요골신경 압박마비의 회복 (Convalescence from Saturday Night Palsy)

  • Purpose: Saturday night palsy is a transient form of nerve palsy that occurs after a prolonged period of direct pressure on the course of radial nerve by one's own or spouse's head. Although commonly encountered, there have been only few studies concerning its convalescence. The purpose of this study is to predict the prognosis of Saturday night palsy based on the causes, time to recovery and degree of recovery. Materials and Methods: Retrospective study of 20 patients who were diagnosed compression radial nerve palsy was performed. The average age was 36.7 years old and the mean follow-up period was 19.6 months. We investigated sleeping hours as an indirect measure of nerve compression time, recovery of wrist and finger extension, DASH score on the monthly based follow up. Results: The mean sleeping hours was 5.8 hours and all patients showed full recovery of wrist and fingers extension with the mean duration of symptom for 3.2 months. DASH score was an average 1.53 at the last follow up and we found no statistical significance between the time to recovery and the sleeping hours. Conclusion: Complete natural recovery can be expected in compression radial nerve palsy in this study without correlation with sleeping time. Accurate diagnosis is important in order to avoid unnecessary therapeutic intervention and further study should be accomplished for clarifying the related prognostic factors in larger scale of the cases.

  • A 2-loop waste heat recovery system with Rankine steam cycles for the improvement of fuel efficiency of gasoline vehicles has been investigated. A high temperature loop(HT loop) is a system to recover the waste heat from the exhaust gas, a low temperature loop(LT loop) is for heat recovery from the engine coolant cold relatively. This paper has dealt with a layout of a LT loop system, the review of the working fluids, and the design of the cycle. The design point and the target heat recovery of the LT boiler, a core part of a LT loop, has been presented and analytically investigated. Considering the characteristics of the cycle, the basic concept of the LT boiler has been determined as a shell-and tube type counterflow heat exchanger, the performance characteristics for various design parameters were investigated.

  • The efficiency of clove oil, MS-222, and 2-phenoxyethanol was evaluated as anesthetics in juvenile Scomber japonicus. Stage A5 of anesthesia was assumed to be sufficient for conducting routine aquaculture procedures in less than 3 min, with recovery (stage R5) in less than 5 min. The lowest effective doses of the three anesthetics were 50 mg $L^{-1}$ clove oil (anesthetic time of 71.3 s and recovery time of 167.0 s), 100 mg $L^{-1}$ MS-222 (anesthetic time of 70.7 s and recovery time of 115.7 s), and 400 mg $L^{-1}$ 2-phenoxyethanol (anesthetic time of 86.7 s and recovery time of 95.0 s). Anesthetic times decreased with increasing doses for all three anesthetic agents, and fish anesthetized with clove oil exhibited the longest recovery times. After 30 min, the highest plasma cortisol and lactate levels were detected with the use of clove oil, whereas the lowest values were observed with 2-phenoxyethanol. In addition, high glucose levels were maintained during recovery with clove oil, but the treatments did not significantly differ. The most effective of the three anesthetic agents was 2-phenoxyethanol, although all were considered acceptable for use in cultures of juvenile Scomber japonicus.

  • MySQL 데이터베이스는 현재 데이터베이스 시장에서 높은 점유율을 보이며 많은 사용자들이 사용한다. MyISAM 스토리지 엔진의 경우, 이전에 디폴트 엔진으로 사용되었음에도 불구하고 실질적인 레코드 복구 방법이 존재하지 않았다. 삭제된 레코드에는 데이터베이스 수사 시 중요한 증거로 쓰일 수 있는 정보가 존재할 가능성이 높으며, 수사관이 방대한 양의 데이터베이스를 직접 조사하여 일일이 정보를 판별하는 것은 거의 불가능하다. 본 논문에서는 MySQL MyISAM 데이터베이스 구조를 분석하여 삭제된 레코드의 복구 기법을 제안하며 이를 도구로 구현하여 실험한 결과를 제시한다.

  • This study aims to gain the design data through the process design of the organic Rankine cycle, which can produce 250kW of electric power through waste heat recovery. In this study, a simulation was conducted using APSEN HYSYS to make the model for the process design of the 250kW-class waste heat recovery system. For the thermodynamic model, the test was conducted with hot water as the heat source, the water steam as the cooling water for the cooler, and the refrigerant R245FA in the cycle. In the final design, it was expected and found from the simulation that the cycle efficiency was 12.62% and that 250kW of power was produced considering the margin of 80%.

A 40 Gb/s Clock and Data Recovery Module with Improved Phase-Locked Loop Circuits

  • A 40 Gb/s clock and data recovery (CDR) module for a fiber-optic receiver with improved phase-locked loop (PLL) circuits has been successfully implemented. The PLL of the CDR module employs an improved D-type flip-flop frequency acquisition circuit, which helps to stabilize the CDR performance, to obtain faster frequency acquisition, and to reduce the time of recovering the lock state in the event of losing the lock state. The measured RMS jitter of the clock signal recovered from 40 Gb/s pseudo-random binary sequence ($2^{31}-1$) data by the improved PLL clock recovery module is 210 fs. The CDR module also integrates a 40 Gb/s D-FF decision circuit, demonstrating that it can produce clean retimed data using the recovered clock.

