A Statistical Analysis of Recycling Cost for Waste Home Appliances

  • On July 5, 1997, environmental Protection Administration of Taiwan publicized the recycling regulation of waste home appliances that include four items, namely, television, refrigerator, washing machine, and air conditioner. It is believed that this regulation pioneers the law enforcement of waste home appliances in the world. To comply with tile policy, several contemporary waste disposal plants specialized in waste home appliances were established according to a follow-up technical specification oil the waste treatment facilities and methodology. Therefore, the traditional dismantling facilities were substituted and waste collection routes were altered as well accordingly. This study investigates the collection and recycling costs of waste home appliances in accordance with these newly established routes and facilities, respectively. Cost survey was conducted among collectors and recycling plants of waste home appliances; consequently, tire collection and recycling costs were analyzed, correspondingly. Results show that the recycling costs of waste home appliances were much higher than that of other waste items. Since the market share of recycled materials is lacking, these waste recycling plants of home appliances can only survive under the subsidy of EPA in Taiwan. Due to some arduous problems, the subsidiary system has already caused serious financial unbalance for a foundation under EPA of Taiwan, which associated with waste recycling in Taiwan.

전류제어 루프를 갖는 선형 압축기 스트로크 제어기의 동적 성능 향상에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Dynamic Performance Improvement of a Linear Compressor Stroke Controller with a Current Control Loop)

  • 본 논문에서는 위상지연필터를 이용한 전류제어 루프를 갖는 선형압축기의 스트로크 제어기를 구현하였다. 선형압축기가 적용된 냉장고나 에어컨의 냉각능력을 제어하기 위해서는 단위시간동안 피스톤의 움직인 거리, 즉 피스톤의 속도를 제어해야 하는데 이때 리니어 모터의 주파수나 스트로크를 조정함으로써 가능하다. 이때, 주파수를 고정하고 스트로크를 변화시키는 것이 일반적이다. 인가된 전류를 정밀하게 제어하는 것이 선형압축기의 동특성을 좌우하는데, 본 연구에서는 전류제어 루프를 갖는 피스톤 진폭 제어기를 제안하고 성능이 우수함을 모의실험을 통해 확인하였다.

  • The ultrasonic welding is with features of high electric conductivity and hot conductivity when it is used in metallic bond, high electric conductivity and hot conductivity when it is used in various metallic bonds, excellent quality when it is used for advanced junction, easiness when it is used in various metallic bonds, being needless for the exhaustive material and being benefit for the environment. Currently the use of ultrasonic welding is increasing in the industrial fields such as the automobile battle, the refrigerator, the air conditioner, the battery and the solar cell junction. But the production ability is insufficient in our country and it is necessary to explore the core technology of the ultrasonic welding. In this paper, the output LC resonance filter and 35kHz squal wave onion occurrence Full Bridge plans was designed. The output examination of the ultrasonic oscillator and the ultrasonic welding examination were done. The method for getting more smooth result in the ultrasonic welding machine system was researched.

  • 본 논문에서는 위상지연필터를 이용한 리니어 모터 피스톤 진폭 추정기를 구현하였다. 리니어 컴프레서가 적용된 냉장고나 에어컨의 냉각능력을 제어하기 위해서는 단위시간동안 피스톤의 움직인 거리, 즉 피스톤의 속도를 제어해야 하는데 이때 리니어 모터의 주파수나 스트로크를 조정함으로써 가능하다. 이때, 주파수를 고정하고 스트로크를 변화시키는 것이 일반적이다. 스트로크, 즉 피스톤 진폭을 정확하게 추정하는 것이 리니어 컴프레서의 동특성을 좌우하는데, 본 연구에서는 위상지연필터를 이용한 피스톤 진폭 추정기를 제안하고 성능이 우수함을 모의실험을 통해 확인하였다.

ARM Cortex-M4 마이크로컨트롤러를 사용한 유도전동기의 저가형 벡터제어 인버터 설계 (The Design of Low-Cost Vector-Controlled Inverter for Induction Motor Using ARM Cortex-M4 Microcontroller)

  • 본 논문은 ARM Cortex-M4 마이크로컨트롤러를 사용하여 3상 유도전동기용의 저가형 벡터제어 인버터를 설계하는 방법을 제안한다. 이 MCU는 냉장고, 에어컨, 세탁기와 같은 가전제품을 제어하기 위하여 기존의 값비싼 DSP 소자를 대신할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 전동기 제어에 필요한 Cortex-M4의 주요 기능들을 정리하고, 이를 사용하여 벡터제어 인버터를 설계하는 방법을 기술한다. 실험용 벡터제어 인버터를 설계 제작하여 200[W]의 3상 유도전동기에 적용하였고, 이를 사용한 실험 결과는 기존의 TMS320F28335 DSP와 유사한 수준의 제어 성능을 보였다.

구속 링을 이용한 관 결합 공정의 응력해석 (Stress Analysis of Pipe Connection Process Using Clamping Ring)

  • The pipe connection process using a clamping ring is used for joining small pipes in the refrigerator and air-conditioner industries instead of the brazing process, which induces inevitable thermal deformation in the pipes. However, few studies have been carried out on the process to select optimal parameters in joining pipes, and studies on the relation between the process parameters of the connection and connecting force of the joint have not been conducted. In this study, the connection process of pipes with the clamping ring was modeled using the finite element method (FEM) and analyzed to obtain the contact stress distribution between the pipes with which the connecting force of the joint was estimated. Considering the characteristics of pipe connection, the process was modeled and simulated in a two-dimensional axisymmetric solution domain. With the numerical model, the effect of ring shape on the connection was studied by adding a projection to the end of a ring or changing the length of a ring. The results of the analyses revealed that the contact stress distribution could be predicted with the suggested model. The effect of the ring shape was also presented. The effect of any combination of process parameters could be easily estimated through the related analyses.

