Fuel-consumption and catalyst-out emissions of a parallel hybrid electric vehicle are affected by operating region of an engine. In many researches, It is generally known that it is profitable in fuel- consumption to operate engine in OOL(Optimal Operating Line). We established the mathematical model of a parallel hybrid electric vehicle, which is linear time-invariant. To operate an engine in OOL, we applied RHC(Receding Horizon Control) to the driving control of a parallel hybrid electric vehicle. And it is known that the RHC has advantages such as good tracking performance under state and control constraints. This RHC is obtained by using linear matrix inequality (LMI) optimization. In this paper, there are three main topics. First, without state and control constraints, the optimal tracking of OOL was simulated. Second, with state and control constraints by engine and motor performances, the optimal tracking of OOL was simulated. In the last, we studied on the optimal gear ratio. That is to say, we combined the RHC and the iterative simulation to extract the optimal gear ratio. In this simulation, the vehicle is commanded to track the reference vehicle trajectory and the engine is operated in the optimal operating region which is made by the state constraints.

In this paper. A PID motion controller based on the fuzzy concept is discussed for nonholonomic mobile robot. The difficulties in controlling such a Mobile robot vehicle lies in the fact that it usually has only two degrees of freedom for motion control in a tracking mode. It makes the control of speed and steering possible to decompose the error between the reference posture and the current posture. The Gyro compass is used to measure the position of robot. The proposed nonholonomic mobile robot is shown to follow the reference trajectory and compensate the dynamics. Simulation results are provided to validate the proposed controller. Experiments have been used to verify the effectiveness and robustness of the motion controller.
The practical implementation of model reference adaptive systems(MRAS) using digital computer requires the derivation of discrete-time adaptation laws. This is specially important in the case of direct driver robot and light weight manipulator where inertia changes ang gravity effects are significant. We develope a discrete-time model reference adaptive control scheme for trajectory tracking of robot manipulator. Instead of the conventional Lyapunov approach hyperstabillty theory is more appealing than the Lyapunov approach. It is better suited to discrete time systems and offers more flexibility in design by providing additional free design parameters.

Predictive control is a very practical method that obtain the current input that minimizes the future errors of the reference command and state by use of the predictive model of the controlled object, and can also consider the constraints of the state and input. Although there have been studies in which predictive control is applied to mobile robots, performance has not been optimized as various control parameters for determining control performance have been arbitrarily specified. In this paper, we apply the genetic algorithm to the trajectory tracking control of a mobile robot with input constraints in order to minimize the trajectory tracking errors through control parameter tuning, and apply the quadratic programming Hildreth method to reflect the input constraints. Through the computer simulation, the superiority of the proposed method is confirmed by comparing with the existing method.

This paper presents a new approachtothe design of adaptive control system using DSPs(TMS320C30) for robotic manipulators to achieve trajectory tracking by the joint angles. Digital signal processors are used in implementing real time adaptive control algorithms to provide an enhanced motion control for robotic manipulators. In the proposed control scheme, adaptation laws are derived from the improved Lyapunov second stability analysis method based on the adaptive model reference control theory. The adaptive controller consists of an adaaptive feedforward controller, feedback controller, and PID type time-varying auxillary control elements. The prpposed adaptive control scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and suitable for implementation of real-time control. Moreover, this scheme does not require an accurate dynamic modeling, nor values of manipulator parameters and payload. Performance of the adaptive controller is illustrated by simulation and experimental results for a SCARA robot.
In this paper, the backstepping control method that is useful for cascade systems is applied to the slew maneuver of the spacecraft. The quaternion is used for representing the attitude of the spacecraft, because the reference trajectory of angular velocity has simple mathematical form. The conventional backstepping control has severa] problems such as slow convergence, trivial cancelling of nonlinear terms, and excessive control input. To overcome these problems, the modified backstepping control method which is redesign of Lyapunov function is proposed. To design a tracking function for angular velocity, it is necessary to estimate the process of maximum angular velocity, and therefore the estimation procedure using Bellman-Gronwall inequality is developed. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed control law, numerical simulation is performed and the results are compared with the exiting control scheme.

This paper presents a decentralized motion control method of welding mobile manipulators which use for welding in many industrial fields. Major requirements of welding robots are accuracy, robust, and reliability so that they can substitute for the welders in hazardous and worse environment. To do this, the manipulator has to take the torch tracking along a welding trajectory with a constant velocity and a constant heading angle, and the mobile-platform has to move to avoid the singularities of the manipulator. In this paper, we develop a kinematic model of the mobile-platform and the manipulator as two separate subsystems. With the idea that the manipulator can avoid the singularities by keeping its initial configuration in the welding process, the redundancy problem of system is solved by introducing the platform mobility to realize this idea. Two controllers for the mobile-platform and the manipulator were designed, respectively, and the relationships between two controllers are the velocities of two subsystems. Control laws are obtained based on the Lyapunov function to ensure the asymptotical stability of the system. The simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed controllers.
