Psenes arafurensis, belonging to the family Nomeidae, is described based on four specimens (184.8-199.0 mm in standard length) collected from Korea. The species is most similar to the congeneric species P. maculatus and P. pellucidus, but differs from them in the number of lateral-line scales. (44-47 in P. arafurensis vs 67-70 in P. maculatus and 120 in P. pellucidus) and the number of vertebrae (31 in P. arafurensis vs 34-38 in P. maculatus and 40-42 in P. pellucidus). The present study is a new record of P. arafurensis with voucher specimens from Korean waters.

A new record of the eyeshade sculpin Nautichthys pribilovius is described on the basis of a single specimen collected from the East Sea, Korea. The species has 23 second dorsal fin rays, rounded spines on the occiput, a black band through the eye and across the cheek, branched caudal fin rays and a branchiostegal membrane attached to the isthmus. The new Korean name "Gum-eun-tti-nun-hoet-dae-sok" is proposed for the genus Nautichthys, and "Gum-eun-tti-nun-hoet-dae" is proposed for the species N. pribilovius.

A deep-dwelling goby, Obliquogobius yamadai, was described as the first record from Korea based on three specimens (30.3~47.0 mm SL) collected from the southern sea off Jeju Island. The species is characterized by having I, 9 second dorsal fin rays, scaled lateral side of nape, smaller head with large eye, and asymmetrical caudal fin dorsoventrally as well as about nine yellowish bars on body side. A new Korean name, "Gip-eun-ba-da-no-ran-ddi-mang-dug", is proposed for the species.

Single specimen (68 mm TL) of the Shiho's seahorse Hippocampus sindonis collected from Geomun Island was described as a first record from Korea. The species is characterized by having 15 dorsal fin-rays, 14 pectoral fin-rays, snout length 2.8 in HL, trunk rings 10, and tail rings 37. A new Korean name, "Sin-do-hae-ma" is proposed.

Based on a single juvenile specimen (32.3 mm SL) collected from the northeastern coastal waters of Goseong, Gangwon-do, Nautichthys pribilovius was described as the first juvenile record from Korea. This juvenile fish is characterized by having entire body covered with close-set villous prickles, a blunt triangular ridge above orbit with a palmate cirrus, two blunt occipital projections, preopercle with four blunt spines, and a blackish bar below eye reaching lower margin of preopercle. Some morphometric characters related with growth were also discussed.

Purpose: This study was a comparative review of the computerized nursing records and paper-based nursing records to examine effects of a nursing process documentation system focusing on patients who have had stroke. Method: First, the researchers collected all the foci from the computerized records and the paper-based records. They selected ten nursing foci, used frequently in both groups and analyzed the number of foci per patient, appropriateness of foci, the number of nursing activities per nursing focus and whether outcomes were described or not in the nursing record. Results: There was fewer errors in nursing diagnosis selection, and a larger number of activities in the records than trle paper based ones. Also, there was a better description of the nursing outcomes in the computerized records. Conclusion: This study suggests that the computerized nursing records is significantly effective in increasing accuracy of the nursing care plan and quality of the nursing record.

The recent Sichuan earthquake(2008) in China and Iwate-Miyazaki earthquake(2008) in Japan give Korea peninsula warning that it is no more safety zone against damage by earthquake events. So, rapid and appropriate countermeasures for dam operation and management against earthquake are needed. In Korea earthquake design standard(MOCT, 1997) has been revised after Kobe earthquake. Installation of seismometer and monitoring of earthquake for special class dams is requlated in dam aseismic design standard(MOCT, 2001). Accelerometer installation project for existing dams has been carrying out by K-water to establish an earthquake network for dam safety. Real-time dam earthquake monitoring network has also been developed to detect an earthquake efficiently and to warn to dam administrators as soon as possible. In this study, dam real-time earthquake monitoring system developed by K-water was introduced and applicability of real earthquake record measured by this system to dam safety management was illustrated.

On November 9, 2022, a goatfish (Mullidae) that had not been previously reported in Korea was collected during offshore fisheries resources research near Jeju Island. Based on the morphological identification, this goatfish was identified as the genus Upeneus owing to the presence of palatine teeth and vomerine teeth, as well as the proximal part of anterior part of second dorsal fin. Additionally, through molecular identification, the previously unreported goatfish was identified as U. subvittatus with a 99.8% match in the mtDNA COI region. Goatfish U. subvittatus has no patterns on its body and dark bands on both the lower and upper caudal fins, making it well distinguishable from the four species of genus Upeneus reported in Korea. U. vittatus, reported in Japan, showed morphological differences from U. subvittatus in that the dark band on the lower lobe of the caudal fin was wider, and longitudinal stripes were present on the body. Based on the morphological characteristics of U. subvittatus, we suggest a new Korean name, "Jul-mu-nui-kko-li-chog-su".

An epidemiological study was undertaken to estimate the prevalence of Enterobius vermicularis infection among the primary (and infant) school schildren in Ysngyang-gun, Kyongsangbuk-do. During the period from 2 to 14 December 1983, a total of 2,227 school children in 13 schools were examined one time by means of scotch-tape anal swab technique with a simple questionaire study on perianal itching, enuresis and school record. The results are as follows: 1. The overall egg Positive rate was 64.1% and the rate ranged from 46.6 to 86.7% by schools. 2. The egg positive rates of boys and twirls were 60.5 and 68.0% respectively and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.005). 3. There was noted a tendency of decrease in prevalence by increase of the age of children. 4. It was revealed that perianal itching and school record were significantly correlated with E. vermicularis infection (P<0.05) while not in case of enuresis (P>0.1).