Effect of genistein administration on the recovery of spermatogenesis in the busulfan-treated rat testis

  • Objective: Impairment of spermatogenesis has been identified as an inevitable side effect of cancer treatment. Although estrogen treatment stimulates spermatogenic recovery from the impaired spermatogenesis by suppressing the intra-testicular testosterone (ITT) level, side effects of estrogen are still major impediments to its clinical application in humans. Soybeans are rich in genistein, which is a phytoestrogen that binds to estrogen receptors and has an estrogenic effect. We investigated the effects of genistein administration on ITT levels, testis weight, and recovery of spermatogenesis in rats treated with a chemotherapeutic agent, busulfan. Methods: Busulfan was administered intraperitoneally to rats, and then a GnRH agonist was injected subcutaneously into the back, or genistein was administered orally. Results: The weight of the testes was significantly reduced by the treatment with busulfan. The testis weight was partially restored after busulfan treatment by additional treatment with either the GnRH agonist or genistein. Busulfan also induced atrophy of a high percentage of the seminiferous tubules, but this percentage was decreased by additional treatment with either the GnRH agonist or genistein. Treatment with genistein was effective at suppressing and maintaining ITT levels comparable to that in the GnRH agonist group. Conclusion: Genistein effectively suppressed ITT levels and stimulated the recovery of spermatogenesis in rats treated with a chemotherapeutic drug. This suggests that genistein may be a substitute for estrogens, for helping humans to recover fertility after cancer therapy without the risk of side effects.

성인 편마비 환자의 작업수행 중 산소소모량에 대한 연구 (A Study on Oxygen Consumption during Occupational Activities Performance of Adult Hemiplegia)

  • The purposes of this study are to quantify energy expenditure by measuring oxygen consumption while performing occupational therapy activities most commonly used for adult hemiplegia patients, to recommend a optimal dosage of exercise by comparing energy expenditure according to the recovery stage, and to suggest a precaution in the treatment of patients with cardiac disorders. According to Brunnstrom recovery stages in hand function, subjects were allocated to group I(3rd and 4th Brunnstrom recovery stages) and group II(5th and 6th Brunnstrom recovery stages). Outcome measures included oxygen consumption, energy expenditure rate, and heart rate during each activity and in recovery period after the activity. Occupational activities including sanding activity, putty activity, and skateboard activity were carried out for all patients. In sanding and putty activities, there were significant differences of oxygen consumption and energy expenditure during the activity between groupⅠandⅡ(p<0.05), but there were not significant differences of oxygen consumption, energy expenditure and heart rate in the recovery period(p>0.05). In skateboard activity, there were no significant differences in oxygen consumption, energy expenditure and heart rates between the two groups during the activity and in the recovery period(p>0.05). The findings indicates that cardiovascular demands for basic activities usually peformed for a treatment may be depended on the physical recovery of patients with hemiplegia. Therefore, therapeutic activities for patients should be selected with the great care.

금융권 재해복구 시스템의 DB 데이터 복구율 향상을 위한 연구 (A study for improving database recovery ratio of Disaster Recovery System in financial industry)

  • 은행권에서는 재해란 전산 서비스가 장애를 감내할 수 있는 시간이 초과하는 경우를 말하며, 재해 대비책으로 비즈니스 연속성 계획과 재해복구 계획을 기반으로 한 재해복구 시스템을 구축하고 있다. 하지만 기존의 시스템은 사이버 테러에 의한 장애 시 업무 연속성의 유지를 완벽하게 보장해주지 못한다. 본 논문은 이러한 금융권의 재해복구시스템의 구축 형태 및 재해복구 시스템 구현 기술의 현황에 대하여 분석한다. 또한, WORM 스토리지를 이용한 아카이브 로그의 백업 방식과 Online Redo Log를 이용한 데이터 백업 방식을 설명하고 이 두 가지 방식을 결합하여 향상된 데이터 복구 모형을 제시한다. 마지막으로 테스트 환경을 구축하고 실증하여 제안하는 복구 모델의 유효성과 안정성을 확인한다.

회복지향실천이 정신장애인의 정신과적 증상에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Recovery Oriented Practices on Psychiatric Symptoms of People with Mental Disorder)

  • 본 연구는 회복지향실천이 정신장애인의 정신과적 증상에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고 나아가 회복지향실천의 각 하위영역 중 어떠한 요인이 정신과적 증상에 영향을 미치는지 탐색함으로써 지역사회 정신보건기관의 회복지향실천 적용을 위한 실천적 의의를 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 전국 정신장애인 사회복귀시설을 이용하는 정신장애인 378명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 상관관계분석 및 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 연령과 유병기간을 포함한 회복지향실천의 5개 하위요인 중 '삶의 목표', '관여', '치료대안의 다양성'이 정신장애인들의 증상을 완화시키는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 국내 정신보건기관이 회복지향실천의 가치와 요소를 반영하여 정신장애인의 회복을 촉진시킬 수 있도록 정신의학 및 사회복지학의 융복합적 의의를 제시하였다.
