  • The present paper discusses the characteristics of unsteady aerodynamic forces on long-span curved roofs. A forced vibration test is carried out in a wind tunnel to investigate the effects of wind speed, vibration amplitude, reduced frequency of vibration and rise/span ratio of the roof on the unsteady aerodynamic forces. Because the range of parameters tested in the wind tunnel experiment is limited, a CFD simulation is also made for evaluating the characteristics of unsteady aerodynamic forces on the vibrating roof over a wider range of parameters. Special attention is paid to the effect of reduced frequency of vibration. Based on the results of the wind tunnel experiment and CFD simulation, the influence of the unsteady aerodynamic forces on the dynamic response of a full-scale long-span curved roof is investigated on the basis of the spectral analysis.

  • An frequency modulated (FM) DANTE pulse sequence generates a quadratic phase toward the transverse of image by an FM RF pulse. In the image of a serious susceptibility effect, the phase due to the difference of the susceptibility in the pixel occurs susceptibility error which arise signal loss. But the signal loss due to the susceptibility effect in the pixel is reduced when the quadratic phase adds in the pixel. In this paper, we have generated a quadratic function toward the transverse (X-Y) using FM DANTE sequence and the susceptibility effect is reduced in the gradient echo (GE) imaging. Computer simulation and experimental results is obtained by using a whole-body KAIS 2.0T NMR system.

  • Radiated noise from high frequency transformers (HTFs) of switching mode power supply is mainly caused by the leakage inductance and the parasitic capacitance of HTFs. Generally, the radiated noise can be reduced by adding snubbers to switching power circuits or shielding HTFs. Radiated noise, however, is mainly affected by the shielding method. In this paper, the various shielding methods to reduce the radiated noise of EMI are analyzed, compared in the experimental studies. And it is proved that the radiated noise can be reduced according to the shielding methods of HFTs and the electrical connection between shields and power circuit.

  • A shape optimization of a rib of a bolster of a bogie frame is attempted and a dimension optimization on upper and lower plates is also carried out for the reduction of the weight of bogie frame. In addition, the dynamic characteristics of the weight reduced model are investigated by an analysis of a natural frequency and a transient analysis. The results show that the first natural frequency of an optimized model is larger than that of the lowest design value. And the results of transit analysis based on the experimental stress also show smaller value than the yield stress. Thus the optimized model attempted in this study is considered to be structurally stable and useful for the improvement of railway carriages.

  • The structure borne noise of the air-conditioner, which degrades the noise quality, is hardly reduced by the general noise treatments. It can be effectively reduced by eliminating the structural vibration which the noise originates from. The rubber vibration isolator prevents the dynamic force induced by the fan driving motor from exciting the chassis structure, which finally reduces the structure borne noise. The dynamic properties of the vibration isolation system such as the natural frequency of the vibration isolation and loss factor of the rubber isolator, need to be experimentally evaluated. In this paper, these dynamic properties were obtained by the resonant method using the impact hammer for 3 types of the isolator specimens. It is known that the isolation natural frequency of the axial direction of the rubber isolator is two times higher than that of the radial direction, and is proportional to the hardness of the rubber specimen.

  • This study proposed a high efficiency DC-DC converter with a new current doubler rectifier for fuel-cell systems for use with the Nexa(310-0027) PEMFC from the Ballard Co. The proposed high efficiency DC-DC converter for the fuel-cell system generated ZVS by applying partial resonance and using a phase shift PWM control method. Constantly switching frequency, loss of switching, peak current, and peak voltage were reduced by this system. In addition to this system, two inductors were attached to a rectifier circuit allowing it to be able to provide the direct current(DC) and DC voltage safely to a load with reduced ripple components. Also, by using the newly proposed current doubler rectifier, the high frequency DC-DC converter for the fuel cell system was capable of reaching a highest efficiency of 92[%] as compared to 88.3[%] efficiency in previous results, which means that efficiency increased 3.7[%]. The overall results were confirmed by a simulation and laboratory experiment.

  • The unsteady vortex lattice method is used to model lead-lag in flapping motions of a rectangular flat plate wing. The results for plunging and pitching motions were compared with the limited experimental results available and other numerical methods. They show that the method is capable of simulating many of the features of complex flapping flight. The lift, thrust and propulsive efficiency of a rectangular flat plate wing have been calculated for various lead-lag motion and reduced frequency with an amplitude of flapping angle(20o). To describe a motion profile of wing tip such as elliptic, line and circle, the phase difference of flapping and lead-lag motion was changed. And the effects of the motion profile on the aerodynamic characteristics of the flapping wing are discussed by examination of their trends.

  • The vibration and disturbances from operating the compact disk layer have an effect on the play ability. As the excitation sources of the compact disk player, there are the vibration of the motors and gears, impact by mechanical parts and the external excitations. So, most of the compact disk player have a anti-vibrational system, which is included some rubber or oil dampers. In this study, the vibration characteristics of rubber damper which is used home compact disk player are investigated. The materials and shape of rubber damper are changed, and the transmissibility is measured. As a conclusion, the natural frequency is moved to higher frequency and the transmissibility is reduced by the increasing rubber stiffness. In comparison to butyl rubber damper, the transmissibility of silicon damper was increased by larger restitution elasticity. The hollow damper was effective to reduced the transmissibility.

  • In this paper, we propose a new process for ultrasonic B-mode image considering the sound field effects of a concave circuit focused transducer, and aim to remove the speckle pattern which cause the blurring on boundary in ultrasonic B-mode image. We discuss in detail the conception of speckle pattern generation, and the frequency compounding method which is applied to the process for getting a speckle reduced B-mode image. Through the computer simulation, we define the meaning of speckle region, and show the results of reduced speckle pattern. It is discovered in the results that the frequency compounding method is very effective for boundary detection and that the application of the method is limited by various conditions.

  • In a switching power supply, the high frequency switching makes the passive components small, but the losses and the stresses of switches are increased by the switching frequency. Therefore, zero crossing technology using resonant is used to improve defect in high switching. In generally, zero crossing switching consists of Zero Current Switching(ZCS) and Zero Voltage Switching(ZVS). This paper proposes A Buck ZC-ZVS Converter with Reduced Conduction Losses. Comparing with a conventional Buck ZC-ZVS Converter, the proposed converter operates with the smaller rated power. This is achieved by changing the auxiliary switch position, which reduces its rating power. Simulation results using Pspice program about test circuit with rated 160W(30V, 5.3A) at 30kHz and experiment result under same condition were described in the paper.
