  • 영상정합을 통한 의료영상 분석방법들 중 동일환자에 대한 선형적 다중모달리티 정합이 널리 이용되고 있다. 그러나 실제적으로 여러 종류의 환자영상 취득이 어렵거나 해부학적 영상정보가 손실되는 경우가 적지 않다 본 논문에서는 표준 형상을 가지는 정상인 해부학적 뇌영상에 대한 환자 기능적 뇌영상의 정합방법을 제안한다. 먼저 두 영상간 모멘트 정보 매칭 및 초기선형 변환을 수행하고, 3차원 B zier 함수 기반 free-form 변형기법을 이용한 비선형 정합을 수행하여 정합 영상간 형상 차이를 최소화한다 제안방법은 환자 기능영상의 해부학적 분석 뿐 아니라 시술전-시술중 영상정합을 통한 영상유도시술에도 확장 적용될 수 있다.

무학습 근전도 패턴 인식 알고리즘: 부분 수부 절단 환자 사례 연구 (Training-Free sEMG Pattern Recognition Algorithm: A Case Study of A Patient with Partial-Hand Amputation)

  • Surface electromyogram (sEMG), which is a bio-electrical signal originated from action potentials of nerves and muscle fibers activated by motor neurons, has been widely used for recognizing motion intention of robotic prosthesis for amputees because it enables a device to be operated intuitively by users without any artificial and additional work. In this paper, we propose a training-free unsupervised sEMG pattern recognition algorithm. It is useful for the gesture recognition for the amputees from whom we cannot achieve motion labels for the previous supervised pattern recognition algorithms. Using the proposed algorithm, we can classify the sEMG signals for gesture recognition and the calculated threshold probability value can be used as a sensitivity parameter for pattern registration. The proposed algorithm was verified by a case study of a patient with partial-hand amputation.

도메인네임의 보호(保護)에 관한 법리(法理) 및 사례연구(事例硏究) (The Law and Case Study on the Domain Name Protection)

  • As a domain name can be registered simply by filing an application for registration, disputes over the domain name between the holder of domain name and the holder of trademark increased. Since the holder of trademark who was late for registering domain name is willing to pay for the return of domain name, cybersquatters increased. Cybersqatters are not genuine users of the Internet. This article is to compare the construction of law by American Courts and by Korean Courts and to assert the creation of the law similar to the law of US as to anti-cybersqatting. American Courts applied the Trademark Act and the Anti-Dilution Act to resolve the disputes over domain name. To apply the Trademark Act, the Court required the plaintiffs to prove that the goods or the services expressed by the domain name should be identical or similar to the goods or the services represented by the trademark. However, there were many cases where the holder of domain name used it for the goods or the services irrelevant to those of the holder of trademark. Also, the Anti-Dilution Act could not successfully protect the holder of trademark from cybersquatters because it required that the trademark should be famous or distinctive. As a result, the US promulgated a new law which is designed to prohibit cybersquatters from being free of sanction by the existing laws. Korea Courts applied the Trademark Act and the Unfair Competition Prohibition Act to the cases disputing domain name. Likewise in the US, Korean Courts must cope with the issue of identity of the goods or the services, and the famousness or distinctiveness of trademark. The Courts hesitate to give a winning judgement to the holder of trademark simply because the domain name of alleged violator confused the trademark. Some scholars advocate the broadening of construction of the Unfair Competition Prohibition Act to illegalize cybersquatting but it is beyond the meaning of the law. Accordingly, it is a time to make a law similar to the Anti-Cybersquatting Act of the US. The law must be a fair and reasonable compromise to resolve the collision between system of registration of domain name and the system of registration of trademark. Some commentators advocate that the registration of domain name should be examined just as the one of trademark and to facilitate it, the Patent and Trademark Office should have jurisdiction of registration of domain name. But it abandons the distinction of domain name and trademark and results in obstructing e-commerce. By adopting the Anti-Cybersqatting Act, we can prohibit it. In other cases, we get a reasonable adjustment between the holder of domain name and the holder of trademark through the Trademark Act and the Unfair Competition Prohibition Act.

펨토셀 환경에서의 셀 간 간섭 회피를 위한 자기 조직화된 자원 할당 기법 (A Self-Organized Frequency Allocation for Interference Avoidance in Femto-cell Systems)

  • 본 논문은 펨토셀 환경에서의 셀 간 간섭 회피를 위한 자기 조직화된 자완 할당 기법을 제안하고 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통해 성능을 평가한다. 두 단계로 이루어진 제안 기법은 선(先) 생성된 펨토셀의 기(旣) 사용 주파수를 후(後)생성된 펨토셀에게 양보 가능하다는 개념을 도입함으로써 펨토셀 등록 실패율을 줄이고 간섭을 회피하는 주파수 할당이 가능하도록 한다. 첫 번째 "초기 주파수 할당" 단계에서 각 펨토셀은 생성과 동시에 스캐닝을 통해 인접 펨토셀 정보를 수집하고 이 정보를 기반으로 이웃 펨토셀과 간섭이 없는 주파수를 사용 주파수로 선택한다. 첫 번째 단계에서 사용 주파수를 획득하지 못한 경우, 생성된 펨토셀은 두 번째 "주파수 조정" 단계를 통해 이웃 펨토셀이 사용하는 주파수를 조정함으로써 자신이 사용할 주파수를 획득한다. 컴퓨터 모의실험 결과는 등록 실패율 측면에서 제안한 방식이 기존 방식보다 우수함을 보여준다.
