화성호 무기태 인의 형태별 특성 조사 (Research on inorganic phosphorus fraction of Hwa-seong lake)

  • 일반적으로 퇴적물로부터 인의 용출은, 산소조건, 수온, 유속 등 여러 환경의 변화에 의해서 이루어지며, 환경에 따라 용출되는 인의 형태 또한 다르다. 따라서 어떠한 기작을 통해 얼마나 많은 양의 인이 용출되는지는 수체의 물리 화학적 조건과 퇴적물에 포함된 인의 존재형태에 의해 결정된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 담수호의 부영양화 원인물질이면서 부영양화 발생을 제어할 수 있는 가장 중요한 인자로 작용하는 인의 거동특성을 파악하기 위하여 이루어 졌다. 본 연구는 경기도 화성시에 위치한 화성호에서 이루어 졌으며, 대표성을 나타낼 수 있는 3개의 지점을 선별하였다. 퇴적물은 Grap sampler를 이용하여 채취하였으며. Methods for P Analysis, G. M. Pierzynski(2009, G,m Pierzynski)에 의거하여 무기태 인을 loosely and soluble P, Al-P, Fe-P, Reductant soluble-P, Ca-P 5가지 형태로 분류하여 진행하였다. 화성호 퇴적물의 인의 형태별 분류를 실시하여 화성호 퇴적물 내의 무기태 인의 형태 분류와 이를 분석함으로서 인 용출에 의한 수질오염 가능성을 평가해보고자 하였다. 무기태 인의 형태는 세지점 모두 Fe-P > Al-P > Loosely and soluble-P > Reductant Soluble-P > Ca-P 비율로 나타났다. 가장 높은 비율을 차지하고 있는 Al-P 및 Fe-P의 경우, 호소수의 pH에 영향을 크게 받으며 특히 높은 pH에서 수층으로 용출이 활발히 일어날 수 있고, 호소의 물질순환에 있어서 다른 형태의 인보다 식물체에 단기간 이용될 수 있다는 점 때문에 관심이 높은 형태이다. 주로 이들 형태는 도시하수 및 산업폐수의 유입으로 인하여 영향을 받는다. 본 조사결과에서 화성호의 pH는 모든 지점에서 중성인 것으로 조사되었기 때문에 용출가능성은 상대적으로 적다고 판단된다.

동매트를 이용한 망간 단괴의 환원 침출 (Reduction leaching of manganese nodule with copper matte)

  • 환원제로서 동매트를 사용하여 희박 염삼 용액에서 망간 단괴 침출 특성을 조사하였다. 동매트는 망간 단괴 침출에 있어서 매우 효과적인 환원제였으며 2.5M 용액으로 용액온도 $70^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 침출하는 경우 금속의 침출율은 각각 Mn 96%, Ni 95%, Co 91%, Cu 88%, Fe 36%였다. Mn, Co 및 Ni의 침출은 동매트의 첨가량에 의존하였으며 고체와 액체의 비율 또한 침출에 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 침출용액의 온도 증가는 각 금속의 침출율을 향상시켰다. 망간 단괴로부터 Mn, Co, Ni 및 Cu의 침출속도는 동매트를 환원제로 사용하는 경우 표면 화학반응과 세공 확산에 의해 지배되었으며 이때의 각 금속의 활성화 에너지를 구한 결과 Mn, Co, Ni, Cu는 17.6, 12.8, 17.2 및 57.9 Kcal/mol이었다.

Effect of physicochemical properties and feed mix ratios on the carbothermic reductions of iron ore with coke

  • This study aimed to investigate the effect of physicochemical properties and mix ratios of iron ore (oxide feed): coke (reductant) on the carbothermic reductions of iron ore. Coke size was fixed at ≤63 ㎛ while iron ore size varied between 150-63 ㎛ and ≤63 ㎛ respectively. Mix ratios were changed from 100:0 (reference) to 80:20 and 60:40 while the temperature, heating rate and soaking duration in muffle furnace were fixed at 1100 ℃, 10 ℃/min and 1 hour. Particle size analyzer, XRF, CHNS and XRD analyses were used for determination of raw feed characteristics. The occurrence of phase transformations from various forms of iron oxides to iron during the carbothermal reductions were identified through XRD profiles and supported with weight loss (%). XRF analysis proved that iron ore is of high grade with 93.4% of Fe2O3 content. Other oxides present in minor amounts are 2% Al2O3 and 1.8% SiO2 with negligible amounts of other compounds such as MnO, K2O and CuO. Composite pellet with finer size iron particles (≤63 ㎛) and higher carbon content of 60:40 exhibited 45.13% weight lost compared to 32.30% and 3.88% respectively for 80:20 and 100:0 ratios. It is evident that reduction reactions can only occur with the presence of coke, the carbon supply. The small weight loss of 3.88% at 100:0 ratio occurs due to the removal of moisture and volatiles and oxidations of iron ore. Higher carbon supply at 60:40 leads into better heat and mass transfer and diffusivity during carbothermic reductions. Overall, finer particle size and higher carbon supply improves reactivity and gas-solid interactions resulting in increased reductions and phase transformations.

