This study described a simple, rapid and cost effective analytical technique for the ultra-trace analysis of dioxins in environmental samples. Liquid-Liquid extraction methods were used for the initial extraction and enrichment of the analyte. Subsequent clean-up procedures were achieved by using strong cation exchanger, silica and Florisil cartridges. Extracts were analysed by HRGC/HRMS-SIM. The efficiency of these analytical methods was tested by recovery and selectivity for elimination of interferences such as phenols, pesticides and PCBs in each step. The mean recovery of 1,2,3,4-TCDD spiked at 10 ppt in sea water was about 92(${\pm}$1.6)%. This analytical method was applied to Kwangyang sea water and 4.5pg/L of 2,3,7,8-TCDD was determined.

Resilience is the capacity to maintain essential services under a range of circumstances from normal to extreme. It is achieved through the ability of assets, networks, systems and management to anticipate, absorb and recover from disturbance. It requires adaptive capacity in respect of current and future risks and uncertainties as well as experience to date. The agricultural infrastructures with high resilience can not only reduce the size of the disaster relatively, but also minimize the loss by reducing the time required for recovery. This study aims to evaluate the most suitable drought countermeasures with the analysis of various resilience indices by predicting future agricultural water shortage under land use and climate change scenarios for agricultural areas in Jeju Island. The results showed that the permanent countermeasure is suitable than the temporary countermeasures as drought size and the cost required for recovery increase. Wide-area water supply system, which is a kind of water grid system, is identified as the most advantageous among countermeasures. It is recommended to evaluate the capability of agricultural infrastructure against drought with the various Resilience Indices for reliable assessment of long-term effect.
There are several steps such as slicing, lapping, chemical etching and mechanical polishing in the silicon wafer production process. The chemical etching step is necessary to remove damaged layer caused In the slicing and lapping steps. The typical etching liquor is the acid mixture comprising nitric acid, acetic acid and hydrofluoric acid. At present, the waste acid is treated by a neutralization method with a high alkali cost and balky solid residue. A solvent extraction method is applicable to separate and recover each acid. Acetic acid is first separated from the waste liquor using 2-ethlyhexyl alcohols as an extractant. Then, nitric acid is recovered using TBP(Tri-butyl phosphate) as an extractant. Finally hydrofluoric acid is separated with the TBP solvent extraction. The expected recovered acids in this process are 2㏖/l acetic acid, 6㏖/1 nitric acid and 6㏖/l hydrofluoric acid. The yields of this process are almost 100% for acetic acid and nitric acid. On the other hand, it is important to recover and reuse the metal values contained in various industrial wastes in a viewpoint of environmental preservation. Most of industrial products are made through the processes to separate impurities in raw materials, solid and liquid wastes being necessarily discharged as industrial wastes. Chemical methods such as solvent extraction, ion exchange and membrane, and physical methods such as heavy media separation, magnetic separation and electrostatic separation are considered as the methods for separation and recovery of the metal values from the wastes. Some examples of the application of solvent extraction to the treatment of wastes such as Ni-Co alloy scrap, Sm-Co alloy scrap, fly ash and flue dust, and liquid wastes such as plating solution, the rinse solution, etching solution and pickling solution are introduced.
The preservation of pear germplasm, like that of other clonal germplasms, is difficult because it requires conservation of whole plants or their tissues. Among the currently available methods for long-term conservation of clonal germplasm, cryopreservation of shoot tips is the most reliable and cost- and space-effective option. Alginate-coated axillary shoot tips from in vitro-grown pear were conserved successfully in liquid nitrogen (LN) following dehydration. Shoot recovery from cryopreserved shoot tips was improved greatly after 8 weeks of cold acclimation, but recovery decreased slightly after then. The highest regeneration rate was observed when in vitro shoot tips were preincubated in MS (Murashige and Skoog) medium with 0.3 M sucrose for 48 h, and when alginate-coated shoot tips were precultured in MS medium with increasing sucrose concentrations (0.5 M and 0.7 M) for 8 and 16 h, respectively. When the encapsulated beads were dehydrated for up to 7 h [25% water content (fresh weight basis)] under laminar flow, the highest regeneration rate was observed in "BaeYun No. 3" (55.7%) and "Whanggeum" (43.3%) after warming from LN. This technique is useful as a practical procedure to cryopreserve plant material that is sensitive to freezing of the surrounding cryoprotectant medium. Therefore, this technique appears to be promising for the cryopreservation of shoot tips from in vitro-grown plantlets of pear germplasm.
Although microalgae are considered as a promising feedstock for biofuels, cost-efficient harvesting of microalgae needs to be significantly improved. In this study, the use of electro coagulation as a more rapid flocculation method for harvesting a freshwater (Scenedesmus dimorphus) microalgae species was evaluated. The results showed that, electro coagulation was shown to be more efficient using an aluminum anode than using an iron anode. And optimum conditions of electro coagulation for harvesting Scenedesmus dimorphus were found. The optimum stirring speed was 100 rpm and optimum pH was 5. Furthermore, the current density which the fastest and highest recovery efficiency is achieved at $30A/m^2$, while the highest energy efficiency was achieved at $10A/m^2$. A the rapid and high recovery efficiency indicate that electro coagulation is a particularly attractive technology for harvesting microalgae.
With a remarkable growth and expansion of Internet, the security issues emerged from intrusions and attacks such as computer viruses, denial of services and hackings to destroy information have been considered as serious threats for Internet and the private networks. To protect networks from intrusions and attacks, many vendors have developed various security systems such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems. However, managing these systems individually demands too much work and high cost. Thus, integrated and autonomous security management for various security products has become more important. In this paper, we present the architecture of the WISMSF (Web-based Integrated Security Management System for Firewalls) and the merits of centralized approach for managing heterogeneous firewalls and implement the prototype of the central policy database that is a component of the WISMSF engine. The WISMSF engine supports an integrated view for policies, the integrity of polities and the easy recovery and addition of policies. And also, we define the policy conflicts of WISMSF and present the policy recovery process to support to the policies consistence.

