  • Glomus tumours are vascular hamartomas that are commonly found in the hand, particularly the subungual region. They appear as solitary or multiple tumours, and often present as a bluish discoloration of the nail plate. Different diagnostic tests are outlined, as well as imaging studies such as magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasound. Misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis of these tumours are common, while a familial tendency is a potential risk factor but not yet proven. Complete surgical excision often results in complete symptomatic relief, while recurrences are largely due to incomplete excision or the growth of a new glomus tumour. This article aims to review the key aspects of glomus tumours and provide a diagnostic algorithm so that the lesion can be recognized and treated earlier.

  • I clinically analysed 13 cases of broncholithiasis which treated surgically and found only four cases of broncholithiasis caused by the erosion of the peribronchial lymph node named by extrinsic formation[Group II], and nine cases of broncholithiasis caused by intrinsic formation[group I] which indicates that no evidence of the erosion of the calcified per-ibronchial lymph node into the bronchial tree was found. This study is performed to see any differences between two groups regarding presenting symptoms, locations of broncholith, preoperative diagnosis, a history of pulmonary tuberculosis, a procedure of operation, and chemical compositions of broncholiths from both groups. There was no difference between two groups in the presenting symptoms, the procedure of operation, and chemical compositions of broncholiths. The broncholits from group two is located in the right middle lobe bronchus, and the broncholiths of group one were distributed at various bronchi, In group one, only five cases out of nine had preoperative diagnosis[55.5%], but in group two, all four had preoperative diagnosis. All cases had good postoperative courses without any complication and recurrences.

  • Osteochondroma, known as osteocartilaginous exostosis, is most common benign bone tumor. The pyriform sinus are extremely rare involved, and there are a few cases reported. Most patients complain of foreign body sensation, and histologic diagnosis can confirm the disease. Treatment is by surgical excision. This should give complete resolution and there were rare recurrences with good prognosis. We experienced a osteochondroma of the priform sinus presenting as a submucosal mass. We report the case with a review of literatures.

  • PSA (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive) is used for various purposes in electronic appliances such as double-sided tape for fitting parts, product's name plate, and surface protecting film, and so forth. In several kinds of PSAs, this paper dealt with the failure analysis of PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) acrylic adhesive tapes. The causes of interface failure were investigated through the test of adhesive strength, thickness, and structure. And test standard methods to prevent recurrences were established.

  • Safety in the laboratory has been a growing interest due to recent recurrences of the fatal accidents such as physical or chemical explosions. It is not easy to determine the extent to what the industrial safety and health law should be applicable to the laboratory. Most laboratory workers are not sufficiently trained and recognized for the generic features of safety and health. The actual conditions of safety and health in the laboratory are not familar with laboratory workers. Safety and health in the laboratory is unfortunately in the dead ground. Therefore, it is most imperative to secure safety in the laboratory. This study proposes a method to improve safety in the laboratory.

  • A 14-year-old neutered-male Shih-Tzu was referred for glaucoma and hyphema accompanied by systemic hypertension. After topical corticosteroid and antiglaucoma medications, the left eye (OS) progressed phthisically, but ocular hypertension redevelop one-year-and-seven-months later. Suspected limbal melanoma developed in peripheral cornea/limbal sclera with heavily pigmented cornea OS. Ultrasound biomicroscopy and ocular ultrasonography differentiated ciliary body origin-heterogeneous mass from limbal mass. Persistent hyphema and pigmented cornea might obscure intraocular lesion and advanced diagnostic methods played a crucial role. Unlike the generally benign limbal melanoma, aggressive treatment was recommended for uveal tumor. Histopathology of enucleated OS confirmed malignant uveal melanoma with chronic hypertensive vasculopathy.

  • Safety in the nuclear facility has been a growing interest due to recent recurrences of the fatal accidents such as Fukushima accident and Chernobyl accident. It is not easy to determine the extent to what technical requirements of nuclear facility such as nuclear power plant are be likely applicable to the laboratory for use of nuclear material. All of workers in nuclear shall be recognized for the generic features of safety according to the related laws. This study surveys a status of safety control laws to enhance safety in laboratory for use of nuclear material.

  • The Henoch-Schnlein Purpura (HSP) is a systemic small vasculitis, characterized by palpable purpura, abdominal pain, hematuria or proteinuria, and arthritis. The etiology is unknown but it is manifested by allergic reaction, so it is called Anaphylactoid Purpura. The prognosis of disease is usually good, but about 50% of patients have experienced recurrences. Oral corticosteroid is treatment of choice, but it cannot prevent recurrence of Disease. We experienced two case of young patients who suffered from the Henoch-Schnlein purpura. We prescripted Mokyangbinrang-hwan, Insamyang-witang, Gwibi-tang. For both two patient, symptoms were much relieved.

  • Two cats were presented to the Dana Animal Hospital Eye Center and were diagnosed with corneal sequestrum through full ophthalmic examination. After lamellar keratectomy using a reusable corneal trephine blade and a crescent microsurgical knife, porcine urinary bladder submucosa extracellular matrix (UBM, ACeLL Vet® corneal disc) was applied to the corneal defects. In both cases, no corneal sequestrum recurrences were observed until 119 days and 253 days after the surgery, respectively. Porcine UBM could be recommended as a surgical scaffold for treatment of corneal sequestrum in cats.
