This study developed models using decision forest, support vector machine, and logistic regression methods to predict and prevent suicidal ideation among Korean adolescents. The study sample consisted of 51,407 individuals after removing missing data from the raw data of the 18th (2022) Youth Health Behavior Survey conducted by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Analysis was performed using the MS Azure program with Two-Class Decision Forest, Two-Class Support Vector Machine, and Two-Class Logistic Regression. The results of the study showed that the decision forest model achieved an accuracy of 84.8% and an F1-score of 36.7%. The support vector machine model achieved an accuracy of 86.3% and an F1-score of 24.5%. The logistic regression model achieved an accuracy of 87.2% and an F1-score of 40.1%. Applying the logistic regression model with SMOTE to address data imbalance resulted in an accuracy of 81.7% and an F1-score of 57.7%. Although the accuracy slightly decreased, the recall, precision, and F1-score improved, demonstrating excellent performance. These findings have significant implications for the development of prediction models for suicidal ideation among Korean adolescents and can contribute to the prevention and improvement of youth suicide.
The optimal threshold estimation is considered in order to discriminate the mixture distribution in the fields of Biostatistics and credit evaluation. There exists well-known various accuracy measures that examine the discriminant power. Recently, Matthews correlation coefficient and the F1 statistic were studied to estimate optimal thresholds. In this study, we explore whether these accuracy measures are appropriate for the optimal threshold to discriminate the mixture distribution. It is found that some accuracy measures that depend on the sample size are not appropriate when two sample sizes are much different. Moreover, an alternative method for finding the optimal threshold is proposed using the correlation coefficient that defines the ratio of the confusion matrix, and the usefulness and utility of this method are also discusses.

Currently, the second most devastating form of cancer in people, particularly in women, is Breast Cancer (BC). In the healthcare industry, Machine Learning (ML) is commonly employed in fatal disease prediction. Due to breast cancer's favorable prognosis at an early stage, a model is created to utilize the Dataset on Wisconsin Diagnostic Breast Cancer (WDBC). Conversely, this model's overarching axiom is to compare the effectiveness of five well-known ML classifiers, including Logistic Regression (LR), Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), and Naive Bayes (NB) with the conventional method. To counterbalance the effect with conventional methods, the overarching tactic we utilized was hyperparameter tuning utilizing the grid search method, which improved accuracy, secondary precision, third recall, and finally the F1 score. In this study hyperparameter tuning model, the rate of accuracy increased from 94.15% to 98.83% whereas the accuracy of the conventional method increased from 93.56% to 97.08%. According to this investigation, KNN outperformed all other classifiers in terms of accuracy, achieving a score of 98.83%. In conclusion, our study shows that KNN works well with the hyper-tuning method. These analyses show that this study prediction approach is useful in prognosticating women with breast cancer with a viable performance and more accurate findings when compared to the conventional approach.

