Selective Reduction of Carbonyl Compounds with B-Acetoxy- and B-Trifluoroacetoxydiisopinocampheylboranes

  • The new MPV-type reagents, B-acetoxydiisopinocampheylborane ($Ipc _2$BOAc) and B-trifluoroacetoxydiisopinocampheylborane $(Ipc _2BO _2CCF _3)$, have been prepared and their reducing characteristics in the reduction of carbonyl compound have been examined in order to find out a new reducing system with unique applicability in organic synthesis. In general, the reactivity of $Ipc _2BO _2CCF _3$ appears to be stronger than that of $Ipc _2$BOAc, presumably due to the acidity increase by the electron-withdrawing fluorine-substituent. Both reagents show an excellent selectivity in 1,2-reduction of $\alpha,\beta$-unsaturatedcarbonyl compounds and in competitive reduction between structurally different carbonyl compounds. In addition, $Ipc _2BO _2CCF _3$ shows interesting features in the stereoreduction of cyclic ketones.

합성가스 연소 매체순환식 가스연소기 적용을 위한 최적 산소공여입자 선정 (Selection of the Best Oxygen Carrier Particle for Syngas Fueled Chemical-Looping Combustor)

  • 합성가스 연소 매체순환식 가스연소기 적용을 위한 최적 산소공여입자를 선정하기 위해 네 가지 산소공여입자(NiO/bentonite, $NiO/LaAl_{11}O_{18}$, $Co_xO_y/CoAl_2O_4$, $NiO/NiAl_2O_4$)에 대해 환원반응기체로 모사 합성가스($H_2,\;CO2$, CO 각각 30, 10, 60%)를 사용하여 열중량 분석기(TGA)에서 환원반응특성 및 탄소침적특성을 측정 및 해석하였다. 환원반응온도가 증가함에 따라 최대전환율, 산소전달능력이 증가하였고 산소전달속도 측면에서 $900^{\circ}C$가 합성가스 연소반응에 적합한 조건으로 나타났으며 높은 환원반응온도(${\geq}800^{\circ}C$)에서는 네 가지 입자 모두에 대해 탄소침적현상이 나타나지 않았다. 네 가지 산소공여입자 중 NiO 계 산소공여입자가 CoO 계 산소공여입자에 비해 반응성이 높게 나타났으며 NiO/bentonite 입자가 산소전달속도, 탄소침적도 면에서 가장 좋은 반응성을 나타내었다. NiO/bentonite 입자에 포함된 금속산화물의 함량이 증가함에 따라 산소전달능력과 산소전달속도가 증가하는 것으로 나타나 금속산화물의 함량이 높은 산소공여입자가 매체순환식 가스연소기의 안정적인 조업에 유리한 것으로 나타났다.

  • Ternary oxides with controlled band gap energy and reduced reactivity against moisture and carbon dioxide gas were designed and studied as a potential material for protective layer of ac-PDPs. The results showed a significant reduction in firing voltage and improved environmental stability.

Synthesis of New 4-Oxo-2-Thioxo-1,2,3,4-Tetrahydropyrimidine Derivatives with an Incorporated Thiazolidinone Moiety and Testing Their Possible Serine Protease and Cercarial Elastase Inhibitory Effects with a Possible Prospective to Block Penetration of Schistosoma mansoni Cercariae into the Mice Skin

  • 5-Substituted 4-oxo-2-thioxo-1,,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine were synthesized by interaction of 4­oxo-2-thioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-sulfonylhydrazide with some aldehydes to give the corresponding Schiff-bases, which after cyclization gave corresponding thiazolidinones. For some of the thiazolidinones, Mannich bases reaction was carried out. All the derivatives were tested for their possible inhibitory effect on Schistosoma mansoni cercarial elastase (CE). Only, N'-(4-methylbenzyledine)-4-oxo-2-thioxo-1,2 ,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-sulfonylhydrazide was found to have potent inhibitory effect on the CE activity with $IC_{50} = 264{\mu}M.$ Upon its use as a paint for mice tails before infection with S. mansoni cercariae, the compound formulated in jojoba oil caused a significant reduction ($93\%$; P-value = 0.0002) in the worm burden. IgG & IgM in mice sera were measured by using several S. mansoni antigens by ELISA. Sera from treated infected mice (TIM) 2, 4, and 6 weeks (W) post infection (PI) showed 1.2 folds lower, 1.2 folds higher, 1.7 folds lower IgM reactivity against soluble cercarial antigenic preparation (CAP), respectively, when compared with sera collected from infected untreated mice (IUM). Sera from TIM 2, 4, and 6WPI showed 1.3, 1.6, and 1.7 folds higher IgG reactivity, respectively against CAP than the IgG reactivity from IUM. Sera from TIM 2, 4 and 6WPI showed 1.5, 1.2 folds lower and 1.4 folds higher IgM reactivity, respectively against soluble worm antigenic preparation (SWAP) when compared with sera collected from IUM. Sera from TIM 2, 4, and 6WPI showed 1.4, 1 folds lower and 1 fold higher IgG reactivity, respectivley to SWAP when compared with sera from IUM. Sera from TIM 2, 4, and 6WPI had generaly lower IgM and IgG reactivities against soluble egg antigen (SEA) when compared with sera from IUM.

