벽-유체의 상호작용을 고려한 유연관 내부 유동의 수치적 연구 (Numerical Analysis of the Flow in a Compliant Tube Considering Fluid-wall Interaction)

  • 본 연구에서는 정맥 등과 같은 혈관의 상황을 모사하기 위하여 선형적으로 벽 두께가 변하는 축 대칭 관의 벽면과 유동의 상호작용을 유한요소 방법으로 해석하였다. 사용한 유한요소 상용 소프트웨어(ADINA)의 타당성을 검증하기 위해서 막힘이 있는 혈관에서의 벽과 혈류의 상호작용을 해석하고 이를 기존의 실험결과와 비교하였다. 또한 2차원 신축 벽을 가지는 평판 사이의 유체 유동에 대한 결과를 기존 연구결과와 비교하였다. 축대칭 문제의 경우, 입구의 압력은 일정하게 유지하면서 출구 압력을 감소시켜 나간다. 출구 압력의 감소에 따라, 유량은 증가하며, 관내 유로의 단면적은 감소한다. speed index(평균속도를 파의 속도로 나눈 값)가 1 근방에서 유량은 최대가 되며, 유로 단면적이 최소가 된다. 그리고 출구압력이 좀 더 감소하면 유량은 오히려 줄어든다. 이와 같은 현상을 유동제한(flow limitation) 혹은 초킹(choking)이라 하는데, 폐의 기도(airway) 및 모세혈관, 그리고 이외의 여러 정맥들에서 자주 발생하는 폭포효과의 원인이 된다. 상류벽 두께와 하류 벽두께의 비가 2 일 경우에는 하류쪽에서 목(area throat)이 형성되며 이 비가 3일 경우에는 상류 쪽으로 이동하는데 하류 벽면의 강성(stiffness)이 상류 쪽에 비해 강하게 되어서 상류 쪽에서 먼저 붕괴가 일어나기 때문이다.

Dynamics of high-speed train in crosswinds based on an air-train-track interaction model

  • A numerical model for analyzing air-train-track interaction is proposed to investigate the dynamic behavior of a high-speed train running on a track in crosswinds. The model is composed of a train-track interaction model and a train-air interaction model. The train-track interaction model is built on the basis of the vehicle-track coupled dynamics theory. The train-air interaction model is developed based on the train aerodynamics, in which the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) method is employed to deal with the dynamic boundary between the train and the air. Based on the air-train-track model, characteristics of flow structure around a high-speed train are described and the dynamic behavior of the high-speed train running on track in crosswinds is investigated. Results show that the dynamic indices of the head car are larger than those of other cars in crosswinds. From the viewpoint of dynamic safety evaluation, the running safety of the train in crosswinds is basically controlled by the head car. Compared with the generally used assessment indices of running safety such as the derailment coefficient and the wheel-load reduction ratio, the overturning coefficient will overestimate the running safety of a train on a track under crosswind condition. It is suggested to use the wheel-load reduction ratio and the lateral wheel-rail force as the dominant safety assessment indices when high-speed trains run in crosswinds.

Numerical Simulation of Natural Convection in Annuli with Internal Fins

  • The solution for the natural convection in internally finned horizontal annuli is obtained by using a numerical simulation of time-dependent and two-dimensional governing equations. The fins existing in annuli influence the flow pattern, temperature distribution and heat transfer rate. The variations of the On configuration suppress or accelerate the free convective effects compared to those of the smooth tubes. The effects of fin configuration, number of fins and ratio of annulus gap width to the inner cylinder radius on the fluid flow and heat transfer in annuli are demonstrated by the distribution of the velocity vector, isotherms and streamlines. The governing equations are solved efficiently by using a parallel implementation. The technique is adopted for reduction of the computation cost. The parallelization is performed with the domain decomposition technique and message passing between sub-domains on the basis of the MPI library. The results from parallel computation reveal in consistency with those of the sequential program. Moreover, the speed-up ratio shows linearity with the number of processor.

급축소관을 전파하는 압축파에 관한 이론적 연구 (Theoretical study on compression wave propagating in a sudden reduction duct)

  • Compression waves propagating in a high speed railway tunnel impose large pressure fluctuations on the train body or tunnel structures. The pressure fluctuations can cause ear discomfort for the passengers and increase the aerodynamic resistance of trains. As a fundamental research to resolve the pressure wave phenomenon in the tunnel, a steady theory of Chester-Chisnell- Whitham was applied to a simple shock tube with a sudden cross-sectional area reduction to model trains inside the tunnel. The results of the present theoretical analysis were compared with the experiments of the shock tube. The results show that the reflected compression wave from the model becomes stronger as the strength of incident compression wave and the blockage ratio increase. However, the compression wave passing through the model is not strongly dependent on the blockage ratio. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experiments.

초고속 비행체 항력감소를 위한 미국의 분사 제트 연구 동향과 핵심 변수 (Key Parameters and Research Review on Counterflow Jet Study in USA for Drag Reduction of a High-speed Vehicle)

  • 초고속으로 비행하는 물체의 항력을 줄이기 위해 노즈콘으로부터 제트를 분사하는 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 항력감소의 기초자료와 핵심 변수를 파악하기 위해서 미국의 항력감소용 분사 제트 연구 동향을 조사하고 요약하였다. 연구에 활용한 노즈콘 모델의 형상은 반구 실린더, 잘린 콘, 재돌입 캡슐이었으며, 각 모델의 시험조건에 대해 정리하였다. 항력감소의 핵심 변수는 분사제트의 마하수, 질량유량, 압력비율이다. 항력감소효과는 주어진 조건에 따라 다양한 결과를 보였지만, 최대 40~50% 정도까지 항력이 감소하였다.