풍혈지대의 지질명소로서의 가치와 보호대책에 관한 연구 (A Research on Algific Sites' Value as Geosites and Their Conservation Strategies)

  • Since restoration of damaged geomorphological sites is almost impossible, it is necessary, to select and conserve geomorphological heritages in a preemptive action. Algific (=producing cold) sites are one of the natural resources which have not been protected well due to the lack of understanding of their value, despite their conservation importance. This research aimed to help people to recognize such geosites' actual value and make them understand the necessity of protecting these sites. Algific areas are valuable by the simple fact that it is a mysterious phenomenon in which the ice forming may happen even in the mid-summer and the environment is always cool. Algific sites deserve geomorphological research in the sense that topographic condition called talus causes this phenomenon. They are also valuable in plant geographic sense because northern rare plants survive isolatedly due to low-temperature environment of these sites. Their cultural-historical value is also high by the fact that they have been connected closely with local residents' lives shown by its nicknames, "natural refrigerator" or "natural air conditioner".

사인 웨이브 휜-관 열교환기의 공기측 성능에 관한 실험연구 (An Experimental Investigation on the Airside Performance of Fin-and-Tube Heat Exchangers Having Sinusoidal Wave Fins)

  • The heat transfer and friction characteristics of the heat exchangers having sinusoidal wave fins were experimentally investigated. Twenty-nine samples having different waffle heights (1.5 mm and 2.0 m), fin pitches (1.3mm to 1.7mm) and tube rows (one to three) were tested. Focus was given to the effect of the waffle configuration (herringbone or sinusoidal) on the heat transfer and friction characteristics. Results show that the sinusoidal wave geometry provides higher heat transfer coefficients and friction factors than the herringbone wave geometry, and the difference increases as the number of row increases. The i/f ratios of the herringbone wave geometry, however, are larger than those of the sinusoidal wave geometry. Compared to the herringbone wave geometry, the sinusoidal wave geometry yielded a weak row effect, which suggests a superior heat transfer performance at the fully developed flow region. Possible explanation is provided considering the flow characteristics in wavy channels. Within the present geometric range, the effect of the waffle height on the heat transfer coefficient was not prominent. The effect of the fin pitch was also negligible. Existing correlations highly overpredicted both the heat transfer coefficients and friction factors. A new correlation was developed using the present data.

  • For many years, engineers in the field of acoustics have used the A-weighted sound pressure level (SPL). Since they were interested just in a reduction of noise, the A-weighted SPL was considered good enough to quantify noise problems. This is reasonable because loudness is usually the most important parameter for most noise problems and A-weighted SPL is often reasonably well correlated with loudness. As the overall noise levels drop, however, other parameters become more important and must be considered, Advent of sound quality came from an understanding that A-weighted SPL only reflects the loudness of a sound. It is obviously impossible to characterize a complex sound with a single number. Although product mostly has revealed physical quantities created by the standpoint of engineers, consumers perceive and evaluate products on the non-physical characteristics, such as feelings, emotions, and experiences in different social and cultural situations. Especially, for the household appliances for instance air-conditioner or refrigerator, the sound is heavily related to the satisfaction of a customer who is a real user of the product and is very important factor to decide purchasing as well as visual design. Therefore, in this research, the general tendency of consumer's psychology was investigated for the appliances. And also, in order to obtain clear guidelines fur sound manipulation, the characteristics of the sound of air-conditioning systems and refrigerators were compared with competitors'. since it is important to overcome the discrepancy between engineering and marketing, the relevance of sound manipulation must be documented from the consumer's perspective. That is the reason why we conducted a consumer and marketing oriented study.

정보통신 및 전력 제품에 대한 소비자 효율성 연구 (Analysis on Consumption Efficiency of IT and Electronic Products)

  • 시장에는 다양한 속성과 가격의 제품이 동시에 존재하고 있으며, 소비자가 이 제품들 중에서 어떠한 제품을 선택했는지 살펴봄으로써 그 소비 행위가 어느 정도 효율적이었는지 판단할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 소비 효율성을 가격과 속성의 관점에서 정의하고, DEA 기법을 이용하여 한국의 주요 정보통신 및 전력 제품에 대한 소비자 효율성을 측정하고자 하였다. 분석 결과 에어컨, TV, 디지털 카메라, MP3 플레이어, 컴퓨터 시장에서는 상대적 효율성이 낮은 제품이 많이 선택된 반면, 냉장고와 세탁기 시장에서는 소비자의 효율성 분포가 정규 분포에 가까운 형태로 나타났다. 또한 정보 구득 관련 항목에 대한 설문 결과를 함께 고려하여 제품별 효율성 차이를 설명하고자 하였으며, 마지막으로 개별 소비자의 효율성과 특성 변수가 전력 사용량에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 본 연구는 소비 효율성이라는 개념을 정량적으로 측정하여 해당 제품의 시장에 대한 유용한 정보를 제공할 수 있으며, 제품의 구매와 에너지 사용을 함께 고려함으로써 분석의 범위를 확대하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