Methyl Viologen Mediated Oxygen Reduction in Ethanol Solvent: the Electrocatalytic Reactivity of the Radical Cation

  • The study of methyl viologen ($MV^{2+}$) mediated oxygen reduction in electrolytic ethanol media possesses potential application in the electrochemical synthesis of hydrogen peroxide mainly due to the advantages of the much increased solubility of molecular oxygen ($O_2$) and high degree of reversibility of $MV^{2+/{\bullet}+}$ redox couple. The diffusion coefficients of both $MV^{2+}$ and $O_2$ were investigated via electrochemical techniques. For the first time, $MV^{2+}$ mediated $O_2$ reduction in electrolytic ethanol solution has been proved to be feasible on both boron-doped diamond and micro-carbon disc electrodes. The electrocatalytic response is demonstrated to be due to the radical cation, $MV^{{\bullet}+}$. The homogeneous electron transfer step is suggested to be the rate determining step with a rate constant of $(1{\pm}0.1){\times}10^5M^{-1}s^{-1}$. With the aid of a simulation program describing the EC' mechanism, by increasing the concentration ratio of $MV^{2+}$ to $O_2$ electrochemical catalysis can be switched from a partial to a 'total catalysis' regime.

Effect of Citric Acid in Cu Chemical Mechanical Planarization Slurry on Frictional Characteristics and Step Height Reduction of Cu Pattern

  • Copper chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) has become a key process in integrated circuit (IC) technology. The results of copper CMP depend not only on the mechanical abrasion, but also on the slurry chemistry. The slurry used for Cu CMP is known to have greater chemical reactivity than mechanical material removal. The Cu CMP slurry is composed of abrasive particles, an oxidizing agent, a complexing agent, and a corrosion inhibitor. Citric acid can be used as the complexing agent in Cu CMP slurries, and is widely used for post-CMP cleaning. Although many studies have investigated the effect of citric acid on Cu CMP, no studies have yet been conducted on the interfacial friction characteristics and step height reduction in CMP patterns. In this study, the effect of citric acid on the friction characteristics and step height reduction in a copper wafer with varying pattern densities during CMP are investigated. The prepared slurry consists of citric acid ($C_6H_8O_7$), hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$), and colloidal silica. The friction force is found to depend on the concentration of citric acid in the copper CMP slurry. The step heights of the patterns decrease rapidly with decreasing citric acid concentration in the copper CMP slurry. The step height of the copper pattern decreases more slowly in high-density regions than in low-density regions.

Corynebacterium parvum이 마우스의 세포성(細胞性) 및 체액성(體液性) 면역반응(免疫反應)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effect of Corynebacterium parvum on Cellular and Humoral Immune Responses in Mice)

