We have developed a L1 band (1575.42 MHz), C/A (Coarse/Acquisition) code GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver for precise time comparison and evaluated the performance of the receiver. The GPS measurements have been carried out between cesium clocks onboard the GPS satellites and the master clock of Korea Standards Research Institute (KSRI) using the GPS receiver. An accuracy of time transfer better than 100ns was obtained.
In this paper a common design method fur RF receivers of different CDMA standards is introduced. The method adopted a new equation, receiver noise equation, for the analysis of each standard. The test conditions for RF receivers in four different CDMA standards, CDMA cellular, PCS, WCDMA, and cdma2000 are analyzed based on the receiver noise equation. With the result of the analysis, the specifications fer RF receivers of different CDMA standards are derived.

This paper presents an integrated receiver to support multimode broadcasting standards such as DVB-T2, DVB-C2, and DVB-S2 in a single platform. The integrated receiver consists of a tuner block, a receiver engine, a frame processor, and an A/V decoder. The receiver engine includes a channel decoding engine and a demodulation engine to perform OFDM and APSK demodulations. The frame processor performs deinterleaving and BB frame decoding functions. The demodulator engine and the frame processor are implemented in two FPGA devices and DSP-based embedded software, respectively. To verify the functionality of the integrated receiver, it is tested in the laboratory. Commercial PC-based modulators are used to generate the DVB-T2, DVB-C2, and DVB-S2 modulated signals. The integrated receiver was tested under various operation modes as specified in the standards such as DVB-T2, DVB-C2, and DVB-S2 and showed successful operation in all the scenarios tested.
ELoran Systems can provide Position, Navigation, and Time services with comparable performance to Global Positioning Systems (GPS) as a back up or alternative system. High timing and navigation performance can be achieved by eLoran signals because eLoran receivers use "all-in-view" reception. This incorporates Time of Arrival (TOA) signals from all stations in the service range because each eLoran station is synchronized to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Transmission station information and the differential Loran correction data are transmitted via an additional Loran Data Channel (LDC) on the transmitted eLoran signal such that eLoran provides improved Position Navigation and Timing (PNT) over legacy Loran. In this paper, we propose a technique for adapting the delay time compensation values in eLoran timing receivers to provide precise time comparison. For this purpose, we have designed a system that measures time delay from the crossing point of the third cycle extracted from the current transformer at the end point of the transmitter. The receiver delay was measured by connecting an active H-field, an E-field and a passive loop antenna to a commercial eLoran timing receiver. The common-view time transfer technique using the calibrated eLoran timing receiver improved the eLoran transfer time. A eLoran timing receiver calibrated by this method can be utilized in the field for precise time comparison as a GNSS backup.

UHD broadcasting based on ATSC 3.0 is being implemented in Korea, and discussion on mobile broadcasting based on ATSC 3.0 is underway. The ATSC 3.0 standard introduces internet protocol based standards in order to facilitate the implementation of conventional broadcasting services as well as broadcasting and communication convergence services interlocking with communication services. In this process, various requirements for the receiver have been derived, and factors to consider for developing the receiver product have also increased. ATSC 3.0 broadcasting is currently in the introduction stage of the service, and additional technology development and product implementation related to the receiver should proceed until the full-scale market is formed. In this regard, this paper describes the considerations for developing UHD receiver based on ATSC 3.0 and the test procedure for verifying developed receiver.

In this paper, we described the timing-offset comparison results between various daily jump compensation methods for GPS carrier phase (CP) measurement data. For the performance comparison, we used about 70 days GPS measurement data obtained from two GPS geodetic receivers which share the reference 1 PPS and RF signals and closely located in each other within a few meters. From the experiment results, the followings were observed. First, daily jumps existed in CP measurements depend on not only the environment but also the receiver which will make a full compensation be very hard or impossible. Second, clock bias can be occurred in the case of using a simple compensation with accumulation of daily jumps but it could be used in a short-period frequency comparison campaign (less than about 7 days) despite of its drawback.

In this paper, we review the four receiver architectures and four methods for multi-standard receiver design. Propose reconfigurable RF block can be used for both low-IF and direct conversion architecture. Also, using reconfigurable mixer method, it can be operated at $2{\sim}6$ GHz range for multi-standard receiver. It consists of wideband mixer, filter, and automatic gain control amplifier and to get wide-band operation, $2{\sim}6$ GHz, wide-band mixer use flexible input matching method. Besides, to design multi-standard receiver, LNA bank that support each standard is necessary and it has good performance to compensate the performance of wide-band mixer. Finally, we design and simulate proposed reconfigurable RF block and to prove that it has acceptable performances for various wireless standards, the LNA bank that supports both IEEE 802.11a/b/g and WCDMA is also designed and simulated with it.

This paper presented compact CW sub-THz imaging system using the terahertz transmitter(Tx) that generates 0.34 THz electromagnetic wave based on electronic device. Using 0.34 THz electromagnetic wave generated by Tx, we measured transmitting terahertz wave magnitude and phase information respectively with terahertz receiver(Rx) based on sub harmonic mixer. This paper measured and compared images of several samples to obtain better imaging results by changing time delay and step distance of scanning stage which affect image resolution. Also, through the imaging measurement of various samples, we were able to assure possibility of application of terahertz wave.

We developed a time comparison system using the ranging signal of the geostationary meteorological satellite(GMS). By using the system time comparison between the KRISS(Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science) cesium atomic clock and the GMS ranging signal has been carried out and the results have shown that the precision of time comparison at KRISS is about 10 ns. For the more accurate measurements we calibrated the receiver delay time between KRISS receiver and CRL(Communications Research Laboratory) receiver by using the portable GMS receiver.