  • The assay on microbial dehydrogenase activity by using TTC was investigated. The experimental results are summarized as follows: 1. The TF production was affected by dissolved oxygen. Dissolved oxygen in samples could be effectively removed by adding $Na_{2}SO_{3}$ as reductant prior to incubation. 2. The toxic effect on TF formation was observed at up to 0.1% of final TTC concentration when VSS concentration was 2.7g/l. As the VSS concentration increased the effect decreased. 3. It was clearly revealed that the TF generation rate decreased with increasing VSS concentration. The dilution of sludge could be applicable when VSS level is below 3.5g/l. 4. The TF production of endogenous phase (De) could be used as a measure for the viable fraction of sludge over various sludge ages. The additional TF production (Ds) due to extracellular substrate responded to De, not to VSS concentration.

  • Dyeing cotton fabric with direct dye (C. I. Direct Blue 15) by redox sytem of ammonium persulfate as an oxidant and glucose as reductant was studied. It was found that covalent bond between dye and cellulose molecule can be formed by free radical produced by the redox system in the dye bath, which enhanced significantly the color strength. The retained color strength after DMF extraction was much better in the presence than in the absence of the redox sytem. The optimum dyeing condition was 0.028 mol/$\ell$(APS/Glucose each) of redox concentration, 65$^{\circle}C$ of dyeing temperature and 60min of dyeing time. The color variation on the dyed sample had not been observed as a result of fixed ${\lambda}_max$.

은을 코팅한 Nano-Colloidal Silica의 합성 (Synthesis of Nano-Colloidal Silica Coated with Silver)

  • 본 연구에서는 나노 콜로이드 실리카에 은을 코팅하기 위하여 직접 은을 코팅하는 방법과 실리카입자 표면개질 후 은을 코팅하는 방법 등의 2가지 방법이 시도되었다. 실리카에 대한 은의 질량비율과 환원제 주입량 등이 은의 코팅에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 콜로이드 실리카에 직접 은을 코팅한 경우보다 MPTS (3-Mercaptopropyl trimethoxysilane)와 APTS (3-Aminopropyl trimethoxysilane)로 표면개질한 후 은을 코팅한 경우가 높은 은(Ag) 코팅율과 우수한 항균효과를 나타내는 것이 관찰되었다.

Removal of TCE using zero valent iron (ZVI) with other contaminants

  • An alternative to pump and treat groundwater remediation is the use of reactive barriers. Zero valent iron (ZVI) is particularly useful as a reductant of chlorinated hydrocarbons because of its low cost and lack of toxicity ZVI can drive the dechlorination of chlorinated organic compounds and the reduction of chromium from the Cr(Ⅵ) to the Cr(III) state. The contaminants in subsurface environment usually exist as the mixed compounds. Therefore, the objective of this research is to study the effect of the other compounds on TCE removal by ZVI. The removal mechanism of TCE by ZVI is separated the dechlorination and sorption. TCE removal by ZVI slightly increased in presence of naphthalene as the non-reduced compound. TCE removal by ZVI remarkable decreased in presence of carbon tetrachloride, nitrate, and chromate as the reduced compounds. This research suggests that the effect of the coexisted compounds on the removal chlorinated compounds by reactive barrier technology should be considered for practical application.

  • A novel chemical method was evaluated to fabricate the ultrafine tungsten heavy alloy powders with bater-base solution made from the ammonium metatungstate (AMT), iron(II) chloride tetrahydrate ($FeCl_2{\cdot}4H_2O$), nickel(II) chloride hexahydrate ($NiCl_2{\cdot}6H_2O$) as source materials and the sodium tungstate dihydrate ($NaWO_4{\cdot}2H_2O$) as Cl-reductant. In the preparation of mixtures the amounts of the source components were chosen so as to obtain alloy of 93W-5Ni-2Fe composition(wt.%). The obtained powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction, XRF, field-emission scanning microscope (FESEM), and chemical composition was analyzed by EDX.

플라즈마/촉매 복합 다단 반응기를 이용한 NOx 저감 (A Study on the NOx Removal in Multiple Plasma/Catalyst Combined Reactor)

  • Plasma/catalyst combined reactor was designed to overcome the limits of plasma and catalyst technologies. Optimum reductant and catalyst was selected from screening test. Experiments about the concentrations of reactant and $H_2O$ and the effect of temperature were carried out. Hydrocarbons with double bond such as propylene and so on were more reactive than any other reductants in plasma/catalyst condition. Photocatalyst, especially hombikat >$TiO_2$ with the largest surface area among the catalysts tested, showed the highest DeNOx efficiency in plasma/catalyst reaction. As the concentration of $H_2O$ increased, the removal of NO was enhanced. The increased concentration of >$O_2$ promoted the reaction of NO which was oxidized to$NO_2$.

  • The exhaust gas from electric power stations, incinerators and industrial boilers contains considerable amount of harmful nitric oxide which causes air pollution. Selective catalytic reduction system with ammonia as a reductant(NH$_{3}$ SCR) have been applied to remove NOx since 1970. it is widely accepted that the NH$_{3}$ SCR process is the best method for the removal of NOx. In this paper the design of SCR reactor based on the NOx displacement is considered and the design program of SCR reactor is developed. The newly developed design program for de-NOx system maybe used in practice.