In this study, RBDO(Reliability Based Design Optimization) was performed for a supersonic double-wedge inlet. By considering uncertainty of design with given design space, the pressure recovery was transformed into the probabilistic constraint while the inlet drag was considered as a deterministic objective function. To save computational analysis cost and to search good design space, Latin-Hypercube design of experiment and the Kriging model were incorporated and then RBDO was performed. Monte-Carlo simulation was performed to verify the accuracy of AFORM(Advanced First Order Reliability Method). It was found that AFORM result agreed very well with the Monte-Carlo simulation result. The system reliability was guaranteed by considering uncertainty of the design variables. In case of considering diverse uncertainty of system design, RBDO was found to be useful.
An air cooling, open cathode type polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) has the advantages of system simplification and cost effectiveness. Open cathode PEMFC could suffer from reduced performance due to the membrane dehydration in low humidity of air. Effects of the cathode air flow rate, anode purge interval and long term storage on PEMFC performance were investigated in this work. Fan voltage is an important factor on air cooling PEMFC performance because the cathode air flow rate and stack temperature were controlled by fan voltage. The dead ended anode (DEA) method was applied to increase hydrogen usage. Periodical purge was used to discharge accumulated water and gas. The influence of long term non-operating condition on PEMFC performance degradation due to the membrane dehydration was also studied and the quick recovery method was developed.
This research focused on pattern adjustments of the stable knit garment for women. Fourteen different types of the knitted fabrics by 12 gauge, computerized flat bed machines were cut in as one half of the torso front, one half of the torso back, and one side of the sleeves for each of them. Guidelines such as the center front, the center back, the armhole, the bust-line, the waistline, the hip-line the hemline were basted on the torso patterns in the knitted fabrics. Also the grain-line, the elbow-line, and the hemline were basted on the one side of the sleeves in the same as above knitted fabrics. The torso patterns in the knitted fabrics were exhibited on the dress-forms on top of the torso patterns in Muslin, which also have the same guidelines drawn on. The distances between the guidelines on Muslin and those on the knitted fabrics for each set of the sample fabrics were measured every three days for two weeks. The fabric properties of the fourteen knitted fabrics such as fiber contents, stitch density both in the wale and course directions, weight, thickness, stretch & recovery, residual shrinkage, relaxation and drapability were laboratory tested for how these were related to finished appearance of 12 gauge, computerized flat knit garments and also in order to prove the fourteen knitted fabrics fall to a category of such as the stable knit. The results from the investigation revealed that six fabric properties such as stitch density, thickness, stretch recovery, residual shrinkage and relaxation were not so much significant factors as weight and drapability. In conclusion, fabric weight, and drapability of the fabric resulting from fiber contents were the cause of final appearance distortion of garment. When adapting patterns for stabilized, 12 gauge, computerized flat knitted fabrics, the fiber contents of the fabrics should be taken into consideration to reduce the production cost and produce better-fit garments.

For quality control of components in Korean red ginseng powder and extract, a new method for simultaneous quantification of 12 ginsenosides ($Rg_1$, Re, Rf, $Rh_1$, $Rg_2$[S], $Rg_2$[R], $Rb_1$, Rc, $Rb_2$, Rd, $Rg_3$[S], and $Rg_3$[R]) was studied. Compared to the official method for quantification of marker substances (ginsenosides $Rg_1$ and $Rb_1$), the proposed methods were guaranteed by in-house method validation. Several criteria such as linearity, specificity, precision and accuracy were evaluated. For red ginseng powder, recovery (averaging 95% to 105%) was calculated, and analysis of variance was carried out to estimate the relative standard deviation (0.20% to 2.12%). For red ginseng extract, the average recovery rate was 90% to 99% and the relative standard deviation was 0.39% to 2.40%. These results indicate that the proposed method could be used in the laboratory for determination of 12 ginsenosides in red ginseng powder and extract. In addition, this method was found to be suitable for quality control of ginseng products and potentially offer time and cost benefits.