유동 가시화와 LDV 측정을 이용한 흡기계 내의 유동장에 관한 실험적 해석 (An Experimental Analysis of the Flow Field in an Air Induction System by Flow Visualization and LDV Measurements)

  • To describe the air flow characteristics within an air cleaner cover and mass air flow sensor (MAFS) entry region installed in a 3.0L engine air induction system, flow visualization, velocity and turbulence intensity measurements were taken in several view planes. A detailed knowledge of the interaction between the design parameters and the flow structures will enhance our understanding of the motions within the flow field and enable engineers to optimize the induction system and reduce the signal-to-noise ratio in the MAFS output. Emphasis is placed on the analysis of coherent motions and the controlling parameters which affect the air flow in the MAFS entrance region over a flow rate of 13-240 kg/hr. The high speed motion pictures illustrated that the air flow generated within the air cleaner cover under steady state condition is quite complex. In both axial and radial planes of the main passage it was found that the flow pattern is remarkably influenced by the air cleaner cover and main passage configuration. A comparison of the flow patterns and measurements in the original and modified air cleaner cover is presented. Measurements from the MAFS indicated an significant reduction in pressure drop and signal noise for the modified cover as compared with the original cover, over an air flow rate of 13-240 kg/hr.

박막형 소음기의 주파수 특성 (Frequency Characteristics of a Membrane Duct)

  • Theoretical analysis of noise reduction by a membrane-duct system is presented. When acorn waves propagate in the membrane-duct, the membrane is also excited and its motion is coup with interior medium. It has been shown that propagating waves with supersonic wave speed exist beyond a certain critical frequency that is determined from the mass ratio of the me and the fluid. Also found are subsonic waves which couple strongly wi th the membrane a provide a powerful mechanism of energy dissipation. Existence of an exterior medium alter dispersion characteristics. It provides additional mass loading and reduces the subsort speed further. The effect of mean flow speed on dispersion characteristics is also consider results show that the membrane-duct system can be applied to diminish and absorb 1 frequency noise in duct instead of passive muffler, such as a simple expansion chamber absorption material.

STATIC CHARACTERISTICS OF A UREA-SCR SYSTEM FOR NOx REDUCTION IN DIESEL ENGINES

  • This paper presents the static characteristics of a urea-SCR system. The static characterization of the urea-SCR system was generated by sweeping urea flow rates at common engine torque/speed operating points. Several experiments were performed using engine operating points at different raw NOx emission levels, space velocities, and SCR catalyst temperatures. The recorded NOx emissions from the engine exhaust outlet and engine tailpipe are then compared. The urea-SCR static system results indicated that a $50{\sim}60%$ NOx conversion is achievable at most engine operating points using the stoichiometric $NH_3/NOx$ ratio, and a high 98% NOx conversion is possible by exceeding the stoichiometric $NH_3/NOx$ ratio. The effect of the pre-oxidation catalyst volume was also investigated and found to have a profound impact on experimental results, particularly the static NOx conversion.

  • Graft copolymerized polycarboxylate(PC)-type superplasticizers(PCs) which have carboxylic acid with $\pi$ bond among the molecular structure and polyethyleneglycol methyl ether methacrylate(PMEM) were synthesized by free radical reaction and investigated the chemical structure, polymerization condition, and physical and chemical properties. Also, the effects of PCs in the dispersion, adsorption and hydration of cement were evaluated. As the molecular weight of graft chain decreases, the adsorption amount on cement particles increased. It was advantageous for the flow to reduce molar ratio, the lower the side bone molecular weight, and increase the molar ratio, the larger the side bone molecular weight. The hydration reaction speed was highly delayed at day 1, due to increase in molar ratio and reduction in side bone molecular weight, but it was recovered in the days after.

스파크점화기관에서 흡기제어 방식이 부분부하 성능에 미치는 영향(1) - 스로틀링과 마스킹의 비교 (Effect of Intake Flow Control Method on Part Load Performance in SI Engine(1) - Comparison of Throttling and Masking)

  • This paper is the first investigation on the effect of flow control methods on the part load performance in a spark ignition engine. For comparison of the methods, two control devices, port throttling and masking, were applied to a conventional engine without any design change of the intake port. Steady flow evaluation shows that steady flow rates per unit opening area and swirl ratio are very low compared with the port throttling and saturated from mid-stage valve lift, however, swirl increases slightly as the lift is higher in case of 1/4 masking control. In the part load performance, the effect of simple port throttling on lean misfire limit expansion is limited and insufficient; on the other hand a masking improves the limit considerably without any port modification for increasing swirl. Also the results show that the intake flow control improves the combustion with following two mechanisms: stratification induced by the combination of the flow pattern and the fuel injection timing attribute to ignition ability and the intensified flow ensure fast burn. In addition fuel consumption reduces under the flow controls and the reduction rate is different according to the operation conditions and control methods. At the Stoichiometric and/or low speed and low load the throttling method is more advantageous; however vice versa at lean and high load condition. Finally, the throttling is more efficient for HC reduction than masking, on the other side the NOx emissions increase under the masking and decrease under the port throttling compared with conventional port scheme.
