  • When the number of disks array systems that contain multiple disk drives, system performance is limited by a bottleneck at a centralized controller at a communication path than uses a bus. A redundant array of inexpensive disks(RAID) consists of many disks to enable high performance and large capacity. We evaluate a scalable architecture called Autonomous network, in which the controller functions are distributed to all disk drives and each disk has autonomy in processing its tasks. Disks drives enable better scalability and more effective utilization of system resources than with a hierarchical system. Autonomous network provided high read/write performance throughput in proportion to the number of disks.

  • This paper proposes a new approach to the designed of visual feedback control system based on visual servoing method. The main focus of this paper is presented how it is effective to use many features for improving the accuracy of the visual feedback control of industrial articulated robot for assembling and inspection of parts. Some rank conditions, which relate the image Jacobian, and the control performance are derived. It is also proven that the accuracy is improved by increasing the number of features. The effectiveness of redundant features is verified by the real time experiments on a SCARA type robot(FARA) made in samsung electronics company.

  • Rack-level DC power supply is the optimal technology for providing DC power to a volume server without any power infrastructure changes in an existing AC data center. In this paper, we propose a smartly controllable and monitorable DC rack power system. The proposed system improves power efficiency by changing the power distribution architecture of a conventional method in the rack. We developed an optimal power control method in multipower modules to provide high efficiency at low loads. In addition, the proposed system provides real-time web monitoring of the rack power and environment around a rack. In our experiments, the proposed system improved the power efficiency by over 10% compared to an AC power system providing N+1 redundant power and power monitoring.

  • The CORDIC algorithm can be implemented very simple H/W, but needs a lot of latency to compute trigonometric function. The RA(Redundant Arithmetic) resolves this problem, but also has difficulty to determine the directions of micro-rotations. The pre-computed direction of micro-rotation algorithm relieves the RA of this matter. In this paper, we proposed the modified the pre-computed algorithm adopted with a table-lookup. Instead of reducing H/W complexity, its performance and calculation errors are improved.

  • The intrusions appears continuously by new unknown attacks exploiting vulnerabilities of systems or components but there are no perfect solutions to protect this unknown attacks. To overcome this problem, in this paper, we have proposed and implemented a Web service intrusion tolerant system that provides continuous Web services to the end users transparently even after the occurrence of an attack against the Web services, and prevents the disclosure of system's configuration data from server Our system has an N+l node architecture which is to minimize the number of redundant server nodes and to tolerate the intrusion effectively, and it also supports diversity in its design. Experimental result obtained on an implemented system show that our system can cope with intrusion such as DoS, file modification, confidentiality compromise of system properly.

  • As a main management unit of MSC, PMU controls the MSC payload operation by issuing commands to other subunit and PMU internal modules. One of these main control functions is to drive the APS(Antenna Pointing System) when APS motion is required. For this purpose, SBC(Single Board Computer) for calculating motor commands and APDE for driving APM(Antenna Pointing Mechanism) by PWM signal operate inside PUM. In this paper, details on APDE design shall be described such as electronic board architecture, primary and redundant design concept, Cross-Strap, FPGA contents and latch-up immune concept, etc., which shall show good practices of electronic board design for space program.

  • The main function of a reactor protection system is to maintain the reactor core integrity and the reactor coolant system pressure boundary. Generally, the reactor protection system adopts the 2-out-of-m redundant architecture to assure a reliable operation. This paper describes the safety assessment of a digital reactor protection system using the fault tree analysis technique. The fault tree technique can be expressed in terms of combinations of the basic event failures such as the random hardware failures, common cause failures, operator errors, and the fault tolerance mechanisms implemented in the reactor protection system. In this paper, a prediction method of the hardware failure rate is suggested for a digital reactor protection system, and applied to the reactor protection system being developed in Korea to identify design weak points from a safety point of view.

  • A home network is a typical ubiquitous computing network that consists of various consumer devices and service environments. Home networks are requiring increasingly more complicated services, such as multimedia home theater and the monitoring and controlling of heterogeneous devices. Accordingly, a mutually connecting mechanism is needed among heterogeneous devices and services redundant. The current paper presents a Multimedia Room Bridge Adapter (MRBA) system that is designed to manage heterogeneous devices and support various services. In addition, a hardware and software prototype is implemented based on the proposed architecture.

  • The configuration of Distribution Automatic System(BAS) is dual servers and raid 5(redundant arrays of inexpensive disks) clustering dual HDD. The DAS has the distributed object-oriented architecture using middleware software(BASEstar), so the number of client nodes has no limitation. Because the DAS is scalable, it can be configured using various application programs and be upgraded easily. The DAS has competitive to export because there are system development and accumulation of technology that coincide in International Standard, using common 05 and DB. This paper describes the structure of DAS hardware and software separately and proposes to improve program to share real time DB efficiently at each node.

  • The architecture and functions of a prototype free ranging AGV system are described in this paper. The system has single tricycle configuration - the front wheel is driven and steered simultaneously. The primary position measurement device of this system is the redundant encoder system - an absolute encoder for the steering angle measurement of the front wheel, two incremental encoders for the measurement of the rear wheel rotations. The secondary position measurement device is implemented to reduce the accumulatad error in encoder measurements. The extended Kalman filter is suggested to combine the conflict measurement data for the proper position estimation.