We investigate the efficacy of ensemble learning methods, specifically the soft voting technique, for enhancing heart disease prediction accuracy. Our study uniquely combines Logistic Regression, SVM with RBF Kernel, and Random Forest models in a soft voting ensemble to improve predictive performance. We demonstrate that this approach outperforms individual models in diagnosing heart disease. Our research contributes to the field by applying a well-curated dataset with normalization and optimization techniques, conducting a comprehensive comparative analysis of different machine learning models, and showcasing the superior performance of the soft voting ensemble in medical diagnosis. This multifaceted approach allows us to provide a thorough evaluation of the soft voting ensemble's effectiveness in the context of heart disease prediction. We evaluate our models based on accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score, and Area Under the ROC Curve (AUC). Our results indicate that the soft voting ensemble technique achieves higher accuracy and robustness in heart disease prediction compared to individual classifiers. This study advances the application of machine learning in medical diagnostics, offering a novel approach to improve heart disease prediction. Our findings have significant implications for early detection and management of heart disease, potentially contributing to better patient outcomes and more efficient healthcare resource allocation.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate ChatGPT's performance accuracy in responding to questions from the national dental hygienist examination. Moreover, through an analysis of ChatGPT's incorrect responses, this research intended to pinpoint the predominant types of errors. Methods: To evaluate ChatGPT-3.5's performance according to the type of national examination questions, the researchers classified 200 questions of the 49th National Dental Hygienist Examination into recall, interpretation, and solving type questions. The researchers strategically modified the questions to counteract potential misunderstandings from implied meanings or technical terminology in Korea. To assess ChatGPT-3.5's problem-solving capabilities in applying previously acquired knowledge, the questions were first converted to subjective type. If ChatGPT-3.5 generated an incorrect response, an original multiple-choice framework was provided again. Two hundred questions were input into ChatGPT-3.5 and the generated responses were analyzed. After using ChatGPT, the accuracy of each response was evaluated by researchers according to the types of questions, and the types of incorrect responses were categorized (logical, information, and statistical errors). Finally, hallucination was evaluated when ChatGPT provided misleading information by answering something that was not true as if it were true. Results: ChatGPT's responses to the national examination were 45.5% accurate. Accuracy by question type was 60.3% for recall and 13.0% for problem-solving type questions. The accuracy rate for the subjective solving questions was 13.0%, while the accuracy for the objective questions increased to 43.5%. The most common types of incorrect responses were logical errors 65.1% of all. Of the total 102 incorrectly answered questions, 100 were categorized as hallucinations. Conclusion: ChatGPT-3.5 was found to be limited in its ability to provide evidence-based correct responses to the Korean national dental hygiene examination. Therefore, dental hygienists in the education or clinical fields should be careful to use artificial intelligence-generated materials with a critical view.

Neuro-Fuzzy System is to combine merits of fuzzy inference system and neural networks. The neuro-fuzzy system applies a information about given input-output data to fuzzy theories and deals these fuzzy values with neural networks, e.g. first, redefines normalized input-output data as membership functions and then executes thses fuzzy information with backpropagation neural networks. This paper describes an innovative application of the Taguchi method for the determination of these parameters to meet the training speed and accuracy requirements. Results drawn from this research show that the Taguchi method provides an effective means to enhance the performance of the neuro-fuzzy system in terms of the speed for learning and the accuracy for recall.

Applying predictive analytics to predict software defects has improved the overall quality and decreased maintenance costs. Many supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms have been used for defect prediction on publicly available datasets. Most of these datasets suffer from an imbalance in the output classes. We study the impact of class imbalance in the defect datasets on the efficiency of the defect prediction model and propose a CPP method for handling imbalances in the dataset. The performance of the methods is evaluated using measures like Matthew's Correlation Coefficient (MCC), Recall, and Accuracy measures. The proposed sampling technique shows significant improvement in the efficiency of the classifier in predicting defects.

Classification of persons wearing and not wearing face masks in images has emerged as a new computer vision problem during the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to address this problem and scale up the research in this domain, in this paper a hybrid technique by employing ResNet-101 and multi-layer perceptron (MLP) classifier has been proposed. The proposed technique is tested and validated on a self-created face masks classification dataset and a standard dataset. On self-created dataset, the proposed technique achieved a classification accuracy of 97.3%. To embrace the proposed technique, six other state-of-the-art CNN feature extractors with six other classical machine learning classifiers have been tested and compared with the proposed technique. The proposed technique achieved better classification accuracy and 1-6% higher precision, recall, and F1 score as compared to other tested deep feature extractors and machine learning classifiers.

In this paper, we propose a methodology to annotate the digital documents through keyphrase extraction using domain specific taxonomy. Limitation of the existing keyphrase extraction algorithms is that output keyphrases may contain irrelevant information along with relevant ones. The quality of the generated keyphrases by the existing approaches does not meet the required level of accuracy. Our proposed approach exploits semantic relationships and hierarchical structure of the classification scheme to filter out irrelevant keyphrases suggested by Keyphrase Extraction Algorithm (KEA++). Our experimental results proved the accuracy of the proposed algorithm through high precision and low recall.