  • The effect of subcutanecus injection of Corynebacterium parvum($700{\mu}g$) on cellular and humoral immune responses when given at various time relative to sheep red blood cell(SRBC) sensitization were studied by the evaluation of Arthus, delayed-type hypersensitivity(DTH), rosette forming cell, hemagglutinin and hemolysin reactions. Arthus reactivity(3 hours) developed in control mice and test mice pretreated with C. parvum 8 days prior to intravenous sensitization with SRBC were similar. However, there was slight depression of reactivity when C. parvum was given subcutaneoutly(s.c.) 4 or 2 days prior to SRBC sensitization. Arthus reactivity was significantly depressed when C. parvum was given s.c. either at the same time as, or 2 days later than, antigen. DTH reaction was net depressed significantly when C. parvum was injected 8 or 2 days prior to SRBC sensitization or at the same time as antigen. In contrast DTH was significantly augmented when C. parvum given s.c. 4 days prier to SRBC sensitization. DTH was depressed when C. parvum was given s.c. 2 days after antigen. No significant change occurred in rosette forming percetages of spleen cell when C. parvum was given s.c. 8, 4 or 2 days before SRBC sensitization. In contrast, a significant reduction in percentages of rosette forming cell occurred when C. parvum was given s.c. either at the same time as, or 2 days later than, antigen. Serum hemaggulutinin and hemolysin titers were not significantly affected by subcutaneous injection of C. parvum regardless of time relative to SRBC sensitization. However, mercaptoethanol-resistant hemaggulutinin and hemolysin(IgG) titers were somewhat augmented when C. parvum was given 2 days after antigen. It is concluded from these results that depending on the time and route of inoculation, C. parvum can enhance or depress immune responses in mice, suggesting the time and route of C. parvum inoculation is an important point of concern about clinical use of C. parvum for the treatment of cancer.

직접 황 회수 공정으로 유입되는 재생가스에 함유된 미량산소의 촉매활성저하 원인 규명 (Investigation of Catalytic Deactivation by Small Content Oxygen Contained in Regeneration Gas Influenced on DSRP)

  • 재생공정에서 황화 된 탈황흡수제의 재생을 위하여 산소는 산화제로 사용되었다. 재생공정에서 미량의 미 반응 산소는 직접 황 회수 공정으로 유입된다. 그러나, $SO_2$ 환원을 위한 반응성은 미 반응 산소의 다양한 이유에 의해서 저하된다. $SO_2$ 환원을 위한 반응성 실험을 위해 Sn-Zr계 촉매가 사용되었으며, $SO_2$$O_2$는 각각 5.0 vol%와 4.0 vol%로 고정하였고 $300-450^{\circ}C$와 1-20 atm에서 수행되었다. 본 연구에서는 고온건식 탈황공정의 직접 황 회수공정에 유입되는 미 반응산소에 의한 촉매반응성 저하에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. $SO_2$ 환원으로 생성된 원소 황은 미 반응산소에 의해서 재산화되고, redox반응기구에서 Sn-Zr계 촉매의 빈 격자 산소자리가 미 반응산소에 의해서 재산화되므로 $SO_2$ 전화율은 감소되는 것으로 판단된다. 한편 환원제로써 공급된 CO는 미 반응산소에 의해서 산화되어 연소열에 의해 촉매 충전 층 온도가 상승되기도 한다. 결과적으로 충전 층의 빠른 온도상승은 활성 물질을 소결시켜 촉매의 비활성화를 초래하게 된다.

VOCs의 촉매산화 메커니즘에 의한 독성 저감효과 (Toxicity Reduction of VOCs by Catalytic Oxidation Mechanism)

  • VOCs의 촉매산화 공정에서 다성분 VOCs 혼합물의 간섭효과와 독성저감에 고나해 연구를 수행하였다. VOCs로는 benzene, toluene, styrene을 선정하였고, 0.5% $Pt/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$를 촉매로 사용하였다. 각 VOCs의 반응성은 치환기의 종류에 따라 결합력이 다르기 때문에 benzene > toluene > styrene의 순으로 완전산화 반응이 잘 진행되었다. VOCs의 혼합물의 경우 각 VOCs는 서로 억제제로 작용하여 오나전산화 전환율을 감소시켰는데 이는 촉매표면에 각각의 VOCs가 경쟁 흡착하기 때문으로 styrene > toluene > benzene의 순으로 간섭효과가 크게 나타나는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이성분계 혼합 VOCs의 경우 혼합비에 따른 완전산화 전환율은 간섭효과가 작은 VOCs의 경우 상대 VOCs의 농도가 작을수록 전환율이 크게 나타났으며, 간섭효과가 큰 VOCs의 경우에는 상대 VOCs의 농도에 관계없이 자신의 부분농도에 반비레하는 현상을 보였다. 따라서 VOCs의 독성저감 기술로 촉매산화공정을 추천할 수 있으며, 실제공정과 같은 혼합물의 경우에도 단일성분의 전환특성과 혼합물의 간섭효과로부터 공정조건을 예측할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
